Snow accumulations unlikely for NYC, officials warn of 'wet and messy' commute Tuesday

New York City Braces for Wetter Commute Ahead of Coastal Storm

Residents can expect a relatively brief winter weather scare on Tuesday as a coastal storm brings snow flurries to the area before transitioning into a wet and messy commute. While temperatures will be at their coolest early in the morning, meteorologists predict that any snowfall will be short-lived, with rain taking over within hours.

According to Bryan Ramsey, a local meteorologist, "we're kind of leaning towards more of an all-rain forecast." The worst of the storm is expected to hit further inland, leaving Western New York and surrounding areas bracing for heavier snowfall totals. Orange County is particularly at risk, with predictions of 4-7 inches of accumulation.

However, NYC itself will remain relatively dry, with a mere half-inch of rain forecast by the end of Tuesday evening. In response, emergency management officials are activating the city's flash flood plan, warning residents of "potentially wet and messy" conditions and poor-drainage areas that may be prone to flooding. Residents are advised to clear out clogged catch basins or contact 311 for assistance.

While the storm will subside by nightfall, gusty winds are expected to persist, reaching speeds of up to 30mph. Drier skies on Wednesday evening give way to a cold and dry workweek ahead, with temperatures plummeting to the low teens or upper 20s by Thursday night. The weekend is expected to be a welcome respite from the chill, with highs returning to around 40ยฐF (that's Celsius for you folks!)

Ugh I'm so over this winter thing ๐Ÿคช! First it's snow, then it's rain... can't we just have a decent summer already? ๐Ÿ˜’ I mean I know coastal storms are nothing new, but still... who needs 4-7 inches of snow in Orange County? โ„๏ธ And poor drainage areas getting flooded? Not fun for anyone. ๐Ÿšฎ Can't wait for Wednesday and the dry weather though, my car's been stuck in the mud all weekend ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฆ

Ugh, great, just what I needed - more snowmageddon drama in NYC ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ. Can't we all just have one day without flooding or snow-covered sidewalks? Anyway, at least it'll be over by Tuesday evening, and I can get back to tolerating the commute ๐Ÿ˜’. Those 4-7 inches of rain in Orange County sound like a real treat - just what I wanted, more water on my shoes ๐Ÿ’ฆ. And don't even get me started on the wind ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ... I swear, it's going to be one of those weeks where I have to wrestle with my umbrella just to walk from the subway to my office ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Can we just fast forward to a dry, cold week already? โฑ๏ธ

Ugh, I'm so over these winter storms already ๐Ÿคฃ! Like, can't we just have some nice warm weather for once? And what's up with all the different forecasts? First it's snow, then rain, and now they're saying it'll be like that? Anyway, I guess I'll just bundle up and deal... โ„๏ธ I'm more worried about those gusty winds, though - 30mph is crazy! Did you see the prices of those storm prep kits on Amazon? Ridiculous! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND! A WARMER WEEKEND IS JUST WHAT WE NEED AFTER ALL THAT RAIN AND SNOW. I HOPE THE FLASH FLOOD PLAN WORKS WELL AND NOONE GETS CAUGHT OFF GUARD BY THE WET CONDITIONS. I MEAN, COME ON 311, YOU GOTTA DO BETTER THAN JUST TELL US TO CALL YOU WHEN IT'S REALLY NEEDED!

Ugh, winter is back ๐Ÿฅถ I remember when it first started last year and we all thought it was gonna be a mild one. Now this storm is looking like it's gonna make the commute a real mess. Like, can't we just get some decent sunlight around here? The orange county part of NYC is always the worst with snow... who even prepares for that kinda stuff? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ I mean, have you ever stopped to think about how quickly our perception of 'winter' changes just because it gets rainy? We're always conditioned to associate snowflakes with cold and gloomy vibes, but what happens when the white stuff turns into rain? Does that make winter less harsh or more unpredictable? ๐Ÿค” It's like, we know better than to trust the weather forecast, you know? It's like our minds are constantly trying to balance out the extremes. And then there's the whole idea of 'wet and messy' conditions... is it really a bad thing when nature decides to get a little more exciting? ๐ŸŒ‚๏ธ I'm not saying the storm isn't going to be a pain, but maybe we should reframe our thinking around winter weather. Maybe it's just Mother Nature's way of shaking things up. ๐Ÿ˜

omg this storm is gonna be so bad!! i hope everyone is ready for those heavy snowfall totals in orange county! ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฌ but on the bright side, nyc will only get a little rain which is def better than a full-blown winter wonderland mess ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘ let's all just stay safe and warm this week end and enjoy that cold dry weekend ๐ŸŽ„โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ ugh i dont like it when nyc gets hit by storms its always so inconvenient getting flooded in ur car or having to deal w/ all that wet mess on the subway ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’ฆ at least its gonna be short lived tho and they're activating that flash flood plan which is good to see them taking precautions anyway, the orange county areas are really gonna get slammed btw 4-7 inches is a lot โ›ˆ๏ธ

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ stormy times ahead! NYC better get its drainage game on point ASAP... can't imagine having to deal with flooded streets and whatnot ๐Ÿ˜…. Glad it's not gonna be a full-on snowpocalypse, but still kinda bummed about the rain โ›ˆ๏ธ. Orange County is already looking like a total mess ๐Ÿคฏ. On the bright side, temps are supposed to go way back down by Thursday... time to break out the thermals! ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

OMG u guys!!! I'm kinda super stoked about this coastal storm ๐ŸŒช๏ธ! Like, yeah it's gonna bring some rain and wet commutes, but at least NYC is spared from the worst of it ๐Ÿ™. And 4-7 inches in Orange County? That's like, a major snow day in my book โ„๏ธ! Plus, after this mess settles down, we're getting a cold and dry workweek which can only mean one thing... fewer umbrellas on the street ๐Ÿ˜‚. The weekend is gonna be amazing too, with temps back to normal. Bring on the sunshine (just kidding, it's still NYC ๐Ÿ˜‰). On the bright side, all that rain should help our poor plants grow like crazy ๐ŸŒฑ. Silver linings all around! ๐Ÿ’ซ
