Pennsylvania woman's beloved dog disappears after her mysterious shooting

A Pennsylvania woman's beloved dog, a 10-year-old Rottweiler named Zeus, was among the possessions of her deceased mother that were disposed of by her father after she passed away from gunshot wounds in their home.

The 2013 shooting was initially reported as an accidental discharge of a .40 caliber pistol by Chelsea Cicio's stepfather, Bruno Rocuba. According to Rocuba, he was cleaning his gun on the nightstand when his wife sat down next to him and it accidentally went off.

However, seven years after the incident, state police re-examined the case and discovered inconsistencies in Rocuba's account of the shooting. Investigators found a home security system that captured footage of Melissa Rocuba's last movements and words, including her screaming for help as she lay dying.

The new evidence led to a re-investigation, and on June 3, 2022, Bruno Rocuba was arrested and charged with third-degree murder. Two years later, in May 2024, he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 12 to 40 years behind bars, with time served.

Chelsea Cicio expressed shock that her father asked them to dispose of their mother's clothes, beloved dog Zeus, and all photographs of his wife just days after she passed away. She recalled that her father even got rid of her sister's entire wardrobe and said he couldn't bear the sight of it.

Sabrina Rocuba, Chelsea's older sister, echoed similar sentiments, stating that they had to go through their mother's belongings to bury her in new clothes due to their father's request.

The case has raised concerns about domestic violence and the handling of evidence by law enforcement agencies. The district attorney initially declined to charge Bruno Rocuba with murder, citing a lack of evidence; however, state police later found key inconsistencies in his account that ultimately led to his arrest and conviction.

Chelsea Cicio expressed relief that her father is behind bars, saying she was worried he would be arrested but had recommended he hire an attorney. Her sister Sabrina added that they never suspected their stepfather's involvement in the shooting prior to the police re-investigation.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough investigations and the devastating impact of domestic violence on families.

๐Ÿค” This whole thing just sounds so messed up ๐Ÿšซ. I mean, first off, the fact that Bruno Rocuba's initial story about it being an accident didn't add up is already super suspicious ๐Ÿ”. And then you find out there was a security system that captured footage of his wife screaming for help as she was dying... talk about a red flag ๐Ÿšจ. It's wild to think he was able to get away with something so egregious for so long.

The way his own family members are coming forward now is really telling too ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Chelsea and Sabrina's reactions when their dad started disposing of their mom's belongings? That's just heartbreaking โค๏ธ. And the fact that he got rid of photos of his wife and even her sister's entire wardrobe? That's just insane.

Anyway, I'm glad justice was finally served ๐Ÿ™Œ. 12-40 years is definitely a fair sentence considering all the evidence they found. It's a good reminder for law enforcement to double-check their work and for families to be more vigilant about suspicious behavior ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

๐Ÿค• this whole thing is just heartbreaking, you know? i mean zeus was more than just a pet, he was part of the family. it's so sad that they had to go through all that trauma just days after melissa passed away. and the fact that her dad asked them to dispose of her clothes and photos like they were nothing is just... ๐Ÿคฏ i don't think anyone should ever have to experience that kind of pain and loss. and now that justice has been served, it's still hard to imagine what their lives must have been like leading up to the shooting. ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜• I'm so sorry to hear about Chelsea Cicio going through all this trauma again after 7 years. It's heartbreaking that her father disposed of their mom's belongings, including Zeus, without even giving them a proper goodbye ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’”. And now he's behind bars for the murder of his wife... it's a relief for Chelsea and her sister Sabrina that justice has been served ๐Ÿ’ช. This whole case is just a reminder how quickly our assumptions can be proven wrong and how crucial it is to have thorough investigations in place, especially when it comes to domestic violence ๐Ÿค. My heart goes out to Chelsea and her family during this difficult time ๐Ÿ˜”.

can you believe this dude was able to hide behind an "accident" for 7 yrs? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ his father's move to get rid of their mom's stuff is just mind blown, like he didn't want anyone to see her after she died ๐Ÿ’€. the fact that they had to put new clothes on their mom to bury her shows how messed up this situation was ๐Ÿ‘•. domestic violence is so real and devastating, we need to keep raising awareness about it ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” So I'm reading this news about a lady who lost her mom to a gunshot wound in their home, and it turns out her stepdad was arrested for it... like 7 years after the fact! And get this, he said it was an accident, but now police have found footage of his wife screaming for help as she died. I don't know about you guys, but that just doesn't add up. I'm glad justice is finally being served, and I hope it helps prevent something like this from happening to another family. It's just crazy how people can be so calculating when it comes to getting rid of evidence or blaming someone else for their mistakes. Anyway, I guess you could say this case is a big reminder that we need to pay closer attention to the details... ๐Ÿšจ

My heart goes out to Chelsea & her family ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜”... how traumatic it must've been for them, losing their mom in such a senseless way. And to have those precious belongings taken away from them just days later? It's like they were already grieving the loss of their loved one and then had to deal with that emotional pain all over again ๐Ÿ’”. The fact that his stepdad got away with it for so long is just devastating, and I'm so glad justice has been served ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’ช... 12-40 years is still a tough sentence, but at least he's facing the consequences of his actions. My thoughts are with Chelsea & her family during this time ๐Ÿ˜•.

