What's your most cringe-worthy Secret Santa story?

I had one friend who got a "gift" from her coworker, which was literally a rubber chicken 🐓... like, not even wrapped or anything. She just put it on her desk and walked away, expecting someone to pick it up afterwards. Needless to say, she wasn't exactly thrilled with the gift when her partner picked it up for her 😂. I'm still surprised she didn't give him a piece of her mind! And what's even funnier is that they both ended up laughing about it after, but only because their other coworkers thought it was hilarious and started teasing them mercilessly... so yeah, it was definitely a cringe-worthy moment 😂

I had this one time with my coworker from 2 years ago... 🤦‍♂️ I was trying to be funny, but it backfired so hard. I got her a "World's Okayest Employee" mug and thought it was hilarious, but she just laughed awkwardly the whole morning. Later that day, I saw a photo of us on the company Slack channel, and she had written "Thanks for the laugh... NOT" in the comments 🙈 It still makes me cringe to this day. And honestly, I was kinda scared to get her one again after that 😅

Ugh 😂 I had this one friend who was super bad at wrapping gifts, like she'd just slap a random piece of paper on it and call it a day... we were all stuck with these ridiculous presents that looked like they belonged in a thrift store 🤣 And yeah, trying to come up with something thoughtful within a budget is always a nightmare! I once got this super cheesy candle holder that was literally meant for grandma's house 🎄 How do people even get through the holiday season without losing their minds? 😂

Ugh, I'm dreading doing this - last year I got stuck with my coworker who thinks they're a stand-up comedian and decided to give me a "joke" gift... it was literally a tacky mug that said "World's Okayest Employee" on it 🤢. I mean, what even is the thought process behind that? And of course, when I opened it at the party, they proceeded to tell this long story about why they chose that particular font and design, completely missing the awkward silence that followed 😂.

🤦‍♂️ omg i had this one friend who insisted on buying me a "funny" keychain that looked like a rubber chicken 🐓😂 turns out it was literally just a sad plastic figurine with a coat of paint slapped on it...anyway, my friend thought it was hilarious and kept showing it to everyone we hung out with, and i'm pretty sure the actual birthday person is still traumatized 😂

I had a bad one last year 😳 I was tasked with getting a gift for my coworker who loves coffee, but I totally spaced and got her a tacky mug from a discount store 🤦‍♀️. She looked at it like it was the worst thing she'd ever seen and just politely took it, which made me feel super awkward 😳.

ugh i had a major fail last year when i got stuck with my coworker who literally has no sense of humor lol she asked for cash and i was like "oh cool" and ended up getting her a $20 bill wrapped in a bunch of tissues. the worst part is she still thinks it's funny

omg i had this one friend who was super cheap and just got her name from a random person, she ended up getting like this tacky sweater with a giant pom-pom on it 🧶😂 and we all thought it was gonna be hilarious but when she showed it to the group... crickets. no one said anything, they were all just too polite. poor thing was mortified lol

I had this one time with my colleague from 3 years ago 🤦‍♀️... we were all doing this office Secret Santa and I totally spaced out on getting her a gift under $10. So, I end up showing up to her desk with like, the cheapest candle ever made - literally it was just a votive candle that you can buy at Walmart for like 1 dollar 🕯️... I mean I thought she would find it funny or something, but nope! She basically just laughed awkwardly and thanked me, then quickly hid the thing behind her computer monitor 😂... I'm still cringing thinking about it.

Ugh, I had this one time where I got paired with my coworker and we agreed on a price limit. I thought I was being all sneaky and creative, but I ended up getting her a tacky mug that looks like it belongs in a garage sale. I mean, I was trying to be funny, but honestly, the look on her face when she opened it was priceless – like, "what do you even do with this thing?"😂🎁. And to make matters worse, our whole office was laughing at her reaction, so I guess you could say I inadvertently became the office meme of the year 🤣💀. I learned my lesson that year: if you're gonna get someone a weird gift, just own it and have a good laugh about it 💁‍♀️🎉.

I had this one friend who insisted on giving a "gift" that was literally just a used tissue with a funny note attached to it 🤣🎁. Sounds harmless, right? Wrong! The poor guy was mortified when he opened it and immediately spat out the tissue thinking it was some kind of prank. I mean, even now thinking about it makes me laugh but also kinda cringe 😂💀. I guess you could say it was a "gift" that kept on giving... awkwardness 🎁😳.

omg i had a sec santa fail last year like i tried to make this super thoughtful gift for my coworker but ended up getting her a set of novelty cat socks 🐈😂. yeah i know they sound annoying but hear me out... she was going through a tough breakup and i thought those silly socks would bring some much needed laughter into her life but instead she just laughed it off in front of everyone and said "well, that's one way to get over a guy"... still cringe to this day

omg i had a major fail last year 🤦‍♀️ my bestie and me were doing secret santa for work and she got this tacky mug with a cartoon character on it 🎨 like it was literally the worst thing ever we both died laughing when we showed it to her and now she's still giving me the side eye whenever i walk into our office 😂

Ugh, I had one time where my colleague accidentally sent me a super tacky mug with a cheesy saying on it... and it was way above our budget 🤦‍♀️! The worst part was when he realized the mistake and tried to "improve" it by adding some glitter glue - yeah, that just made it worse 😂. I had to politely tell him it was actually an improvement (no lie, that's how cringeworthy it looked) and we both ended up having a good laugh about it 🤣. The takeaway? Communication is key in Secret Santa! 📝

omg i had this one time i was assigned a coworker and i thought it would be funny to get them a silly mug with a cartoon character on it 🤣 but then they took one look at it and burst out laughing... like literally crying tears of laughter 😂. i was so embarrassed, but also kinda relieved that my prank wasn't as funny as i thought it was. another time i got someone an "experiences" gift certificate to a weird taxidermy museum 🤪 and they were just really polite about it but you could tell they didn't want to spend the day looking at stuffed animals... anyway, let's hear from u guys!

omg u guys i had the worst secret santa fail ever last year 🤦‍♀️ my friend and i drew numbers for our group gift and i ended up getting stuck with someone who has super sensitive skin and i gave her a scented candle lol like i didnt think about how bad that would be for her allergies 😂 and then she had the nerve to say it was "so thoughtful" like um no its literally going to make your eyes water 🤣 anyway dont even get me started on when my brother tried to give his sister a whoopee cushion as a gift haha good times

omg I feel you!! i had a super awkward experience with my secret santa last year when i ended up getting a tacky mug that was literally identical to one my aunt got me for my birthday like 5 years ago 😂😳 i tried to play it cool but inside i was dying laughing thinking "is this really who i'm stuck with?" 🤣 did u ever have a moment where you were like " Wait, is THIS the gift???!"?! 🎁😲
