Study finds slightly higher risk of autism diagnosis in areas with more lithium in drinking water, but experts say more research is needed | CNN

OMG 😱 I'm kinda freaking out over here... like, what even is going on with our water supply? 🤯 Lithium levels in tap water linked to autism diagnoses? That's wild 🌪️. I mean, I know we've been hearing about the health benefits of lithium for a while now, but this takes it to a whole new level 😲. Can you imagine sipping on a glass of water and inadvertently exposing your unborn child to something that could potentially cause autism? 🤷‍♀️ It's like, how do we even know what's safe anymore? 🤔

I'm all for further research, don't get me wrong 💡. But at the same time, I think it's crazy that our government hasn't been on top of this sooner 🙄. Like, shouldn't they be monitoring our water supply for toxins and stuff? 🚽 It's not like we're just gonna sit around and wait for the science to catch up 💪.

Anyway, back to the study... I'm curious to see how they plan on replicating these findings in other countries 🌎. And what about those potential mechanisms by which lithium exposure might contribute to ASD development? 🤔 Are they even sure that's the case yet? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 So like I was reading about this new study that says there's a link between lithium in tap water and autism diagnosis... I'm not saying it's definitely true, but 24-46% higher risk is pretty wild. 🚨 And what's crazy is that experts are like "we need more research" because of how hard it is to figure out causality with environmental factors. It's like, we know some stuff can be bad for us, but proving it's not just correlation? 🔬 That Rainbow Autism Center doc, Dr Wiznitzer, makes a good point about not knowing the biological mechanisms... 🤯 Still, I gotta wonder if we're being too slow to investigate this. 😬

🌟 I think its cool that researchers are looking into what can cause autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study about lithium in tap water is giving me hope that we might be able to learn more about what triggers it. And you know what's crazy? The fact that there are potential health benefits from having some lithium in our water, like reduced rates of psychiatric hospitalization and suicide. It just goes to show that everything has a silver lining, right? We should definitely be looking into this further to make sure we're protecting everyone's health 🙏💡
