Streaming service makes rare decision to lower its monthly fees

FuboTV, a popular live TV streaming service, has made a surprise move by slashing prices for some of its subscription plans. The move comes as the company is facing a black-out of NBCUniversal channels, which are missing from Fubo's lineup since November.

The new prices will be in effect starting with billing cycles on or after January 1, 2026, and include a discount of up to 14.8% for certain plans. The Essential plan, previously priced at $85 per month, will now cost $74, while the Pro plan, which was previously $85, will be reduced to $75. The Elite plan, which used to be $95, will now be available for $84.

Fubo's decision to lower prices is seen as a strategic move aimed at retaining subscribers and gaining an edge over larger streaming services like YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video. The company has been facing criticism from its customers, who have complained about price hikes and the loss of NBCUniversal channels.

According to Fubo, the new prices reflect the cost of NBCUniversal's networks being removed from its lineup. The company has accused NBCUniversal of using bundling tactics to force it to add expensive non-sports channels to its cheaper plans.

Fubo is also seeking permission from NBCUniversal to integrate Peacock into its channel store, which would allow subscribers to access additional content at no extra cost. However, NBCUniversal has denied Fubo's request, stating that they offered the same terms agreed upon by other distributors.

The move may be a tactic for Fubo to pressure NBCUniversal into agreeing to a deal rather than letting the partnership dissolve. Alternatively, it could be a sign that Fubo is willing to compromise on its partnerships in order to offer lower prices and stay competitive in the market.

I'm not surprised they dropped those prices lol πŸ˜‚. It's about time someone shakes things up in the streaming world. I think Fubo's trying to hold NBCUniversal's feet to the fire, but who knows if it'll actually work out? They gotta make some kinda deal or risk losing subscribers left and right πŸ€‘

I gotta say, I'm kinda stoked about this price slash from FuboTV 🀩! They're trying to win back some of those subscribers who were all like "nah, I can get better deals elsewhere" πŸ˜’. And honestly, 14.8% is no joke - that's like a pretty penny off for some plans πŸ’Έ. I mean, NBCUniversal's been getting all mad about Fubo adding their channels to cheaper plans, but I'm all like... come on guys, it's just business πŸ€‘.

I think Fubo's got a good point with this whole bundling thing - if they're gotta pay more for those non-sports channels, why not pass that cost on down the line? And hey, offering Peacock for free in their channel store would be a sick move πŸ‘. Either way, I'm just here for the cheaper prices πŸ€‘...

πŸ€” so Fubo's gonna slash prices cuz they lost some big channels? that's like when my internet provider raises prices but still keeps all the extra features πŸ“±πŸ’Έ i think it's a clever move tho, now they'll be competing with other services on price instead of just having sports channels. but at the same time, if NBCUniversal says no to Fubo's Peacock request, that's not gonna sit well... maybe they'll have to sweeten the deal or risk losing more subscribers 😬

I'm so confused about this whole thing πŸ€”πŸ“Ί - like, one minute Fubo's going all out and charging top dollar for NBC channels, and the next they're slashing prices by like 15% or something? It seems kinda crazy to me... I get that they want to stay competitive with other streaming services, but cutting prices by that much just feels like a gamble πŸ€‘. Are they really hoping NBCUniversal will cave under pressure now that Fubo's offering lower prices? Or is this some sneaky attempt to force them into a deal? And what about the Peacock integration thingy... are we gonna see more streaming services trying to sneak deals past each other soon? πŸ˜‚

ugh i dont get why nbcuniversal cant just chill about the pricing lol fubo's like "hey we can't afford this" and nbcuniversal is all "you gotta pay full price". doesnt sound right to me... but at the same time, 14.8% off? thats still pretty steep. idk man, maybe fubo's just trying to be nice to its customers by offering these discounts

I'm not surprised they're lowering prices πŸ€‘. Like, why wouldn't they? It's not like NBCUniversal is gonna keep giving them free channels forever... πŸ˜’ Their decision to cut ties with Fubo was a pretty shady move if you ask me. I mean, bundling tactics are just another word for "we're gonna squeeze every last penny out of them". And now they're trying to pass the cost on to their customers? Give me a break πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ€” So they're lowering prices because some channels like NBC are no longer included? That's kinda weird, right? I mean, you'd think they'd just be mad about losing those channels instead of trying to sweeten the deal for subscribers. But maybe it's a smart move to keep people from jumping ship to other services? Like YouTube TV or something? πŸ“Ί

πŸ€” So I'm seeing Fubo's new price drop and I gotta say, it's a big move! They're basically giving their customers more bang for their buck 🎯. I think they're trying to hold onto those subscribers who are getting fed up with the price hikes and NBCUniversal drama πŸ˜’. And honestly, can't blame them? Losing channels is super frustrating πŸ’”.

