Sharks’ Misa injured again, to miss start of Canada’s World Juniors camp

San Jose Sharks Forward Michael Misa to Miss Start of Canada's World Juniors Camp Due to Injury

Michael Misa, the 18-year-old center for the San Jose Sharks, will miss the start of Canada's training camp for the upcoming World Junior Championship due to an undisclosed injury. The injury is considered day-to-day and has been a recurring issue for Misa in recent weeks.

Misa was seen on the ice with Joe Thornton at the Sharks' practice facility on Friday morning, going through drills with the Hockey Hall of Famer. However, he will not be able to join the Canadian team's training camp, which is set to continue until December 22. Canada's first game at the World Junior Championship is scheduled for December 26.

Misa had previously sustained a right ankle injury in early November and was only recently cleared to play again. He has since been playing with the Sharks' AHL affiliate, collecting one assist in two games on December 5 and 6 against the Tucson Roadrunners. Despite his recent return from injury, Misa is expected to miss significant time.

Misa's absence will be a significant blow to Canada's team, which aims to win its first World Juniors gold medal since 2023. The Canadian forward was drafted second overall by the Sharks in July and was one of the top scorers in the Ontario Hockey League last season with 134 points in 65 regular-season games.

The Canadian Hockey League also announced that Marek Vanacker of the Brantford Bulldogs will be added to the team's training camp roster, starting on Saturday. The team is expected to have a strong lineup for the World Junior Championship.

🤕🏒️ Oh no! 🙅‍♂️ Michael Misa's injury is like a big X marked on Canada's chances of winning that gold medal 💎👊. He was supposed to bring that fire 🔥 and lead by example, but now he'll be missing out on the start of camp and most likely a bunch of games 🤕. The team still looks strong tho 👍, with Vanacker joining the mix 🎉. Hopefully Misa recovers soon and can make a comeback 💪, but for now... 🙏

🤕 So bummed for Canada at the WJC 🏒️... Misa was gonna bring so much energy to that squad! 🌟 I mean, 134 points in 65 games? That's insane! 😲 He's been grinding all season with the Sharks' AHL team too 💪. Hope he recovers ASAP and can make a comeback for the big game on Dec 26 🕰️... Marek Vanacker sounds like a solid addition tho 👍!

Aww man, this sucks for Misa and Canada's chances at the World Juniors 🤕! I was really hyped to see him take the ice with Team Canada, but injuries can be tough to shake off 💔. I'm hoping he'll make a speedy recovery so he can join up with the team later on ⏱️. Marek Vanacker is gonna have to step up and prove himself, though - that's some big shoes to fill 🤓!

omg i just had the craziest thought while reading about misha's injury... did you know that there's this new ice cream shop in san jose that makes the most epic cookie dough flavor 🍦👀 i swear, it's like a party in your mouth! and have you seen those adorable puppies on instagram? my friend's sister just got one of those fluffy pomeranian breeds and it's literally the cutest thing ever 🐾❤️ anyway, back to misha... i hope he recovers soon 🤞

Ugh 🤕, this is just great news 🙄. Can't believe Misa's injury issues are gonna keep him out of Canada's chances at that World Juniors gold medal ⏰. I mean, they already lost their top pick and now he's out for a significant time. This just feels like another injury bug ruining an already stacked Canadian team 🐜. And to make matters worse, Vanacker's addition is gonna be a huge help, but it's not gonna fill Misa's void 😐. Canada's gotta regroup and hope their other guys step up... but that doesn't feel good right now 😞.

Aww man 😔... this is bad news for Canada's chances at winning it all! Misa was gonna bring so much energy to that team 🤩. I feel for him, though - gotta be tough dealing with these recurring injuries 💪. Hope he's back on the ice soon and can get some more experience in before the World Juniors start 🚀. But it's not all doom and gloom 🌈 - adding Marek Vanacker to the roster is definitely a positive move! Maybe this will just be a minor setback for Canada? 🤞

awww man what a bummer 4 Michael Misa 🤕 hope he recovers quick so he can make it back 2 Canada's team gotta be super tough 2 watch him play, such a talented young player 💪 & this 4 Canada, they're really pushing 4 that gold medal 🏆

