Protests escalate in Minneapolis after ICE agents shoot and kill Alex Pretti

Federal Agents in Minneapolis fatally shot a US citizen on Saturday during an immigration crackdown, sparking widespread outrage and protests. The 37-year-old man, identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, was killed amid a scene where federal agents attempted to disarm him.

Video footage shows the fatal confrontation unfolding near the New American Development Center, with Pretti being wrestled to the ground by six federal agents before being shot multiple times. Witnesses claim Pretti was unarmed when he was shot, contradicting claims made by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that the agent acted in self-defense.

Protesters gathered outside the shooting site, chanting anti-ICE slogans and demanding answers from authorities. The scene escalated with federal agents deploying tear gas and flash bangs to disperse the crowds. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the Trump administration's "two-month immigration siege," urging President Donald Trump to end the operation that has brought 3,000 federal officers to Minnesota.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara stated that Pretti was a lawful gun owner with no prior interactions with police, but had been targeted by DHS agents. The incident has raised questions about the conflict between state and federal law enforcement agencies in Minnesota.

The shooting is the third instance of ICE agents fatally shooting someone in Minneapolis within three weeks. The first two victims, Renee Good and a Venezuelan man, were killed during separate incidents involving immigration officers.

Governor Tim Walz expressed outrage over the incident, saying that DHS officials should be held accountable for their actions. "You kill a man and then you just leave?" he asked. "Is there a single case in American history where you just, like, walk away and say, 'I guess that just happened and we're not going to clean up our mess.'"

The incident has sparked renewed calls for accountability from local officials, who have long criticized the Trump administration's handling of immigration policies.

The parents of Alex Pretti released a statement condemning the Trump administration for "sickening lies" about their son. They claimed that Pretti was protecting a woman who had been pushed down by federal agents, but details of the confrontation remain unclear.

As protests continue to simmer in Minneapolis, tensions between state and federal law enforcement agencies remain high. The Minnesota National Guard has been deployed to provide security, amid concerns that the situation could escalate further.

This is just getting out of hand ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’€. I mean, what's going on with these agents? They're just running around willy-nilly, shooting people left and right. And now they've got the nerve to say Alex was a threat? That's some BS right there ๐Ÿ˜’. The parents are saying their son was protecting someone else, so it's not like he was just a crazy person looking for a fight. This is all about enforcing these draconian immigration policies and silencing anyone who speaks out against them ๐Ÿคฌ.

And what really gets my goat is that they're deploying tear gas and flash bangs on protesters? That's just a classic move to intimidate people into shutting up. It's like they think we're some kind of sheep who can be easily scared off by a few canisters of pepper spray ๐Ÿ˜‚. Newsflash, DHS: the people aren't buying it anymore ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ.

We need to hold these agents accountable for their actions and start questioning why this is even happening in the first place ๐Ÿค”. Is it just about numbers? Are they really counting on violence to get compliance? This whole situation is just so... suspicious ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ come on, 3k feds descending on Minny and this is what happens? a guy's unarmed and they just shoot him to death ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ก. DHS is like "oh noes we didn't mean it" and then they deploy tear gas like it's a fancy party favor ๐ŸŽ‰. And the mayor's all "condemn the Trump adminstration" but what's his office doing about it? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ just saying, if you're gonna deploy 3000 agents to do an immigration sweep, you gotta have some plan for this kinda thing ๐Ÿ“. The parents of Alex Pretti are right tho, sickening lies and a whole lotta BS ๐Ÿ˜’.

Man, this is so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ! 37 years old, just trying to live his life, and these fed agents go and gun him down. No guns on him, apparently, but who cares? They said he was a threat or whatever. This whole thing feels like some kind of setup. I mean, what's the deal with all these ICE agents just roaming around Minneapolis, looking for people to mess with? It's like they're trying to create a war zone. And now we got protests and riots... it's getting outta hand ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Something needs to change, ASAP. These politicians need to stop playing politics and start taking responsibility for their actions. We can't just sit back and let our citizens get killed by federal agents. It's not right ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ‘Ž

Umm... I think Alex Jeffrey Pretti was totally justified to fight back against those DHS agents... I mean, no way would someone just stand there and get disarmed like that ๐Ÿ™„... but on the other hand, if he really had a gun and started waving it around, that's not cool either ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... I don't know, man... can we just say both parties messed up here? ๐Ÿ’”... maybe Pretti should've communicated better with the agents or something ๐Ÿ“ฃ... but come on, DHS didn't exactly make it easy for him to talk things out, you feel? ๐Ÿค... and another thing, what's with all this tear gas stuff? Can't they just talk things out like normal people? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’ง

I'm telling ya, this whole thing is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! You got a US citizen, a regular dude, gettin' shot by fed agents and no one's gettin' the lowdown. I mean, what even happened here? Witnesses say he was unarmed, but the cops are playin' it like he was some kinda threat ๐Ÿšซ. And now we're dealin' with protests, tear gas, and the whole nine yards...it's just a mess ๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

I'm not one to take sides or anything, but come on, can't these agents just have a chat instead of shootin' people? It's like they're tryin' to make a statement or somethin' ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And what's with all this back-and-forth between state and federal law enforcement? Can't we just get along for once? ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ’” This is getting outta hand ๐Ÿšจ. Can't believe they're just walkin' away from a murder investigation like that's no big deal ๐Ÿ˜’. The fact that DHS is tryin' to downplay it and make it sound like Pretti was all up to somethin' shady? Come on, dude ๐Ÿ™„. We need some real answers here, not just a bunch of excuses and PR spin ๐Ÿ’ธ.

