Saved from extinction: Giant North Jersey dinosaurs migrating to new home

"Jersey's Jurassic Legacy Lives On: Giant Dinosaurs Set to Roam New Jersey Shore"

In a surprising turn of events, the iconic Field Station dinosaur exhibit in Leonia is closing its doors after 14 years, but the beloved life-sized animatronic dinosaurs aren't saying goodbye just yet. The herd of 31 roaring creatures, including a T-Rex, Triceratops, and Velociraptors, has been relocated to a new home along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, courtesy of Showboat Atlantic City.

The sale marks the end of an era for Field Station's founder and executive producer Guy Gsell, who poured his heart and soul into creating the hybrid outdoor dinosaur exhibit that became a staple in New Jersey. Gsell had envisioned a permanent home for the dinosaurs, ensuring they would remain together and thrive in their new surroundings.

"We're like the family who moves from a house to an apartment and has to give away their pets," Gsell explained in a recent interview. "We wanted to make sure that the pets had a nice place to go and that they stayed together."

The sale process was anything but ordinary, with inquiries pouring in from around the globe, including zoos and wealthy collectors eager to bring a piece of prehistoric history into their homes.

As the Field Station dinosaurs embark on their new journey, Gsell reflected on the impact his creation had on generations of children. The park's final weekend promises to be a nostalgic affair, with a lineup of fan favorites, live performances, and educational programming.

For Gsell, it's been an emotional rollercoaster, watching as his childhood fascination with dinosaurs has inspired countless kids over the years. "To think that I gave that to basically a whole other generation of kids makes it very gratifying for me," he said.

As the Field Station herd takes its final bow in Leonia, fans can look forward to seeing their beloved dinosaurs thrive along the Jersey Shore, bringing a touch of prehistoric wonder to Atlantic City's boardwalk.

I'm a bit worried about how this new setup will work out... I mean, 31 animatronic dinos roaming around the Atlantic City Boardwalk? That's just crazy talk! What if they get stuck in the sand or something? πŸ€” But at the same time, I can understand why Guy Gsell wanted to find a good home for his beloved creations. It's not every day you see life-sized T-Rexes and Triceratops just chillin' by the ocean.

I'm also curious about how they'll deal with the crowds and all that jazz. Atlantic City gets pretty busy, especially during the summer months. Will the dinos be able to handle it? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I hope everything works out okay for them...

I'm so down with this new dinosaur exhibit πŸ€©πŸ¦– but at the same time, I don't know if 31 animatronic dinosaurs roaming around Atlantic City is really a good idea... I mean, think about all the noise and stress those poor creatures must be going through πŸ˜‚. But then again, who am I to deny kids their childhood dreams? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ It's just that Gsell made it seem like this was supposed to be some kind of permanent home for the dinosaurs... now it feels like just another crazy business deal πŸ’Έ. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't know if I love it or hate it 😳.

OMG 🀯 I'm low-key sad that Field Station is closing down but super excited for the new home πŸ πŸ¦–! Who wouldn't want to see those giant dinosaurs roaming the Jersey Shore? πŸ˜‚ It's gonna be epic πŸ‘‘! Gsell-san did an amazing job creating this exhibit and now it'll get to reach even more people 🌎. I'm sure he's happy knowing his childhood passion brought joy to so many kids πŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ’•. Can't wait for the Atlantic City Boardwalk to become a dino-mite destination 🌟!

I feel bad for Guy Gsell and his team... πŸ²πŸ’” It's like when you're moving away from your childhood home and have to say goodbye to all the memories & friends. But it's awesome that they found a new home for the dinosaurs πŸŒŸπŸ–οΈ! Just think about how many kids were inspired by those prehistoric creatures πŸ€“πŸ’‘... and now they get to experience it again in Atlantic City 😊! It's like a second chance, but this time as a new adventure. That's what I love about life – full of unexpected twists & turns, but always an opportunity for growth & happiness πŸŒžπŸ‘

Man πŸ€” I'm low-key bummed that the Field Station exhibit is closing... it was like stepping into Jurassic Park when I was a kid πŸ˜‚. The new location with Showboat Atlantic City seems pretty cool tho 🌊. Those life-sized dinos are gonna be an amazing addition to the boardwalk! πŸ¦– It's crazy how much nostalgia is coming back for this exhibit, too... it's like, my childhood memories of playing around those dinos as a kid are flooding back πŸŽ₯. Guy Gsell did an incredible job creating something that's brought joy to so many people over the years πŸ’•. Can't wait to see the dinosaurs roaming free along the Jersey Shore! πŸ‘

