Phillies’ Don Mattingly Sends 3-Word Message On Answering To His Son

Phillies' Don Mattingly Sends Clear Message On Answering To His Son As Team Pursues Bo Bichette. The Philadelphia Phillies are making a push for a star player in Bo Bichette, but finding room on the payroll won't be easy due to existing significant salaries.

New York Yankees legend Don Mattingly has taken on a new role as manager of the Phillies, joining his son Preston, who is the team's general manager. Mattingly expressed how much he values working with his son, saying "He's been telling me what to do for a long time." The father-son duo aims to maintain a clear hierarchy, with Preston in charge and Don as an advisor.

When asked about their dynamic, Mattingly offered a simple yet revealing answer: "He's the boss." This suggests that despite being his son, Preston will still hold the reins at the Phillies. However, this working relationship could prove beneficial if the team wants to convince Bichette to join them, as Don Mattingly has developed a productive partnership with the shortstop during their time together in Toronto.

The Phillies' pursuit of Bichette has gained momentum, with industry insiders confident that Dave Dombrowski will find a way to land the star player. However, the team's payroll constraints pose a significant challenge. With this backdrop, Mattingly and Preston are poised to play crucial roles in navigating these negotiations and securing the future of their team.

Ugh, I'm so over the Phillies' drama 🤯. First, they're trying to steal Bo Bichette away from Toronto, and now it seems like Don Mattingly is just going to let his son Preston run the show 😒. Like, what's up with that? Can't they just have a real conversation about how to make this work instead of just saying "He's the boss" 🙄. And don't even get me started on the payroll situation... it's like they're not even trying to hide their handouts 🤑. I'm all for the dad-son duo, but can we please have some real management and strategy here? 🤔

awww thats so cool that don mattingly is working with his son preston on the philly phanatic crew! i can tell they're gonna make a great team 🤩👍 preston's all grown up now but still got his pop's wisdom & guidance which will def help him run the show as gm 😊. i hope they get bo bichette too, that would be amazing for the team! 👏💪

idk how Preston is handling being his dad's right hand man tho 🤔... i mean dont get me wrong he sounds like a cool dude and all but its weird that hes still gotta answer to don lol 🙄, what if they start having disagreements about the team strategy? wouldnt be awkward for them in front of everyone watching?

🤔 The fact that Don Mattingly is being open about having his son be the boss is kinda refreshing... like, they're not gonna sugarcoat it or try to pretend everything's perfect. Preston's been groomed for this role and he knows what he's doing. It's cool to see a family working together in baseball 🏆. And I'm curious to see how this dynamic plays out with Bichette negotiations... will it give them an edge? 😊

🤔 The thing is, having Don and Preston working together as manager and GM is actually pretty cool. I mean, it's not every day you see a father-son duo running a MLB team 🏆. And I think it's awesome that they're being clear about the hierarchy - Preston gets to make the big decisions, but Don's got some valuable experience to draw from.

But what really caught my eye was when Don said "He's the boss" 😂. It might seem like a joke, but I think it actually shows how much he trusts his son. And that trust could be key in negotiating with Bichette and other big-name players 🤑. I'm curious to see how this all plays out - if they can land Bichette without breaking the bank, it'll be a huge win for the Phillies 💪.

I don't get why they need to make a big deal about this Bo Bichette guy anyway 🤔. It's just a baseball player, right? The Phillies have some deep pockets but they're still trying to figure out how to fit him in with all the other players they've got already 💸. I'm curious though, what makes Bichette so special that everyone wants him so badly? Is he that good on the field? 🤷‍♂️ And what's up with this whole family dynamic thing between Mattingly and his son Preston? Do they really need to keep it all business-like or can they just be normal dads working together? 👪
