Public Enemy's Iconic 'He Got Game' Gets a Feminist Makeover: "She Got Game" is Here to Empower.
In a bold move, the legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy has flipped their iconic 1998 track 'He Got Game' into a powerful women's empowerment anthem, titled 'She Got Game'. The reimagined track features an all-star lineup of female artists and musicians, including Flau'Jae, Retina MC, Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel handling strings, and Grace Bowers on guitar.
The process for this transformation began when Flavor Flav partnered with the U.S. Women's Olympic Water Polo Team in 2024 as a sponsor. Since then, he has been vocal about his support for the team heading into the 2026 Winter Olympics. The track's release comes ahead of the Opening Ceremony set to take place on February 6th.
"She Got Game" kicks off with a stirring opening from feminist leader Gloria Steinem's Address to the Women of America speech. Flav raps, "Yeah boy, she in a league of her own/ three-point clutch, she in a zone/ I got the clocks so I got the time, she got game, so she gets to shine/ In a world full of queens, be a king." The track's lyrics celebrate women's strength and resilience.
The song is directed by Spike Lee, who also brought us He Got Game, starring Denzel Washington. The original soundtrack album from Public Enemy peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200.
Proceeds from "She Got Game" will benefit the Women's Sports Foundation and Black Music Action Coalition's Female Fund.
