Samsung and Intel’s OLED tech makes HDR easier on laptop battery life

Samsung and Intel's collaboration on SmartPower HDR technology promises to make High Dynamic Range (HDR) content more power-efficient for laptops. The system uses real-time data from the laptop's chipset and OLED panel to adjust the driving voltage, reducing unnecessary power consumption when displaying standard or SDR content.

The approach allows laptops to conserve battery life while still delivering vibrant colors and brightness during HDR playback. Samsung Display claims that SmartPower HDR can minimize power usage by up to 22% during general use cases and 17% during HDR content consumption. This technology essentially bridges the gap between SDR and HDR modes, making it easier for users to access the benefits of HDR without compromising on battery life.

Intel showcased this technology last year but has now expanded upon its capabilities with Samsung Display's expertise. However, no specific laptop models have been announced for SmartPower HDR yet, leaving consumers to wait until more details are revealed about when and where this technology will become available in laptops.

idk how much of a difference 22% power savings is gonna make for me...ill still be worried about running outta battery on a long flight 🤦‍♂️. but i gotta give credit to samsung and intel, they're definitely trying to bridge the gap between sdr and hdr modes. but have you seen those new laptops? they're like huge power vacuums 📈. we need some actual innovation in design, not just tweaks to old tech 💻. and what's up with no specific laptop models announced yet? sounds like a marketing ploy to me 🤑

Man, I'm still trying to wrap my head around these new display techs... like remember when we were just getting used to that OLED thing on phones? Now they're working together with Intel to make HDR even more efficient. It's wild how fast tech is progressing! The idea of being able to watch those bright, vibrant colors without draining your battery life for hours is so sick 🤩. I'm thinking back to my old laptop from 2015, it was already showing some signs of heat and strain when playing games or watching movies... now imagine having that same power saved up for all-day streaming sessions? That's like a dream come true!

omg can you believe how much power we waste on our laptops 🤯 especially when we're just chillin' and watching sdr content lol anyway i think this smartpower hdr thing is a game changer for me coz it means i dont have to worry about my battery dying after like 2 hours of use 💻 meanwhile i can still enjoy those vibrant colors and brightness during hdtv marathons 🍿 and with intel and samsung collabing its only a matter of time before we see this tech in laptops 🤔 fingers crossed we get some affordable options soon

I mean come on, 22% power savings? That's like, barely noticeable to me lol 🤣 Can you imagine having a laptop that can last a whole day on a single charge just because it has some fancy tech? It's all well and good but I'm not gonna shell out my hard-earned cash for a laptop just because it's got HDR capabilities. Can't they just make the battery life better in general? And what's with the delay, no specific models announced yet? Are they trying to keep us in suspense or something? 🤔

omg u guys, can't believe the power efficiency gains from Samsung & Intel's collaboration on SmartPower HDR tech! 🤯 according to Samsung Display, they've achieved up to 22% power savings during general use cases... that's like, crazy talk! 💻 and 17% during HDR content consumption... now we're talking 📺

im loving the fact that this tech can minimize power usage without sacrificing brightness or color vibrancy... it's like having the best of both worlds! 🔥 and the fact that Intel expanded upon its capabilities with Samsung Display's expertise is a major win 🎉

but, yaaas, consumers are gonna have to wait for laptop models to be announced... fingers crossed it drops soon! 🤞

I just read this news about Samsung & Intel's new collaboration on SmartPower HDR tech 🤔... it sounds like a game changer for laptops, especially those with OLED panels. I'm all about saving battery life so I can watch more YouTube vids without running out of juice 💻. 22% power usage reduction during general use is pretty sweet, but I'm curious to know which laptop models will actually support this tech... fingers crossed they announce something soon 🤞

OMG 🤩 I'm so stoked to hear that Samsung and Intel are working together on SmartPower HDR tech! This means we can finally enjoy vibrant colors & brightness without worrying about our laptop's battery life 😍 It's like they're solving the ultimate conundrum - power efficiency & visual quality. I'm really hoping they announce some laptops soon that incorporate this tech, it would be a total game-changer for anyone who loves gaming or watching movies on their laptop 💻 Can you imagine having a 4K UHD movie play on your laptop without it draining the battery in like 2 seconds? 🙄 It's definitely a step in the right direction and I'm excited to see where this tech takes us! 💥

I'm excited to see the progress on SmartPower HDR tech 🤩! It sounds like Samsung and Intel's collab is a big win for laptop users who love watching HDR content but don't want their battery life to suffer 💻. I mean, 22% power savings during general use is no joke ⏰. But what I'm curious about is how this tech will impact the cost of laptops that feature it 🤑. Will we see a premium price tag or can Samsung/Intel make it more affordable for the masses? Also, are there any plans to roll out this tech in other devices like smartphones or tablets? 📱💸

man thinkin about this smartpower hdr tech it makes me wonder what does power consumption really mean we're always tryin to conserve energy but do we think about the cost of that conservation like do we gotta sacrifice brightness or color accuracy just to save a lil battery life i meanHDR is all about vibrancy and immersion its not just about watchin' a movie it's about experiencin' it smartpower hdr seems like its tryna find a balance between the two but what does that balance even look like for us as consumers we need to ask ourselves if we're really willing to give up on some of that beauty for the sake of battery life 🤔

omg i'm so hyped about this new tech 🤩! like how can it make hdr content way more power efficient? is it really 22% less power usage during general use? thats crazy! i mean, we all want our laptops to last longer on a single charge, especially when we're streaming our fave shows in 4k. and the fact that its real-time data from the chipset and oled panel is adjusting the driving voltage automatically is genius 💡. can't wait to see what laptops will support this tech soon! maybe we'll finally get decent battery life without sacrificing too much in terms of performance 🤔
