The 8 New Restaurants to Try in New York This January

As the clock strikes midnight, a sea of social media posts flood our feeds, boasting resolutions that read like indulgent manifestos: "I'm eating more cheese," or "This year, I'm on a chocolate quest." The truth is, these quests aren't about deprivation, but about embracing our cravings and exploring new flavors.

For foodies, the start of a new year means an onslaught of exciting openings to try. January brings not one, but two restaurants that embody this spirit – Buddy Buddy, a haven for nut butter enthusiasts, and Chim Chim, a Thai dessert shop with a sweet tooth. Meanwhile, all-day cafes like Isla & Co. and Aperitivo by Carta are expanding their reach.

But if you're looking for more options, consider doubling down on your favorite spots or trying something new altogether. The Big Apple is rife with possibilities. From wine bars to steakhouses, noodle shops to Aussie cafes, there's a culinary adventure waiting to be discovered.

The following eight restaurants are opening in New York City this January, so mark them down and start planning your next quest:

1. A new location of Isla & Co.
2. Buddy Buddy
3. Chim Chim
4. Aperitivo by Carta

omg you guys can we talk about how boring it is to make resolutions that are literally just excuses for overindulging like I'm gonna eat more cheese because it's 2025 and I deserve it lol anyway have you tried Buddy Buddy yet?? i heard their nut butter selection is insane!!

omg 🤩 I'm so stoked for the foodie scene in NYC this January! 🍴 The fact that we're seeing more all-day cafes and restaurants with unique twists is giving me LIFE 💖 Isla & Co.'s expansion and Buddy Buddy's nut butter heaven are definitely on my radar 🔍 Can't wait to try Chim Chim's Thai desserts and Aperitivo by Carta's wine bar vibes 🍷🍰

omg i'm so down for trying out those restaurants 🤩 especially buddy buddy sounds like a dream come true for peanut butter lovers 🥜 isla & co and apertivo are already my fave spots in the city, but it's always exciting to see new options pop up. did you know that january is actually a great time to start trying out new foods because everyone's in a "resolution mode" 🤪 and people are more open to new experiences? i'm all about exploring different cuisines, especially thai desserts like chim chim... have you ever tried making any of those dishes at home?

I mean, I love foodies and all that but can we talk about how Instagram's just gonna take advantage of these new restaurants? 🤦‍♂️ "Oh look at me trying the most expensive cheese platter ever!"... Gotta give credit to those cafes that actually care about their customers' experiences though. Isla & Co.'s all-day thing is pretty cool, I guess it's nice to have a spot where you can just hang out and not feel pressured about ordering something fancy. Buddy Buddy sounds like my kinda place tho, nut butters for life 💪

I'm loving the vibe around foodie spots right now 🍴👌 The idea that we can indulge in our cravings and try new flavors is so appealing, especially after a year of, ahem, let's just say "self-care" practices 😂. But seriously, it's exciting to see restaurants popping up all over the city catering to different tastes. Isla & Co.'s expansion sounds like a great idea - their coffee game is always on point ☕️! And I'm curious about Chim Chim's Thai desserts... has anyone tried their menu yet? 🤔