And what's with the two-month immigration siege? That's just cold-blooded ๐Ÿ˜ˆ. Can't we just have a civilized conversation about immigration reform without resortin' to this kinda heavy-handedness? I'm all for gettin' stuff done, but at what cost? ๐Ÿ’”

omg u guys i cant even right now... this is getting so out of hand!! ๐Ÿคฏ i feel like we need to take a step back and think about what's going on here. the fact that 3 ppl have been killed by ICE agents in minn in just 3 weeks is just insane ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and dont even get me started on the department of homeland security trying to spin this as self defense... like no one believes them ๐Ÿ™„ and i'm so mad at the trump administration for putting all these federal officers in minn without any real oversight or accountability ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ก my friend's sister is actually a nurse and she said that she saw all these ICE agents just standing around outside the New American Development Center, doing nothing ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ it's like they were waiting for someone to make a move... and then when pretti did, boom ๐Ÿ’ฅ what a terrible day for america ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I'M SO SAD ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO ALEX PRETTI!!! ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿš” it just doesn't make sense for feds to be shooting people who are not even a threat... i mean we all know there's some bad apples out there but does that justify killing someone?!?! the video footage is so sketchy and it's clear that alex was unarmed when he got shot... can't we just get to the bottom of this and figure out what really happened?!?! the fact that ICE agents are being deployed in cities without consent is just plain scary... i'm not saying all cops are bad but when you have federal agents showing up with guns drawn it's a recipe for disaster! ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm so worried about this incident ๐Ÿค•. I can only imagine how my kid would feel if they were in Alex Pretti's shoes. The fact that he was unarmed and still got shot multiple times is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”. And to think that DHS made claims that contradict what witnesses saw, it's like they're trying to cover something up. As a parent, the thought of not knowing what happened to your child in those last moments is terrifying ๐Ÿคฏ.

I don't understand why we can't have a calm and respectful conversation about immigration policies without resorting to violence ๐Ÿ’”. It seems like our politicians are more worried about being seen as tough on immigration rather than actually helping people ๐Ÿ™„. I just wish they could put themselves in the shoes of someone like Alex Pretti, who was just trying to protect himself and others from harm ๐Ÿค.

It's frustrating that we're seeing this kind of violence escalate over the past few weeks ๐Ÿšจ. As a parent, it's hard not to feel that sense of helplessness when you see your community in danger ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I just hope that we can come together as a society and demand better from our leaders ๐Ÿ’ช.

omg what's going on with these ice agents?? they're like, literally killing ppl and then just leaving them like a dead body on the street? it's so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ i don't get why ppl can't even have a convo without getting shot or something. did they not learn from all those police brutality cases? anyway, i'm kinda worried about minneapolis rn - it sounds like things are getting pretty heated there... and what's with all these protests? are people just trying to raise awareness or is it more than that?

omg what's goin on w/ this dude alex pretti?? federal agents literally shoot him dead & now ppl r protestin like crazy ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ก i dont think its right 4 DHS 2 say he was unarmed cuz they got evidence 2 the contrary. its like, wat do u even do when u get shot multiple times????!?! governor tim walz is right 2 demand accountability 4 these agents but im hopin ppl r also lookin out 4 a better way 2 handle immigration issues cuz this Trump admin thing is straight up messed up ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

What's going on with the government? ๐Ÿค” They're always saying one thing but doing another. I mean, a 37-year-old man gets shot and killed by federal agents and suddenly it's "self-defense" and "following procedure". No thanks to Trump and his admin for messing up the whole immigration system. I'm not surprised more people are protesting - they should be! The parents of that guy who got shot are right, though - there are sickening lies being told here. It's time for some accountability, like Governor Walz said. ๐Ÿ˜ก The fact that it's happening in Minneapolis is just a reminder that our own country can't even get its priorities straight when it comes to law enforcement and justice.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is so heartbreaking ๐Ÿค• alex pretti was just a 37 year old guy trying to live his life and then these agents come in and take everything away from him ๐Ÿ˜ญ. i cant believe they claimed he was armed when everyone says otherwise ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ its not right that ppl r still being killed by ice agents in minneapolis ๐Ÿšซ. mayor frey is speaking out for the first time and calling on trump to end this two-month immigration siege...about time someone did ๐Ÿ˜ค. governor walz is saying we need accountability from DHS officials and i 100% agree ๐Ÿ’ฏ. these ppl r not just targets they re human beings with families & friends ๐Ÿ™. Minneapolis needs to take a stand against federal overreach and support our local law enforcement ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

omg, what a lovely Friday ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ... can't believe another US citizen got 'justly' taken out by feds in broad daylight ๐Ÿ’€. like, who needs due process when you've got guns and aggression, right? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ i mean, the fact that DHS is trying to spin this as self-defense just makes me LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚... poor guy was unarmed and all they could do was shoot him 5 times ๐Ÿ‘Ž. and now the mayor's talking about ending this 'two-month immigration siege' ๐Ÿšซ? like, it took them THREE WEEKS to realize killing a human being wasn't the answer ๐Ÿ’”. i'm so glad MN is standing up for its people and demanding answers from our lovely Feds ๐Ÿ™„... but can we please just have a real conversation about what's really going on instead of just chanting slogans? ๐Ÿค”