ugh i cant even believe this 😩 michael misa is one of the top prospects for canada and now he's gonna miss the start of training camp? that's just not right 🤦‍♂️ i mean i know injuries happen but come on, day-to-day? what does that even mean? 🤔 canada needs him to win this thing and i'm super worried about it 😬 but on a positive note, marek vanacker sounds like he could be a solid addition to the team 👍 let's just hope misa recovers quickly and gets back out there 💪

aww, sucks for Misa 🤕 hope he recovers fast so he can join Canada's team soon! 🙏 the injury bug is like, super annoying 🐜 these young players are already dealing with so much pressure and stress in their careers... gotta feel bad for him 🤝 on the bright side, his AHL stint was a good opportunity to get some game time under his belt 💪

Aww man 😔... Misa's injury news is super bumming! He was really looking forward to representing Canada at the World Juniors and had a shot at making an impact 🤞. Now, with him out, it's gonna be tough for our team to fill his spot. Marek Vanacker coming in might help tho 👍... fingers crossed he brings that same fire 🔥! Still hoping Misa recovers ASAP so we can see him back on the ice 💪

Ugh, this is what I get when I try to follow my favorite hockey teams online 🤦‍♂️... San Jose Sharks' forward Michael Misa is out for Canada's World Juniors camp due to injury, and I'm still trying to figure out how he got cleared to play again after a right ankle issue in early November 🤷‍♂️. It's like the NHL's concussion protocol wasn't enough or something. Anyway, not my problem... Marek Vanacker is gonna fill his spot? Okay, cool, I guess that's what happens when you're just trying to follow your favorite team online 💻😒

🤕 Ah man, this is such a bummer! I was really looking forward to seeing Misa play in the World Juniors 🏒️. He's got so much potential and I think he could've been a game-changer for Canada. Now it's gonna be tough without him... 😬 But on the bright side, Marek Vanacker is joining the team, maybe that'll help fill the void? 🤔 And let's not forget Joe Thornton was out there with him on Friday, so I'm sure he'll do everything he can to support Misa's recovery 💪. Fingers crossed for his speedy return! 💥

😊 I'm actually kinda stoked about this, you know? Like, Michael Misa's injury might just give him some time to work on his game and come back even stronger for Canada at the World Juniors! And hey, having Marek Vanacker join the team's training camp roster is a great addition - that's more talent and depth for our Canadian boys 🤩. Plus, it's not like they're gonna win or anything if Misa's playing... just saying 😜. The injury could be an opportunity in disguise! 🌞

🤕 Aw man, this is bad news for Canada's chances at the World Juniors... I was really hoping Misa would come in and bring some energy to the team 😬. He's such a talented player and it's a bummer that he's gonna be out with an injury for a while. Hopefully he can get back on the ice soon without any major setbacks 🤞. But even though he's not playing, I'm sure he'll still be cheering them on from the sidelines 🏒💪. Do you think Canada's got what it takes to win their first gold medal since 2023? 🤔

omg I'm literally dying over here!!! 😱 Misa was supposed to bring some fire to Canada's World Juniors squad and now he's out with an injury?!? 🤕 what if he gets hurt worse?!?! this is like, the worst timing ever! 💔 did you see those vids of him skating with Joe Thornton tho?!? that guy is like a hockey god! 😍 can't wait to see Marek Vanacker join the team though! 🎉💪

🤔 Misa's injury timing is pretty bad considering Canada's got their sights set on that gold medal 🏅. Hopefully, he'll make a speedy recovery so he can contribute when it matters most 👍💪

🙄 I mean come on, an 18-year-old can't even make it to Canada's training camp without getting hurt? What's next, they're gonna have to cancel the whole thing because of a minor cold 🤒? Misa was already cleared to play after his ankle injury and now he's out again? That's just not fair to the team. And what about all those fans who were looking forward to seeing him on the ice for Canada? Now they're gonna have to watch some other kid from the AHL step up instead 🤷‍♂️.

And don't even get me started on the fact that they're adding Marek Vanacker to the team's roster at this late stage. I mean, isn't that a bit last-minute? What if he gets hurt too? The Canadian hockey team is supposed to be trying to win its first gold medal in years and now it looks like they're gonna have to rely on backup players 🤦‍♂️.
