Taylor Momsen Brings Rock Edge to Beloved Holiday Classic "Where Are You Christmas?" in Reimagined Version.
The Pretty Reckless frontwoman has re-recorded the beloved holiday ballad, originally performed by herself as Cindy Lou Who in 2000's 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', with a rock twist. The new version is part of Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas EP, released on October 31 via Fearless Records.
Momsen’s reimagined "Where Are You Christmas?" opens with a nostalgic snippet of her childhood recording before launching into a full-blown rock version, anchored by crunchy guitars and her signature gritty vocals. The updated ballad gives the wistful lyrics new energy and edge.
The six-track EP also includes four original songs: "I Wanna Be Your Christmas Tree," "Christmas Is Killing Me," "Blues on Christmas," and "When We Were Young." The reprise, titled "Christmas, Why Can't I Find You," rounds out the collection.
For Momsen, the project started as a single song but took on a life of its own in the studio. She stated that she needed to build a whole world around it, resulting in a full body of work that's bigger and deeper than she initially expected.
This marks the latest release from The Pretty Reckless, who made history in 2021 by becoming the first female-fronted band to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart with their first four albums.