The thing that's got me curious is how far will this pricing drop go? Will Fubo end up offering a 'budget' plan or something? πŸ€‘ They're already trying to get Peacock into their store which is a huge deal for customers. If they can make it happen, they'll be the ultimate streaming package πŸ”“.

Also, I heard rumors that Fubo's not too happy with NBCUniversal's bundling tactics 😀. So this price cut might just be a way to push back and get some better terms πŸ€‘. Either way, one thing's for sure - customers are winners in this situation πŸŽ‰!

I'm not sure if I love or hate this move by FuboTV πŸ€”. On one hand, the price drop for some of their plans is pretty sweet, especially considering they're losing NBCUniversal channels πŸ“Ί. It's like they're trying to make up for it by slashing costs and being all "we're a smaller company, we can do this". But on the other hand, I'm not sure if I trust Fubo's reasoning about NBCUniversal using bundling tactics... sounds kinda fishy 🐟. And what really gets me is that they want to integrate Peacock into their channel store without getting permission from NBCUniversal πŸ˜’. It's like they're trying to strong-arm them into making a deal. Hmm, I'm torn...

I feel like Fubo's got some nerve pricing cuts right before the new year πŸ€‘. Like, who doesn't love starting off with a discount? 🎁 But seriously, I think it's smart business for them to try and retain subscribers. All these streaming services are trying to undercut each other, and NBCUniversal's channels being pulled from Fubo's lineup must be pretty tough for their bottom line πŸ’Έ.

I'm curious about this whole bundling thing, though πŸ€”. If NBCUniversal is really pushing Fubo to add more expensive channels, that's not cool πŸ‘Ž. I hope Fubo sticks to its guns and doesn't get taken advantage of πŸ˜’.

πŸ€” so i'm kinda surprised about fubo's price cut πŸ€‘ like i get it, losing nbcuniversal channels was a big deal for them, but 14.8% discount? that's crazy! 😲 but honestly, i think it's a smart move on their part πŸ’‘ they're trying to keep those subscribers who were already paying top dollar and now they're giving 'em a break πŸ™Œ and let's be real, who doesn't love free money? πŸ€‘

I think this price slash by FuboTV is kinda smart πŸ€”. With NBCUniversal channels missing from their lineup since November, they need to attract customers back or risk losing them. By offering discounts of up to 14.8% on certain plans, they're trying to compete with bigger streaming services like YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video. It's not just about retaining subscribers but also gaining an edge in the market.

But, at the same time, I wonder if this is a long-term strategy or just a desperate move πŸ€‘. If Fubo can integrate Peacock into their channel store without NBCUniversal's permission, that would be a huge win for them. They could offer more content to subscribers and stay competitive. Let's see how it plays out πŸ“Ί

I'm watching how this plays out πŸ€”. I think Fubo's trying to send a message to NBCUniversal - either they're gonna make some concessions or their channels are gone. It's like, they're not going to take it lying down anymore. The discount on the Essential plan is pretty sweet too, that's definitely gonna attract some new subs πŸ€‘. But at the same time, I'm wondering if it's a long-term strategy... will Fubo end up losing money in the short term to try and make some ground with NBCUniversal? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm thinking, Fubo's pricing move feels kinda like a gamble? They're cutting costs by lowering prices, but they're also making less money per user πŸ€‘. I wonder if it'll be enough to keep subscribers or if they'll just go elsewhere for cheaper options πŸ’Έ. And what's up with NBCUniversal trying to squeeze Fubo out of adding more channels? It's like they're holding the service hostage 🚫. If Fubo wants to stay competitive, they need to negotiate better deals with their partners... but at what cost? 😬

OMG yaaas fuboTV just made my day 🀩!! They're offering discounts up to 14.8% for some plans which is literally amazing πŸ’Έ! I'm so down for that Essential plan now πŸ˜†, was $85 a month? no way, $74 is more like it πŸ’ͺ. And the Pro and Elite plans too?? FuboTV is really showing they care about their customers πŸ‘. Hope this means we'll see Peacock on their channel store soon 🀞, would make my streaming game so much better! 😎

πŸ€” I think FuboTV's move is a bit of a double-edged sword, you know? On one hand, slashing prices for some plans might just do the trick to keep customers from jumping ship - especially if people are feeling like they're being gouged by NBCUniversal. But at the same time, it's a pretty drastic change that could potentially hurt Fubo's bottom line in the long run... I mean, what happens when the company has to absorb those costs? And is this just a temporary measure until Fubo comes up with some new strategy for getting back into the NBCUniversal fold? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It's all about navigating the complex web of TV channel negotiations and pricing, you know? The Maximalist is rooting for Fubo, but only time will tell if this move pays off... πŸ’Έ
