Red Cross hands over presumed remains of Gaza hostage to Israel

Israel Has Received Remains of Gaza Hostage Belonging to One of the Two Last Captives, According to Red Cross.

The Israeli government said on Wednesday that it had received the remains of a deceased hostage from Hamas militants in Gaza, which were handed over via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The body was taken into custody by Israel's military and internal security service forces in the Gaza Strip before being transported to a forensic facility for identification.

The transfer of the coffin, which is believed to be that of one of the last two Israeli hostages held captive since October 7th, has sparked hopes among families of the hostages that they may soon receive news of their loved ones' fate. However, a military spokesperson refused to confirm whether the remains found belonged to Ran Gvili, an Israeli police officer who died during a firefight in Gaza.

Gvili was one of three Israelis who were taken hostage by Hamas during a mass abduction of 31 workers from Israel on October 7th. The Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak, who had been working at Kibbutz Beโ€™eri and was among the hostages, is still being held captive in Gaza.

So far, Hamas has returned twenty living hostages to Israel, as well as the remains of 26 others, under a ceasefire deal that also requires Israel to release Palestinian bodies for every hostage returned. However, tensions between Israel and Hamas have persisted despite these efforts.

idk why people are getting all excited about this ๐Ÿค”. just because israel got some dead body doesn't mean they can finally say "oh we found our guy". what if it's not even ran gvili? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ and what's with the hype on the 20 living hostages being returned already? that's like, basic ceasefire stuff ๐Ÿ™„. and let's be real, israel and hamas are still gonna find ways to mess around ๐Ÿ”„.

I feel so bad for the families of the hostages still being held captive ๐Ÿค•... It's been months now and they're still in the dark about their loved ones' fate ๐Ÿ˜”. The fact that Israel got the remains of one of the last two captives is a good start, but it's not like it'll bring their loved ones back ๐Ÿ’€. I'm glad the Red Cross was involved in this, at least now there might be some closure for them ๐Ÿ™. But what about Sudthisak Rinthalak? He's still being held captive and we don't even know if he's okay ๐Ÿ˜ฉ... It just goes to show that despite the efforts of the ceasefire deal, tensions between Israel and Hamas are still really high ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

๐Ÿค” This is so messed up ๐Ÿ˜”. Can't believe what's happening in Gaza ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ. One minute you're holding hostages, the next they're dead & their remains are handed over like a pawn ๐ŸŽฒ. What even is the point of all this? ๐Ÿ’€ Is it just about getting bodies back or are there more sinister motives at play? ๐Ÿค

ugh what a sad day ๐Ÿค• hope those families can finally get some answers about their loved ones tho ๐Ÿ’” the red cross is literally doing everything they can to help facilitate this ๐Ÿ™ it's crazy how long it's been since these people were taken and still no word ๐Ÿ’ญ i'm sending all my positive vibes to ran gvili's family ๐ŸŒˆ

๐Ÿคž this whole situation is just so sad ๐Ÿ™... I feel bad for all the hostages and their families who are still waiting for answers about what's happening with them. 26 remains handed back already is a good start i guess, but it's not like they're coming back to life or anything ๐Ÿ’€. The Red Cross is doing its thing, which is great, but sometimes I wish there was just a straightforward way of dealing with these things instead of all the drama and tension between Israel and Hamas ๐Ÿ™„. Still, every little bit counts, right? Maybe this will be the break they need to figure out what's next ๐Ÿ‘.

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Can we just take a deep breath here? So Israeli forces got some remains from Gaza, which is basically just code for "we found a body" ๐Ÿšฎ. Like, great, now families are holding out hope that it's one of the two missing hostages... but no promises there. ๐Ÿคž Ran Gvili was one of them, allegedly. The suspense! ๐Ÿ˜… Meanwhile, Sudthisak Rinthalak is still stuck in Gaza, and Hamas is just playing nice for a bit while they hold onto their human bargaining chips ๐Ÿค‘. Twenty living hostages back for Israel? Good job, Hamas. You're like the ultimate negotiator ๐Ÿ’ฏ...

