a 14-year-old's life is literally turned upside down because someone was too reckless behind the wheel...i'm glad the driver stayed calm and cooperated but still can't imagine being in that kid's shoes right now 
and yeah, it's all about road safety now - we need to keep our eyes peeled for vulnerable cyclists and pedestrians, esp at night or during rush hour 
... it's up to us as drivers to be more aware of our surroundings and look out for each other on the road. We don't know what's going through someone's mind when they're speeding down a highway, but it's clear that this driver was way off base
