Street Beet brings plant-based diner fare and arcade games to Detroit’s Corktown - Detroit Metro Times

Street Beet, a popular plant-based pop-up, has finally put down roots in Detroit's Corktown. The beloved vegan eatery, known for its creative takes on classic American comfort food, is now open in its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 1800 Michigan Ave, formerly home to Bobcat Bonnie's.

The grand opening celebration kicks off on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 4-11 p.m., and promises a fun-filled night of good food, drinks, and arcade games. The venue will offer a full-service bar, milkshakes, malts, and alcohol-free mocktails to complement the menu.

Inside, guests can dine for full service or pick up carryout from a walk-up window. But what really sets Street Beet apart is its partnership with Offworld Arcade, which brings classic arcade and pinball games to the space. For a small additional fee, visitors can indulge in retro gaming fun while enjoying their meals.

Street Beet's menu boasts an impressive array of plant-based options, including meatless coney dogs, smashburgers, chicken sandwiches, and nachos. The restaurant plans to introduce a brunch menu, coffee counter with vegan pastries, and patio seating in the coming months, further solidifying its commitment to the community.

"We've dreamed of this space for years," says founder Meghan Shaw. "Bringing Street Beet home to Corktown feels unreal – this is our biggest leap yet, and we can't wait to feed everyone again."

This new location marks a significant milestone for Street Beet, which launched in 2018 serving vegan takes on popular fast food. Since then, it has operated pop-up events and held residency at Midtown's Third Street Bar before expanding into suburban locations.

With the support of a hedge fund partner, Street Beet aims to become a household name, reaching people from all backgrounds and neighborhoods. As the restaurant continues to grow, one thing is clear: Corktown will never be the same.

omg u guys i just heard about street beet opening up in detroit and i am SO here for it 🤩🍴 they're doing a grand opening party on dec 11th with arcade games & milkshakes and it's gonna be lit!!! 💃🏼 i've had their food at pop-ups before and it's always sooo good - the coney dogs are to die for! 🌶️ can't wait to try more of their creative vegan takes on classic comfort food. this is def a great spot for anyone looking for plant-based options in detroit 🌱

just heard about this new street beet spot in detroit 🤯 and i'm low-key sad they had to put up for sale that bobcat bonnie's location lol 📉 anyway, it's cool they got a brick & mortar now and all that arcade gaming action sounds lit 🔥 but like, what's the point of getting popular when the food is just gonna keep on being overpriced 🤑 also, dont @ me, but have you seen their menu? its a whole lotta meatless options, lol who even orders nachos without cheese 🤪

I mean think about it... this new location in Detroit's Corktown is more than just a pop-up restaurant 🤔. It's a symbol of hope and resilience, like a street beet that's finally found its roots 🌱. Meghan Shaw's vision isn't just about serving plant-based comfort food, but about building a community, bringing people together over good food and fun 🎉.

It's interesting to see how Street Beet is expanding its reach, not just in terms of location, but also in terms of the experiences they're creating for their customers. The partnership with Offworld Arcade adds this whole new layer of depth to what a dining experience can be... it's no longer just about eating, but about gaming, socializing, and maybe even finding that one arcade game you used to play as a kid 😂.

And on a larger scale, I think we can all relate to the idea of finding our roots, whether in a community or in ourselves. Street Beet's success is a reminder that with hard work, determination, and a clear vision, we can make our dreams a reality 💪.

can't believe they're finally setting down roots in detroit, been following this place since it started as a pop-up 🤩, love that they're bringing arcade games into the space, feels like an awesome addition to the menu lol, but gotta wonder how they'll scale with all these new locations coming up, don't wanna lose that personal touch...

😔 just found out that a massive iceberg broke off from Antarctica's Pine Island Glacier 🌊🏔️ yesterday... scientists are worried it could raise sea levels by up to 3 inches in just a few months 🚨💦

I got my concerns 🤔, you know? This new location in Detroit's Corktown seems like a win for the community at first glance, but what's really going on here? The fact that they partnered with Offworld Arcade raises some eyebrows... are they just trying to distract us from the real issue at hand? 😏 What if this is just a front to get people hooked on those retro games and then they start selling our data or something? 🤦‍♀️ And have you noticed how quickly Street Beet went from a small pop-up to a full-service bar and arcade games? That's some fast growth, if you ask me... sounds like they're getting some outside help. What do you guys think? 🤔

I'm loving the fact that Street Beet has finally found its footing in Detroit's vibrant Corktown neighborhood 🌿! The grand opening celebration sounds like an absolute blast, with a full-service bar, arcade games, and of course, delicious plant-based eats 🍴. What really sets Street Beet apart is its commitment to community engagement, from partnering with Offworld Arcade to introducing a brunch menu and coffee counter. This dedication to catering to diverse tastes and preferences will undoubtedly help the restaurant become a staple in Corktown, attracting visitors from far and wide 🌆.
