Philly Pops to make South Jersey debut with music from ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Encanto’

Local Philharmonic to Bring Iconic Disney Tunes and Timeless Drama to South Jersey in March.

The Philadelphia Pops Orchestra is set to make its highly anticipated debut in South Jersey next month with a concert series that promises an unforgettable musical experience. On March 14, the newly reconstituted orchestra will take to the stage at Rowan University's Pfleeger Concert Hall, performing a curated selection of film music from beloved Disney classics and award-winning dramas.

Under the baton of Australian conductor Christopher Dragon, the ensemble will treat audiences to an eclectic program featuring iconic songs from "Beauty and the Beast," "Encanto," and the Oscar-winning "Schindler's List." The concert also promises to include memorable tracks from "The Incredibles" and "Catch Me if You Can."

In a bid to create a more inclusive experience, the event will be presented in a relaxed format, designed to provide a sensory-friendly environment for individuals on the autism spectrum. The organization's commitment to accessibility reflects its mission to bring music to diverse audiences.

This upcoming concert marks an exciting milestone for the newly revived Pops Orchestra, which was reconstituted in 2023 by former members of the pre-2023 ensemble. The orchestra's name pays tribute to Music Director Emeritus Peter Nero, who had previously led the group before his passing. Dragon, a seasoned conductor with extensive experience in conducting major orchestras, brings his expertise and passion for music-making to this exciting new chapter.

Ticket prices range from $10 for youth attendees to $35 for general admission, making it accessible to a broad audience. Special discounts are offered to Rowan alumni, employees, seniors 55+, Glassboro residents, military personnel, and students.

The concert's title, "Blockbusters in the 'Burbs," aptly captures its focus on film music from Disney favorites and award-winning dramas. The event promises to be an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages, showcasing the Philly Pops Orchestra's commitment to bringing world-class entertainment to South Jersey.

Ugh I'm so done with these concert series events 🙄. It's just another thing where they're catering specifically to autism-friendly environments and special discounts for certain groups... like who's to say that people with autism can't enjoy the music without needing a sensory-friendly setting? 🤷‍♀️ And don't even get me started on how prices are dropping from $35 to $10, it's just going to attract more casual fans who aren't really invested in the music. I mean I'm not saying that's bad, but can we please have some events where people actually have to use their critical thinking skills to understand what's going on? 🎵😒

man i'm so stoked for this concert 🎵👏 i've been waiting for something like this in south jersey for ages and it sounds like they're really getting it right with a relaxed format for sensory-friendly folks that's awesome 💕 the lineup is pretty sick too - who doesn't love disney tunes and oscars winners? i'm thinking of grabbing tickets with my friends, we can make a night out of it after 🍻 but honestly, i think they're doing a great job making it accessible to everyone, from students to seniors 👴👵

I don't know if I'd wanna shell out that kind of cash for a Disney-themed concert 🤑... I mean, it's not like they're gonna invent some new magic or anything. It's just old Disney stuff we all grew up with. And $35 for general admission? That's kinda steep, especially considering the orchestra is made up of people who already get paid to play music 🎶. Still, if you're a fan of that sorta thing, I guess it's worth checking out... but don't say I didn't warn ya 😒

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." 🌟💫 You know what I mean? When they say "Blockbusters in the 'Burbs," it's not just about Disney tunes and classic films, it's about stepping out of your comfort zone and experiencing something new. And who doesn't love a good mix of old school and new school sounds? The fact that they're making this event accessible to everyone, especially those on the autism spectrum, is totally awesome! It's all about creating an inclusive experience where music lovers of all kinds can come together and enjoy some epic soundtracks. Bring it on, Philly Pops Orchestra! 🎵👏

🎵 I'm not gonna lie, I'm super stoked for this concert series! It sounds like they're doing a great job with accessibility too, which is really cool. I mean, who doesn't love Disney tunes and award-winning dramas? 🎶 The fact that it's sensory-friendly is awesome, my little sis has autism and it's always tough to navigate big crowds and loud noises. This event seems like it could be really special for her... anyway, the orchestra sounds talented, can't wait to see 'em perform! 👍

🎵 I think it's awesome that they're doing this concert series in a relaxed format for people with autism 🌈. Accessibility matters and it's great to see organizations prioritizing inclusivity 🙏. The lineup looks amazing too, especially the movies from "Schindler's List" 🎬 - that's some heavy stuff. Can't wait to check it out! 👍

🎶👏 oh boy, a concert series featuring Disney tunes? 🤣 how quaint, how sweet, how utterly predictable 😒 just kidding ( sorta) . But seriously, I'm glad they're making an effort to be inclusive and sensory-friendly - it's about time the arts world caught up with the rest of us 🙏. Also, $10 for youth attendees? that's like, almost affordable 🤑 can't wait to see this sold out show 😎

OMG 🤩, can you even imagine having a live orchestra playing those iconic Disney tunes in South Jersey? It's gonna be lit 🔥! And I love how they're making it inclusive for everyone on the autism spectrum - sensory-friendly vibes only 🌈. The program is fire 💥, from "Beauty and the Beast" to "Schindler's List", it's like a mashup of Disney magic and art-house drama. Chris Dragon as the conductor, he's got some serious skills 🎵! And the prices are super reasonable, even the youth can enjoy it for just $10 🤑. I'm def gonna grab those tix ASAP, who else is hyped? 🤩
