I'm so concerned about Laila Cunningham's comments
. I mean, come on! Women wearing the burqa should be treated with respect and dignity, not subjected to stop and search. It's like, what's next?
Stopping someone for wearing a hoodie just because they're hiding their face?
No way, that's not how it works in our society.
I feel so sorry for Shaista Gohir and all the Muslim women who are being targeted with abusive letters and emails.
It's not okay to blame one person for something like this. Politicians should be promoting unity and inclusivity, not sowing seeds of division.
Afzal Khan is absolutely right, politicians do have a responsibility to choose their words carefully
. Let's focus on building each other up, not tearing each other down
. I hope Cunningham takes some time to reflect on her comments and apologize sincerely
