Software firm belonging to Tory donor Frank Hester pays out £50m dividend

A software firm owned by a major Tory donor has handed out a whopping £50m dividend to its investors after seeing significant growth in sales and profits.

Frank Hester's company, TPP Group, specialises in healthcare technology and provides the SystmOne software to the NHS. The firm uses this system by 7,800 NHS organisations, including over 2,600 GP practices and a third of acute mental health trusts. The electronic health records stored in its database total an astonishing 61 million.

According to recent annual accounts filed with Companies House, TPP Group has seen turnover increase by 13% to £97.1m, up from the previous year's figure. This has also led to pre-tax profits skyrocketing to £47.4m, a significant jump from last year's £17.4m.

The company paid Hester a salary of £520,000 in the recent financial year, with the majority owner holding at least 75% of the shares. Interestingly, Hester donated £10.2 million to the Conservative party in the previous year alone, along with more than £20 million since 2023.

It's worth noting that Hester has been involved in some controversy. In 2019, he made comments about Britain's first black female MP, Diane Abbott, which were deemed racist by many. The remarks have sparked heated debates and raised questions about the influence of big donors on politics.

As one of the key suppliers to the NHS, TPP Group has received millions from public contracts since 2016. This has contributed significantly to Hester's personal fortune, now estimated at £415 million, according to the Sunday Times rich list.

While the company remains tight-lipped about its latest financials, the recent payout is a testament to its success in the healthcare technology sector.

I'm not surprised they're making a killing with that NHS contract 🤑. I mean, it's only fair that companies are rewarded for their hard work and innovation, right? But £50m dividend? That's just excessive 💸. I'm sure there are some concerns about the company's influence on politics and Hester's questionable past comments 🤔. Still, TPP Group has clearly hit the jackpot with its SystmOne software. The NHS is probably breathing a sigh of relief that they have this reliable system in place to manage all those patient records 💻. On one hand, it's awesome that Frank Hester has made a tidy sum from his company's success 🎉, but on another hand, I wish there were more transparency about the deal and how TPP Group is using its public contracts 💸. Guess you can't put a price on that kind of thing... maybe 🤑

This is just another example of how our politics and economy are intertwined 🤑💸. I mean, who decides that £50m is a fair dividend for investors when the NHS is still struggling to meet its healthcare demands? It's like we're playing a game where those with deep pockets can influence the outcome.

And let's not forget about Frank Hester's background - his donation history raises questions about how much sway he has over politicians. Is this what they mean by 'special relationships'?

We need transparency in these transactions, and an explanation for why public funds are being used to line the pockets of big donors like Hester. It's time to break the cycle of crony capitalism and ensure our public services are prioritized over corporate interests 🤝💪

I think this is bloody ridiculous! 🤑💸 £50m dividend to investors? That's just daylight robbery! I mean, these people are basically profiting off our NHS without giving anything back to society apart from their own bank account. And Frank Hester's donation history is just shady – all those millions he's given to the Tories and nothing in return except a fat salary and a fortune. It's like he's playing the game of life with our healthcare system, using it for his own gain. The NHS is meant to be about people not profit! 💔👎

🤔 I'm not surprised by TPP Group's hefty dividend payout, considering their significant growth in sales and profits over the past year. It's indeed impressive that they've managed to increase turnover by 13% to £97.1m and pre-tax profits have skyrocketed to £47.4m 📈

However, I do find it concerning that the majority owner, Frank Hester, has a history of making inflammatory comments, including those about Diane Abbott in 2019 🤦‍♂️. While I don't condone hate speech or discriminatory language, it's essential to acknowledge the impact such statements can have on marginalized communities.

It's also worth noting that the close ties between TPP Group and the Conservative party raise questions about the influence of big donors on politics 💸. As a major supplier to the NHS, the company's financial success is partly due to public contracts, which may lead to conflicts of interest 🤝

Despite these concerns, it's undeniable that TPP Group has made significant contributions to the healthcare technology sector and has received substantial funding from public contracts 📊. The recent payout serves as a testament to their success, but also underscores the need for greater transparency and accountability in corporate dealings 💪

can't help but think that £50m dividend is a bit excessive considering TPP Group's history with controversy 🤔💸. Hester's comments about Diane Abbott were super hurtful and it's weird how his donations to the Tory party somehow influence his company getting more NHS contracts 🚧💰. don't get me wrong, growth in sales and profits are great but let's not forget where that money is coming from 💯

💸 50m pound dividend? That's crazy! TPP Group must be killing it with their NHS software and records, huh? 🤔 I mean, 61 million electronic health records stored in their database? That's like, whoa! 📊

But for real though, £415 million personal fortune? That's a lot of clout 💼. And let's not forget about the controversy surrounding Frank Hester and those racist comments back in 2019... 🤦‍♂️ Not cool, dude.

I'm just curious, what's driving this huge growth for TPP Group? Is it the NHS deals or something else entirely? 🤔 Either way, I'm not surprised they're raking in that cash 💸. They must be doing something right! 😊