Man... this is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. I'm thinking, what can we learn from Chelsea's experience? One thing that comes to mind is how our own emotions can get in the way of making rational decisions in crisis situations. It sounds like her dad was trying to cope with his grief and maybe even some guilt or shame, which led him to make some questionable choices.

It's also a reminder that domestic violence can be really sneaky - it doesn't always look like a straightforward situation where someone gets physically abused. In this case, it seems like Bruno Rocuba might have been manipulating the truth about what happened with his wife's death.

For Chelsea and her sister, having to go through their mom's stuff without being able to process their emotions is heartbreaking. It just goes to show how traumatic events can affect families in ways we may not even understand at first.

๐Ÿคฏ The fact that Bruno Rocuba was able to get away with potentially disposing of evidence, including photos and personal belongings, for seven years is utterly disturbing ๐Ÿšซ. This highlights how systemic failures and a lack of accountability can lead to tragic consequences ๐Ÿ’”. It's disconcerting to think about the emotional trauma Chelsea Cicio must have endured having her family's personal items scattered and manipulated by her father, all while dealing with the loss of her mother ๐Ÿ‘ต. The guilty plea and sentencing are a belated measure of justice, but it raises more questions about how we can prevent such atrocities from happening in the future ๐Ÿค”.

๐Ÿค” can u even imagine how traumatic it must've been for those 2 sisters to have to go through their mom's stuff, clothes, pictures of her dog... like, what kinda messed up family does that? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and now their dad is getting away with murder after being told to get rid of all that evidence. law enforcement agencies are literally supposed to be protecting people, not covering for abusers ๐Ÿ™„. it's wild how the DA initially dropped the ball on this one... time served? 12-40 years? still feels way too lenient to me ๐Ÿ˜’

I cant believe what happened with Chelseas mom... its like they took away every thing that meant somethin to her dad after she passed away ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ. I mean, you got this dog Zeus who was like family, just tossed in the trash... and her sisters clothes too? It's so sad. Its crazy how Bruno kept gettin away with it all those years ago but then state police comes along and figures out he lied about it. The new evidence is wild, it shows him screamin for help as she lay dyin... its just barbaric. Anyway, Chelsea finally got some justice i guess, 12-40 yrs behind bars, that's a long time. Domestic violence cases like this one should be all we're talkin about right now.

Can you believe this? A dad disposes of his wife's stuff, including her beloved dog & all their mom's clothes & photos just days after she passes away? ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Like, what even is that?! It's so sad for Chelsea & Sabrina, who had to go through all that grief & trauma. The fact that the police initially didn't charge his stepdad with murder because of a lack of evidence is wild ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Thankfully they re-investigated & got him behind bars though, and it's good that Chelsea & her sister are getting some justice. It's a huge reminder to always keep an eye out for signs of domestic violence & make sure our law enforcement agencies are doing their job properly ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ˜” This whole thing is just heartbreaking, you know? I mean, a dad disposes of his wife's stuff and their dog's body just days after she passes away... it's like he thought he was above the law or something. And to think they had to dig through all that emotional junk to get justice done... it's just so sad for Chelsea and her sister Sabrina. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’” I guess this case really highlights how hard it is to deal with domestic violence, especially when it's like a family member is involved. We gotta make sure we're supporting each other and getting the help we need, you feel? ๐Ÿค It's not just about punishing the bad guy, but also about giving a voice to those who've been hurt. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, can you even imagine having to sort through your mom's stuff just days after she dies? Like, get it together, dude ๐Ÿ™„. And yeah, no wonder they got rid of her clothes and photos... it was like he wanted to erase the whole thing from existence. That's some messed up stuff right there ๐Ÿ’”.

I'm glad justice was served eventually, but that 7-year delay in re-examining the case is just wild ๐Ÿคฏ. It's crazy how often investigators miss stuff or don't do their due diligence. The fact that he got away with it for so long is just disturbing ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

Anyway, I guess this whole thing does highlight the importance of thorough investigations and not letting personal biases get in the way of finding the truth ๐Ÿ’ก. And let's be real, domestic violence cases can be super tricky to navigate... I'm glad Chelsea and Sabrina got some closure, but it's still just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’” I'm so glad justice was finally served for Chelsea and her family. It's just heartbreaking that they had to go through all that trauma again after thinking their father was being taken care of. ๐Ÿ˜“ But at least we know now that the truth came out, and Bruno Rocuba is paying for his actions. 12-40 years in prison is still a tough sentence, but it's better than nothing. ๐Ÿ’ช