๐Ÿ˜• this is so sad ๐Ÿค• i dont know how families are coping with this news, its been ages since theyve heard anything about their loved ones... the fact that 26 remains were returned to israel already seems like a miracle to me, and now another one has turned up ๐Ÿ’€ hope it brings some closure to those grieving... still no word on sudthisak tho, hoping hes ok ๐Ÿคž

Ugh man... thinking about this is just so emotional ๐Ÿค• I remember my cousin's friend who got taken hostage by Hamas back in the day. It was like a whole nation held its breath waiting for news. The lack of info was torture ๐Ÿ˜ฉ They finally get some closure, and it's not even a confirmation if it's the person they're thinking of? That's just cruel ๐Ÿ˜” I feel bad for the families who are still holding on to hope, though. It's been ages since those hostages were taken, and I can only imagine how desperate they must be feeling ๐Ÿคž Can't we all just wish for peace and an end to this cycle of violence already? ๐Ÿ’”

the fact checker's thoughts ๐Ÿค” - this whole situation with the remains being handed over is super suspicious to me... like how can we even verify if it's really Ran Gvili or someone else? i mean, idk if i'm just being paranoid but all this feels kinda too convenient. plus, what about Sudthisak Rinthalak? still being held captive and no word? that doesn't seem right ๐Ÿšซ. the ICRC's involvement is also kinda interesting... how do we know they're not just playing both sides to get some kind of leverage or something? anyway, gotta wait and see how this all plays out ๐ŸŽฅ.

omg what's gonna happen next with Sudthisak Rinthalak ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, he's been held captive for so long already it's like he's living a nightmare... 26 other bodies were returned to their families which is nice i guess but at the same time its all so tragic ๐Ÿ™ i feel bad for his family and friends who are still waiting to hear from him ๐Ÿ‘ซ

can you imagine how heartbreaking it must be for the families of those two Israeli hostages? they've been waiting for what feels like forever for any news about their loved ones... now they're finally getting something to hold onto - a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, their family members are okay. I'm sending all my positive vibes to them and their loved ones. it's amazing how the ICRC is able to facilitate this transfer and bring some closure to these families ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’•

I'm so worried about Ran Gvili's family... receiving his remains is one thing but not knowing if it's him or not must be unbearable ๐Ÿ˜”. I feel like the Israeli government should at least provide some closure for them, even if they don't confirm whether it's Ran ๐Ÿคž. The fact that Sudthisak Rinthalak is still being held captive in Gaza is heartbreaking... those families deserve to know what's happening to their loved ones ASAP ๐Ÿ’”. And can we talk about the ceasefire deal? It sounds like a good idea, but the tensions between Israel and Hamas just keep going on ๐Ÿคฏ. I guess all we can do is wait and hope for a better outcome ๐Ÿ’•.

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure if this is a good sign or a bad one... like they say, "you can't judge a book by its cover"... or in this case, the remains of someone who was taken hostage ๐Ÿค•. The fact that Israel got them via the Red Cross is a big deal, but it's also kinda weird that we don't know for sure if it's Ran Gvili or not yet ๐Ÿ˜”. I mean, can you imagine the emotions of his family and friends waiting to hear what happened to him? ๐Ÿคฏ And then there's Sudthisak Rinthalak still stuck in Gaza... it's like, come on, Hamas, get this guy outta there already! ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ‘Š

I'm so worried about those families waiting for news from their loved ones... it's just so hard on them already, you know? ๐Ÿค• One moment they're left with questions, and the next, they might finally get some answers. The fact that Israel received the remains of one of the hostages is a big step forward, but can we please not make this about politics right now? ๐Ÿ’” My heart goes out to Ran Gvili's family and Sudthisak Rinthalak's parents - all they want is to know what happened to their kids. We should be focusing on getting them closure, you know? ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ˜’ so they just hand over some corpse to the Israelis after all this time... what's the rush? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ are we supposed to believe they're gonna identify it as one of their missing cops or something? ๐Ÿค” meanwhile, that Thai guy is still stuck in Gaza with no news, poor dude ๐Ÿ˜”. and the whole 'ceasefire deal' thing just seems like a way for Hamas to get some good PR while keeping the hostages captive... ๐Ÿ“บ you know, it's all just a big show until someone gets hurt again ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I just got back from the most random hike in the woods over the weekend ๐Ÿž๏ธ. I found this one old tree with this crazy gnarly branch that looked like it belonged in a fantasy novel ๐ŸŒณ. Anyway, I was thinking about this tree and how it's been standing there for who knows how long, just waiting to be discovered by someone like me ๐Ÿคฏ. It made me think of all the other hidden gems out there just waiting to be found... or not ๐Ÿค”. Does anyone else love just wandering around and finding weird stuff?

Can you imagine how much pain & suffering this is causing those families? It's like they're living with a ticking time bomb, not knowing if their loved ones are alive or dead ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ. And now, there's hope that maybe, just maybe, the remains of Ran Gvili will give them some closure. But it's also crazy how Hamas can return 20 living hostages and get these 26 bodies back in exchange - it feels like a game of chess to me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I mean, what's driving those families' pain? Is it even about getting their loved ones back or is it just the uncertainty? ๐Ÿค”
