A Queens Mother Indicted for Murdering Her 15-Month-Old Son
Authorities have indicted a 28-year-old mother, Nicole Boodhai, on charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of her 15-month-old son, Charlie Ramraykha. The toddler was found unresponsive in a bathtub by his father after he returned home from work and discovered that his wife had locked herself inside.
According to police, the child's father received a call from Boodhai around 10:45 am, stating that she had killed their son and intended to take her own life. The father immediately contacted his mother, who lived in the same residence, asking her to check on Boodhai and Charlie. When she discovered the gruesome scene, she was able to open the locked bathroom door with assistance from another relative.
Emergency responders attempted to revive the toddler at the scene but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Boodhai suffered wrist injuries and was taken to a hospital for psychiatric observation. She is now facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the crime.
The Queens District Attorney's office has stated that Charlie was described as "healthy and vivacious" before his tragic death, adding that they are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the toddler's demise.
