Real Madrid remain football’s top earners but Liverpool overtake Man Utd

Real Madrid has solidified its position as the world's top earner in football, raking in a staggering €1.16 billion ($1.36 billion) during the 2024-25 season, despite missing out on La Liga and Champions League titles. However, Liverpool FC has finally managed to dethrone Manchester United as the Premier League's biggest financial earners, with a fifth-place ranking of €836 million ($980.4 million).

This remarkable shift is attributed to Real Madrid's impressive 23% increase in commercial revenue, driven primarily by merchandise sales and corporate partnerships, which reached an impressive €594 million ($696.6 million). Barcelona took the second spot with €975 million ($1.14 billion), while Bayern Munich rounded out the top three with €861 million ($1.09 billion).

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool FC's success in winning the Premier League has translated into significant financial gains, marking the strongest performance by an English club in the 29-year history of Deloitte's Football Money League rankings. Manchester City and Arsenal followed closely behind, with €829 million ($721.3 million) and €822 million ($1.1 billion), respectively.

Manchester United, however, has seen its revenue decline significantly, slipping from fourth to eighth place due to their absence from European competitions and early exits from the FA Cup and League Cup. Deloitte attributes this decline to Manchester United's diminished ability to generate commercial revenue, which was once considered the industry standard.

The league's top 10 clubs now include six Premier League teams, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea rounding out the list at ninth and tenth place, respectively. Overall, global football revenues have increased by 11%, driven largely by expanded stadium usage on non-matchdays, rising sponsorship deals, and improved retail operations.

As Deloitte notes, the rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami from Major League Soccer could potentially challenge Europe's financial dominance in the future. The league's expanding popularity, coupled with its growing star power, has already had a significant impact on global football profiles.

🤑 I'm not surprised by Real Madrid's massive earnings this season 🤯, they've always been one of the most popular teams globally and their merchandise sales are insane 💸! But what's interesting is how Liverpool FC's success in the Premier League has affected their finances 💪... it shows that English clubs can be just as profitable as European ones if they perform well 🌟. I think it's a great sign for football in general, more money means better players and facilities 👍. The rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami is definitely something to watch out for though ⚽️... could we see a shift in the global financial landscape soon? Only time will tell 🕰️!

I'm not surprised to see Real Madrid at the top, they've always been known for their smart business deals 🤑. But Liverpool FC's move up to second is impressive, especially considering they didn't even win any big titles this season 😊. It just goes to show that financial backing can make a big difference in football.

I'm also loving the rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami - it's exciting to see new teams making waves in the sport 🌪️. The Premier League is looking stronger than ever, and I think we'll see some more surprises next season ⚔️.

What's interesting is how Manchester United's decline affects the whole league - they're not just losing revenue, but also influence and prestige 👑. It's a reminder that football is a business, and you can't just focus on playing the game if you want to stay competitive 💼.

lol can't believe i'm commenting 3 months late! 🙈 anyway, this is wild to think that Liverpool FC went from like 5th place last year to actually beating out man utd in the financial department. €836 million might not seem like a lot compared to madrid's €1.16 billion but it's still a huge achievement for them and shows they're getting more savvy with commercial deals 👍 plus, it's awesome to see english clubs finally getting some financial recognition after years of struggling

I'm low-key shocked by Real Madrid's massive revenue hike 🤯! That 23% increase is straight fire 🔥, and I'm not surprised they're the top earners now that they're back in La Liga 💪. But Liverpool FC pulling ahead of Man Utd is a big deal 🎉 - it shows English clubs can compete financially with the best European teams 👍. The Premier League's getting more serious about commercial revenue, and I love how Deloitte's ranking highlights this 📈. Now, if Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami can keep up their momentum, we might see some changes in the future 🤔... would be interesting to see a non-European team top the list soon! 💸

🤑 I mean, come on, €1.16 billion?! That's crazy! Real Madrid is basically printing money over there... Merchandise sales are killing it for them, no doubt about that 💸. But Liverpool FC going up the rankings? Nice to see some English clubs finally getting in on the action 🎉. Manchester United's decline is a bit worrying, though - what happens when you're not competing at the top level? Can't help but wonder if the Premier League will start to gain more financial parity with La Liga and the Bundesliga...

omg i'm like totally stunned by man u's downfall 🤯 they used to be all about the merch and sponsorships but now it seems like they can't even compete with liverpool's commercial revenue 💸 i'm also low-key impressed that liverpool managed to dethrone man u and become the new financial powerhouse of the premier league 🏆 their 5th place ranking is insane 🤯 and i have to wonder what's going on behind closed doors at old trafford...is everything okay over there? 🤔

I gotta say, it's crazy to see how much money these top teams are making off their brands and sponsorships 🤑💸. I mean, I'm glad Liverpool FC is doing well after all that drama with Klopp leaving and whatnot. But at the same time, I feel bad for Manchester United – they've been through so much in recent years and it's tough to see them slipping like this 😐. Still, I guess it just goes to show you how much money can be made off a good brand and some smart business moves 💡. And hey, with the rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami, maybe we'll see some new faces at the top in no time 🤔👀

omg, i'm so surprised that liverpool fc is now the richest premier league team 🤯👏! their success in winning the premier league definitely paid off 💸, and it's awesome to see them giving manchester united a run for their money 🏆. i think it's also super cool that barcelona and bayern munich are still killing it financially, they're like the old guard 😎. anyway, this news is making me wanna start following liverpool fc more closely, maybe they'll do some crazy transfers or signings 🤔👀.

omg I cant even believe Liverpool FC is now earning more than Manchester United lol, like what happened to them? 🤔 they must have lost so many fans after that abysmal season last year... and Real Madrid is still on top tho, €1.16 billion is insane! 💸 i wonder if they'll keep their position next season, or if someone will come along and steal the crown 💪

I'm kinda surprised about this shift in football finances 🤑. I mean, Real Madrid is still killing it, but Liverpool FC coming up from behind like that? It's awesome! 💪 I guess all that Premier League success paid off for them.

