Solskjær would be a huge risk for Manchester United's beleaguered hierarchy | Jamie Jackson

Manchester United's board faces a potentially disastrous decision in bringing back Ole Gunnar Solskjær as interim manager. The Norwegian's past stint was marked by inconsistency and controversy, culminating in his departure after just six months of the 2019-2020 season. Despite this, Jason Wilcox, the director of football, and Omar Berrada, the chief executive, may be tempted to revisit Solskjær, citing his previous success as interim manager.

However, history suggests that this would be a huge gamble. In his first stint, Solskjær led United to a 14-game unbeaten run, but the team's performance ultimately suffered during the latter stages of the season. The same pattern could repeat if he were brought back now.

Solskjær's past failures have been well-documented, including his handling of high-profile defeats and his inability to connect with certain players. Moreover, the club's current state – 31 points from 19 games, same as Chelsea in fifth place – indicates that there are significant issues to be addressed, rather than just a need for a spark.

If Solskjær were to return, it would likely be seen as a sign of desperation from the board. The consequences of his second stint being equally disastrous would be dire, with fan morale already at an all-time low and the team's reputation further tarnished.

The United hierarchy is bracing itself for another failed managerial appointment, with three changes in the last year alone – Amorim, Ten Hag, and Ashworth – all of which ended in disappointment. Solskjær would join a list of potential candidates vying for the full-time job, including Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and more.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen if Solskjær's return would be the right move for Manchester United. One thing is certain, however – the consequences of failure would be severe, and the board must carefully consider their next steps to avoid repeating past mistakes.

I don't think the board is thinking this one through 🤔... Ole Solskjær's track record isn't exactly inspiring, you know? 14 unbeaten games was a fluke in my opinion 🙄 and it's not like the team has gotten any better since he left. I mean, 31 points from 19 games is not great, but bringing him back might just be throwing good money after bad 💸. And let's be real, fan morale is at an all-time low right now, so we don't need some old-school manager coming in and trying to win people over with nostalgia 🙅‍♂️. The board needs to think about what's best for the team, not just what's gonna get a quick fix or a spark 🔥. They need to take their time and find someone who can really turn things around 💪.

🤔 I think they're making a huge mistake bringin' back Solskjær. They need someone with more direction, you know? This team's in shambles right now 😩. And yeah, I get that his first stint was all flash and dash, but consistency is key here. If he can't even keep the team on track for 14 games without comin' undone, why would anyone think it'll be different this time around? 🤷‍♂️ They need someone who's gonna sort out the squad, not just wave a magic wand and expect results 💫. And let's be real, if Solskjær comes back and it all goes pear-shaped again, the fans are gonna be FURIOUS 😤.

I'm really worried about this move... like 😬... think they're gonna regret it if Solskjaer comes back. The team's in a mess right now & they need someone who can fix the problems not just paper over them with some magic ✨. History is pretty clear that his time here was all flash, no substance 🤦‍♂️. If he fails again, the fans are gonna be FUMING 🔥... and honestly, I don't blame 'em 😒. The board's gotta think about what's best for the club, not just a quick fix or desperation play 🤑. They need someone who can really make a difference, not just patch up the symptoms 💉.

Wow 🤯, I think bringing back Ole Gunnar Solskjær as interim manager is a huge gamble. The team's current state is not great and they need a more long-term solution. The fact that there have been three changes in the last year already shows that the board is struggling to find the right person. It would be desperate if they bring back someone who has had past failures like Solskjær. They should focus on finding a full-time manager who can sort out the issues rather than just looking for a quick fix. Interesting 🤔

man this would be a huge risk for man u bringing back solskjaer after his first stint was so inconsistent 🤯 they need to sort out the issues with the team rather than just throwing in someone who had a good run years ago 31 points from 19 games is not great 🔥 and their current state of being in fifth place with chelsea shows there's more to it than just a spark needed

I don’t usually comment but... I feel like bringing back Ole Gunnar Solskjær would be a huge gamble 🤔. The club's current state is already pretty dire, with 31 points from 19 games, and it doesn't sound like they've got the right team chemistry to pick up where Ten Hag left off. If he comes back now, I think it'd just prolong the problems rather than fixing them 🔥. Plus, the fact that they're considering him in the first place suggests they might be more desperate for a quick fix than taking the time to find someone who can really make a difference 🤷‍♂️.

I don't think bringing back Ole Gunnar Solskjær as interim manager is a good idea 🤔. I mean, they had huge success with him before, but that was like 6 years ago! And honestly, what's changed since then? They need someone who can figure out what's going on and fix the team's problems, not just bring in some old magic ✨. And to be real, it would look super desperate if they're trying to copy their past success instead of moving forward 💔. The board needs to think about what's best for the club, not just trying to revive a past glory 😊. Maybe someone else should get a shot? 🤷‍♂️

man... ole solskjaer was a great player but he can't even get man ut stable for 6 months lol. they need someone who can fix the team's consistency issues, not just put a band-aid on it. and bringing him back now would be like throwing money at the problem. i'm all for giving the current staff a chance to sort things out but... that'd be a huge gamble 🤔
