Report: Former Sixers second-round pick Charles Bassey returning to team on 10-day contract

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly signed Charles Bassey, a second-round pick from their 2021 draft class, to a 10-day contract. This move appears to be more about bolstering the team's two-way presence rather than filling out a vacant roster spot.

In recent games, forwards Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker had been seeing significant playing time for the Sixers, but there was a concern that both players would exceed their allowed number of activations due to the NBA's 90-day limit on two-way player appearances. This rule limits teams to having only two two-way players active at any given time.

By signing Bassey, who has been performing well in the NBA G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Sixers are able to avoid a potentially complicated roster management situation. It also sets up the possibility for further 10-day contracts to be issued as needed before the February 5th trade deadline approaches.

I'm so over these 10-day contracts 🙄. The NBA is all about keeping things simple and streamlined, but it feels like they're just throwing more complexities into the mix. I mean, can't teams just figure out who their actual needs are? It's not like it's rocket science. And now we have to deal with these roster management headaches because of a 90-day limit on two-way player appearances 🤯. Can't they just make the rules clear and consistent? This is more about managing expectations than actually winning games, if you ask me 😒.

so another 76er joins the party 🎉, guess that's what happens when you're desperate for depth... bassey's been doing alright in the G league, I guess it's better than nothing 👌. two-way contracts are a real pain to manage, so i suppose this is a pragmatic move on Philly's part 🤷‍♂️. still not sure how much of an impact bassey will have on the team, but hey, at least they're trying to avoid a roster headache 😅. and who knows, maybe he'll be the one who saves the day with a game-winner... or not 🙃.

I'm loving how teams like the Sixers are getting creative with their roster moves 🤔. Signing Bassey seems like a smart way to address the two-way player activation limit without having to make any tough decisions about who's gonna get cut or benched 😬. It also opens up some interesting possibilities for trades and pickups before the deadline, which could be super beneficial for fans of teams that aren't as deep in terms of talent 🤞. The key will be seeing how Bassey integrates into the team's culture and performance without disrupting the chemistry between the other players 💡.

so this move by Philly makes total sense 🤔. they're basically saying "hey we don't wanna deal with all that 90-day activation drama" 💸 and now they've got a fresh face in Bassey who's been killing it in the G League 🚀. stats-wise, his numbers are pretty promising - 12.5 ppg & 7.8 rpg so far this season. also, having him on a 10-day contract gives them flexibility to move players around as needed 🔁. just think about how this could play out leading up to the trade deadline... 📈 76ers' chances of making the playoffs are looking more solid by the day! ⚡

ugh finally some decent news about the 76ers! i've been saying it for ages, they need some depth in that frontcourt and bassey seems like a solid pickup 🤞 he's getting more minutes now and its clear why - dominick and jabari are having a great run but you can't have them both on two-way contracts at the same time. this is a smart move by the sixers, they're thinking ahead for the trade deadline and setting up for a possible playoff push 🏆