You know what's weird though? Manchester United's decline from fourth to eighth place. That must be tough for their fans 🤔. Deloitte says it's because of reduced commercial revenue, but what about their famous squad and brand value? Shouldn't they still be raking in big bucks 💸?

The Premier League is definitely the place to be for football fans right now 🔥, with all those top clubs making bank. And it's awesome to see Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea getting some love too 🙌.

I'm not sure what's gonna happen with Saudi Pro League and Inter Miami, but if they can keep up that momentum, who knows? Maybe we'll see a new era of football financials 📈!

omg did you see that real madrid is still killing it even without la liga and champs league titles their merch sales and corporate partnerships are insane 💸👕 i mean i guess liverpool's success in premier league is good for them but man united's decline is pretty crazy they used to be the ones setting the standard now they're just trying to keep up 🤷‍♂️ anyway it's cool that saudi pro league clubs and inter miami are starting to make waves maybe europe won't be the only game in town after all 🌎

🤔 I think it's crazy that Real Madrid is still raking in so much cash despite not winning any major titles this season. Their merch sales and corporate deals must be straight fire! 💸 And Liverpool FC's rise to the top of the financial rankings is super inspiring, especially after all they've been through. It just goes to show that success isn't always defined by trophies won 🏆. The fact that six Premier League teams are now in the top 10 is a testament to the growing popularity and commercial appeal of football globally 🌎. Can't wait to see how other leagues like Saudi Pro League and Inter Miami perform in the future! 🚀

Ugh, it's just great to see another year where the top teams are making bank off their brands 🤑👕 Manchester United is taking a hit and that's not surprising considering they're missing out on all those European competitions 💸 Meanwhile, Liverpool FC is getting a boost from winning the Premier League 🏆 but let's be real, it's just a small consolation when you think about the massive cash Real Madrid is bringing in each year 😳 Those commercial revenue numbers are just crazy and I'm not surprised Barcelona came in second, they've always been that dominant team 💸

man... it's crazy to think that liverpool fc is now beating man utd in terms of revenue 🤑😅. i mean, you can't blame them for getting some extra cash from winning the premier league, but 25 million more than man utd? that's wild 🔥. and real madrid still taking all the money with 116 billion... it's like they're just on a different level ⭐️. but hey, it's exciting to see liverpool and man city making some serious bank 💸. maybe we'll see some new teams rising up in the future? 🤔

Yaaas, football finances are gettin' crazy 🤑! Real Madrid's 23% increase in commercial revenue is straight fire 💥, and I'm low-key impressed that Liverpool FC is breakin' into the big league with their fifth-place ranking 🤩. Merchandise sales and corporate partnerships are key, no doubt about it 💸. Meanwhile, Manchester United's decline is a major bummer 🤕, but hey, you can't win 'em all, right? 😊 The Premier League's financial gains are on the rise, and I'm all for it 🏆. Deloitte's predictions of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami makin' waves in Europe? Bring it on! 🔥

OMG, I'm like totally shocked that Liverpool FC is now at the top of the financial game in the Premier League! 🤯 They've been killing it with their merch sales and corporate partnerships, and it's all paying off big time 💸. Meanwhile, Real Madrid's still crushing it, but not quite as much as they used to 🤑. I'm also loving how Deloitte's highlighting the impact of stadium usage and sponsorship deals on global football revenues - it's like, totally making sense why these clubs are raking in so much cash 💸💰. And can we talk about Manchester United's decline for a sec? 😱 They used to be all about that commercial revenue life, but now they're just lagging behind 👎. Anyway, I'm super stoked to see the rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami - it's gonna get interesting in the world of football finance 🔥!

🤔 omg is it possible for liverpool fc to dethrone manchester united as premier league biggest earners without even winning the title lol i dont get how they managed to do that 🤑 but seriously €836 million is insane! and barcelona is still ahead of them 😱 what changed? did manchester united really mess up their comms and merch game or was it something else? 💸 also why are saudi pro league clubs getting more popular? is there a reason they're attracting all this cash 🤑

🚀 I'm loving this new shift in football finance! Real Madrid's merch sales and corporate deals are totally on point 🛍️💼. And can we talk about Liverpool FC's Premier League win being the key to their financial gain? 🔥 It's like they finally found their footing after years of struggling. Manchester United, not so much 😐. Their decline is kinda expected considering they didn't make it past European competitions.

But what I'm most excited about is how this shift might open doors for other leagues and teams from around the world! The rise of Saudi Pro League clubs and Inter Miami is like a breath of fresh air 🌊. We'll have to wait and see if Europe's dominance holds up, but one thing's for sure - it's gonna be a wild ride 🎢.

I'm also loving the growth in global football revenues 📈! More money means more opportunities for players, teams, and fans alike 🤩. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this beautiful game 💖