Wow! πŸ¦– I'm really gonna miss those dinos at Field Station, they were so cool 😎. But now they get to roam free and entertain more people on the AC Boardwalk? That's awesome πŸ’₯. Guy Gsell must be super proud of what he created, it's amazing how much joy it brought to kids over the years 🀩. And can you imagine getting to see a T-Rex or Triceratops in person at the boardwalk? Mind blown 😲!

Wow 🀯

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of giant animatronic dinosaurs roaming free on the Jersey Shore! It's like something out of a movie πŸŽ₯. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a T-Rex and Triceratops strolling along the boardwalk? πŸ˜‚ It's like a dream come true for kids (and let's be real, adults too!) who grew up with Field Station.

I'm also loving the idea of Guy Gsell giving his beloved dinosaurs a forever home. It's so sweet to see him thinking about the impact he had on kids' lives and wanting to make sure they found a new place to thrive. 🐲❀️

OMG 🀯 I was at that Field Station exhibit last year and it was SO much fun! They had the T-Rex, Triceratops and Velociraptors roaming around like they were REAL dinosaurs πŸ˜‚. I'm kinda sad they're leaving Leonia, but I can see why they needed a new home - 31 animatronic dinos are gonna be a big hit on the AC boardwalk! 🌴 The fact that Guy Gsell is making sure they stay together as a herd is so cool πŸ‘. Can't wait to visit them again and take some sick pics with the dinosaurs πŸ“ΈπŸ¦–

OMG, did you know that I just tried this new coffee shop down the street and OMG the cappuccino game is on point πŸ€©πŸŽ‰πŸ‘! Anyway, back to those dinosaurs... I mean, can you imagine having a T-Rex roaming free along the Jersey Shore? It's like something out of Jurassic Park lol πŸŒ΄πŸ¦–. And, for real though, that Gsell guy must've put his heart and soul into creating this whole dinosaur experience. I feel bad for him that it's ending, but at least the dinosaurs get to start a new adventure πŸŽ‰. You know what'd be cool? If they had a "Dino-Encounter" area where you could pay extra to go up close and personal with those prehistoric critters πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€!

Man I'm gonna miss that Field Station exhibit so much 🀯 they were literally the highlight of my childhood trips to New Jersey. It's crazy that they're getting relocated to the Atlantic City Boardwalk tho - it's not the same as having them in Leonia, but at least they'll get more visitors now πŸ€‘. I'm glad Guy Gsell is finding a new home for his babies, though πŸ’•, and it's awesome that he got to see the impact he had on so many kids over the years 😊. The park's last weekend is gonna be lit, I bet there'll be tons of nostalgic fans showing up πŸŽ‰.

I mean, have you seen those life-sized dinosaurs roaming around? πŸ¦– It's like stepping into a real-life Jurassic Park! But seriously, it's kinda sad that Field Station is closing its doors after 14 years. I'm sure Guy Gsell put his heart and soul into creating that exhibit. I love how he made sure the dinosaurs would find a new home together - talk about family loyalty πŸ’•. Now they'll be strolling along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, bringing joy to people's faces. It's gonna be a nostalgic weekend for all the old-timers who grew up with Field Station, and new families will get to experience that magic too πŸ‘ΆπŸ¦–. The sale process was pretty wild, but I guess it's not about where you go, it's about who you're with 🀝. Bring on those T-Rexes, Triceratops, and Velociraptors!

πŸ¦– The relocation of the dinosaur exhibit to the Atlantic City Boardwalk is a fascinating example of repurposing and reimagining cultural heritage 🌊. While the closure of the Field Station exhibit marks an end to an era, I'm thrilled that the life-sized animatronic dinosaurs will continue to captivate audiences along the Jersey Shore πŸŽ‰. The fact that Guy Gsell's vision has inspired a new chapter in the lives of these prehistoric creatures is truly heartwarming ❀️. By leveraging the exhibit's global appeal and attracting interest from diverse stakeholders, the sale process highlights the power of creative entrepreneurship and community engagement 🌟.
