Scottish Cup round-up: Celtic require extra time to book quarter-final spot as St Mirren, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle progress

Celtic Overcome Lethargy, Edge Dundee in Dramatic Scottish Cup Tie

The usually formidable Celtic Park stadium was left looking half-empty when the Hoops took on Dundee in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals. But that didn't stop the visitors from putting up a spirited performance. In a game marked by drama and tension, Junior Adamu's last-minute goal helped Celtic edge out their opponents 2-1 in extra time.

Adamu's strike came after he had equalised for the Hoops just minutes into the match, ending a period of Dundee dominance. His introduction off the bench seemed to galvanise Celtic, who then held on for a hard-fought victory.

Despite his goal, Adamu was not the only debutant to make an impact, with fellow substitute Sebastian Tounekti scoring the winner in extra time. The match was marked by an unusual atmosphere, which saw Celtic's usual fans' fervour muted due to the club's board being targeted by supporters.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed hope that his players can find a "middle ground" between their on-field success and off-field issues, as fan frustration continues to simmer. For now though, he will be focusing on getting his side to the next round of the competition.

In related news, St Mirren, Dunfermline Athletic, and Partick Thistle also progressed to the quarter-finals, with each side securing impressive victories over their respective opponents.

St Mirren beat Airdrieonians 2-1 in a tense match, while Dunfermline defeated Kelty Hearts 2-0 in the Fife Derby. Meanwhile, Partick Thistle squeezed past Elgin City 3-2 in a closely contested encounter.

The quarter-final draw has been announced, with Stenhousemuir and Falkirk set to meet on Sunday. In other fixtures, Rangers welcome Queen's Park to Ibrox, while local rivals Stenhousemuir and Falkirk will clash at Ochilview Park on Sunday.

omg that was such a dramatic match 🀯! i'm still trying to process what happened in the last minute of the game 😱 adamu's goal was insane! but u know what really caught my attention? the atmosphere in the stadium was so weird, with fans targeting the club board 🚫 it's like they were sending a message about all the issues that are going on off the pitch πŸ€” i feel bad for celtic, they deserve better than to have their fans turn on them πŸ˜” but at the same time, it's good to see the other teams doing well and moving forward to the next round πŸ’ͺ st mirren, dunfermline athletic, and partick thistle are all making a great impact in this tournament πŸŽ‰ can't wait to see what happens next!

Man, what a game! I know Celtic's fans were feeling down about the board being targeted, but it's great to see them bouncing back like that. Junior Adamu and Sebastian Tounekti are absolute game-changers! 🀯 And yeah, the atmosphere at Celtic Park was pretty unusual, but I guess when you're dealing with fan frustration, you've gotta find a way to calm things down, right? ⚠️

I feel for Martin O'Neill, though - he's got his work cut out for him trying to balance on-field success with off-field issues. But that's all part of the job, and I'm sure he'll get there in the end. And who knows, maybe this quarter-final run will bring some positivity back to the club? Fingers crossed! 🀞

Ugh, Celtic just won 2-1 in a Scottish Cup tie against Dundee after their fans were all distracted by the board being targeted... meanwhile, I'm over here trying to watch the match online and it's buffering like crazy because of the high demand πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨. And don't even get me started on the fact that Celtic's manager is already talking about finding a "middle ground" between his team's success and their off-field issues... can't they just focus on winning matches instead of playing politics? πŸ˜’πŸ‘Ž

can't believe they're still having issues off the pitch πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ like what's the deal with the fans targeting the board? shouldn't be a problem just watching a football match, right? anyway, glad Celtic managed to pull it together in the end, Adamu's goal was insane ⚽️ but seriously, how do u expect them 2 find a "middle ground" when they're still being all secretive about things? πŸ€”

man this scottish cup is always crazy!!! i was there live when celtic came back from 1-0 down and won against st johnstone last season 🀯 adamu's goal was insane, he literally scored out of nowhere! and the atmosphere at celtic park was super weird with people targetting the board πŸš«πŸ‘Ž. but i guess that's just part of the game right? anyway, on to the next round - st mirren beating airdrieonians 2-1 is sweet revenge for them after getting smashed by the steelmen last season 😏 and rangers are gonna have to bring their A-game if they wanna take down queen's park πŸ€”

omg u guys i just saw dis match & it was insane!!! 🀯 celtic took dundee all da way 2 extra time an Adamu scored dat last minute winner πŸŽ‰ but what's wif da atmosphere?? 😩 seems like d fans got a lil mixed up cuz de board got targeted lol guess its good 4 celtic tho they're movin on 2 da next round πŸ’ͺ anyway i think its kinda cool how different clubs r makin moves 2 get 2 da qf 🀝 an dont forget about st mirren, dunfermline, an partick thistle who all made it thru too! πŸ‘

Ugh, Celtic think they can just waltz in here after being half-empty and still manage to win? Like, what's going on with those fans? All that drama and tension just for a 2-1 win πŸ€”. And Adamu just scores at the last minute, like it's not even a big deal... where was he all game? Should've been on the pitch from the start, if you ask me πŸ˜’. And don't even get me started on those fans targeting the board... what's next, gonna riot in the stands now? 🚨

πŸ€” So this is what happens when the whole stadium looks like a half-empty shell... like anyone was really that excited about this match? πŸ“‰ i mean don't get me wrong, Celtic's comeback was sick (or whatever) but 2-1 in extra time feels kinda lame. I'm all for underdog stories, but is this really what we're supposed to be rooting for now? 😐

omg what a game!!! i'm literally shaking with excitement πŸ˜‚πŸ† adamu's goal in extra time was insane!!! i don't get why the stadium was half empty tho, didn't they know it was gonna be a thriller? πŸ€” anyway congrats to celtic on making it through πŸŽ‰ and btw what's going on with celtic fans?? seems like there's some drama off the pitch 🀝 hoping martin o'Neill can get everything sorted out soon πŸ‘
