Shooter who killed Brown students, MIT professor had been planning for months and left videos, officials say

The Brown University shooting suspect, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, spent months planning the attack, according to federal officials. The 48-year-old Portuguese national recorded a series of short videos after the violence, which included no clear motive and suggested significant preparation. In one of the videos, Valente said he had been planning for at least six semesters and claimed that no one had ever sincerely apologized to him in his lifetime.

Valente's videos also revealed that he opened fire inside a Brown auditorium on December 13, wounding nine students and killing two - Ella Cook, 19, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, 18. Two days later, authorities say Valente fatally shot MIT professor Nuno Loureiro at his home near Boston.

In one of the videos, Valente said he had previously considered carrying out a shooting at Brown but "always chickened out." The motive behind the shooting and the attack on Loureiro remains unclear. Federal officials stated that Neves Valente showed no remorse during the recordings, exposing his true nature when blaming innocent children for their deaths.

A Reddit user who encountered Neves Valente at Brown University is credited with providing crucial clues that helped authorities track him to a storage unit in New Hampshire. Neves Valente's last known address was in Miami, and it appears he attended Brown as a Ph.D. physics student before withdrawing in 2003.

An investigation into the possible motive behind the shooting will continue, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

idk how can u believe that this guy planned all those things 4 months or more? thats crazy! i think hes just some whacko who snapped and we dont no what triggered him. whats w/ all these vids he recorded? like, what r they even gonna do w/ them? anyway, i dont think he showed no remorse bc maybe he was just scared and didnt know how 2 deal w/ his own emotions ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ this guy is like something out of a horror movie all these months planning & recording himself, it's just not right ๐Ÿšซ...he didn't even have a clear motive, just rants about people never apologizing to him ๐Ÿ˜’...and now he's gone, but the trauma for those students & families will last forever ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค” this guy is so messed up ๐Ÿšซ... six semesters of planning and no one ever apologized to him ๐Ÿ˜ข? what a huge red flag ๐Ÿšจ... i mean, who talks like that in public and records it? ๐Ÿ“น also, fatally shooting a professor two days after the college incident is just on another level ๐Ÿ˜ฑ... i'm all for getting to the bottom of this motive thing, hope they find out why he did what he did ๐Ÿ’ก

Ugh, this is so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, can you even imagine being in a situation where someone's planning to do something like that? It's terrifying just thinking about it. And Claudio Neves Valente had months of planning, just casually recording videos and talking about how nobody ever apologized to him... like, what even is that supposed to be an excuse? ๐Ÿ˜’

It's also super sad that we lost two lives - Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. They were young and full of life. And the fact that Neves Valente targeted them specifically, without any clear motive or remorse... it just feels so senseless. ๐Ÿค•

But you know what really gets me? The fact that someone reported him to Reddit and helped bring him down. We need more people like that in the world, who are willing to speak out and make a difference. ๐Ÿ’ช

omg u guys i'm literally shook ๐Ÿ˜ฑ claudio valente sounds so creepy what's wrong with him? ๐Ÿค• i mean like he planned this thing for months & then records these vids & is all like "no one ever apologized to me in my life"... ๐Ÿ™„ it's like, dude, that's not an excuse for killing people! ๐Ÿ’” and how sad that 9 students got hurt ๐Ÿ˜ญ & 2 ppl lost their lives... rips. i'm trying to process everything rn but idk what else to say ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing ๐Ÿคฏ. According to FBI data, mass shootings like this have increased by 50% since 2010, with an average of 3-4 incidents per month in the US ๐Ÿ’ฅ. The average age of shooters is around 25-30 years old, and most are male โš–๏ธ.

If we look at mental health stats, 1 in 5 people will experience some form of mental illness each year ๐Ÿค. Yet, only 1% of those with severe mental illnesses receive treatment ๐Ÿ“‰.

Neves Valente's backstory is also quite telling. He attended Brown as a Ph.D. physics student but dropped out in 2003 ๐Ÿ“š. Did he struggle with his studies or was there something else going on? We might never know for sure.

Here are some more stats to chew on:

* The odds of being shot by someone who has planned an attack like this are 1 in 750,000 ๐Ÿคฏ.
* The average response time for emergency services during mass shootings is around 5-7 minutes โฑ๏ธ.
* According to a study, the most common motivations behind mass shootings are feelings of isolation and a desire for revenge ๐Ÿ“Š.

The investigation into Neves Valente's motive will continue, but it's clear that this was a complex web of factors leading up to the tragedy ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿค• I'm so shaken by this news ๐Ÿคฏ. Six semesters of planning? That's just insane ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Can't imagine what would drive someone to such a horrific act ๐Ÿ’”. And the fact that he thought he'd chickened out on a shooting at Brown but went through with it is just mind-boggling ๐Ÿ™„. The lack of remorse in those videos is chilling ๐Ÿ“น. I hope the investigation uncovers some answers and brings justice to the victims' families ๐Ÿ‘ช๐Ÿ’• #JusticeForEllaAndMukhammad #BrownUniversityShooting #NeverForget

๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is so sad ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” think about those poor students who got hurt by some crazy guy ๐Ÿ˜จ he was planning it for months and then just went for it ๐Ÿ’ฃ it's like he didn't care about anyone except himself ๐Ÿ™„ and that one video where he says no one ever apologized to him in his life? ๐Ÿ’ฏ that's so messed up ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ why did he have to go out and hurt others instead of just talking things through? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ the guy who found Neves Valente at Brown is a hero ๐Ÿ™Œ for helping the cops catch him ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ now we just gotta wait and see if they figure out what made him do this ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ญ

๐Ÿ˜ฑ just heard about this crazy news, someone spent months planning an attack at Brown University ๐Ÿคฏ! Can't believe how much prep went into it, like he was just waiting for the perfect moment to strike ๐Ÿ’ฃ. And the fact that he recorded videos after the violence is so disturbing ๐Ÿ“น. No clear motive, but the lack of remorse he showed is super alarming ๐Ÿ˜ณ. The Reddit user who helped authorities track him down is a total hero ๐Ÿ‘! And now there's another killing in Boston... this is just getting too real ๐Ÿคฏ. We need to figure out what drove someone like Neves Valente to do such horrific things ๐Ÿ’”. Can't stop thinking about the victims and their families ๐Ÿ™. This case is going to take a while to unravel, I hope justice is served soon ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ #BrownUniversityShooting #MassacreInTheUSA #JusticeForTheVictims

I'm really shaken by this recent incident at Brown University ๐Ÿค•. It's wild to think that someone could spend months planning an attack like that. The fact that he recorded videos after the fact, showing no remorse and blaming innocent kids for their deaths... it's just so disturbing ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

I've been reading through those Reddit comments where someone says they met him at Brown and recognized him from his old profile pics ๐Ÿค”. That must have been super creepy for them. And now we know that he had a storage unit in New Hampshire, which is just a whole other level of chilling ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

It's also crazy to think about how much planning went into this attack - six semesters, or whatever it was... I mean, what drives someone to spend that kind of time and energy on something so violent? We need to get to the bottom of this motive ASAP ๐Ÿ’ก.
