Petty Men review – understudies plot their own version of Julius Caesar

😐 I feel like the understudies in this production are actually getting overshadowed by the main cast... πŸ€” Like, isn't that kinda the point of them being understudies? πŸ’β€β™€οΈ And I'm not sure about TomΓ‘s Palmer's design, it feels kinda boring to me... 😴 The chemistry between Goodbody and Chisham is pretty cool tho, but I wish they'd developed their characters a bit more... πŸ‘

i dont think this pettymen thing is doing shakespeare any justice πŸ€” theyre trying too hard to be clever with that staging and design, but it just comes off as gimmicky imho πŸ‘Ž goodbody and chisham are actually pretty cool as the understudy duo tho, their chemistry is on point! 😊

I'm not sure I love this 'Petty Men' production... πŸ€” It's like they're trying too hard to give the understudies some extra credit, but it feels kinda forced. The chemistry between Goodbody and Chisham is cool, but those performances feel a bit one-note, you know? And don't even get me started on the design – all those phantasms and whatnot just make the whole thing feel like a weird fever dream πŸ€ͺ. I mean, can't they just stick to the original material instead of trying to reinvent the wheel? It's like they're more interested in showing off their 'clever' staging than actually telling a compelling story... 😐

I'm so over this reimagining thing πŸ™„. It's like the producers just thought "you know what would be cool, let's make a play about people waiting around" and then just went with it 😴. I mean, come on, if you're gonna do an understudy ensemble, at least give 'em some real agency or depth, ya know? Instead we get two dudes playing the same roles as the originals but without any of their charm or charisma πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And don't even get me started on the staging - it's like they took every cool thing from Julius Caesar and just kinda...phoned it in πŸ’Έ. But, I gotta say, those two understudies are actually pretty interesting πŸ‘€. Maybe with a bit more development they could've made this whole thing pop πŸŽ‰.

I gotta say, I'm kinda mixed about this production of Petty Men πŸ€”. On one hand, I love that it's all about giving the understudies a chance to shine - it's like they're taking the spotlight and turning it into something new πŸ”₯. But on the other hand, I feel like they're not quite there yet...like, what if they took some more risks? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Don't get me wrong, Adam Goodbody and John Chisham are both talented actors, but I'm just not feeling that extra oomph from their performances 🎭. And as for the production itself, I'm not really sure what to make of it...is it a bold reinterpretation or just kinda...meh? 😐

omg I feel u on this one lol the idea of understudys getting their own spotlights is literally genius 🀣 can't wait to see them slay (or not) in Petty Men tbh, Adam Goodbody and John Chisham's chemistry is πŸ”₯ but yeah, it feels like they're more like caricatures than actual characters still hoping for a more polished production tho
