The Ashes 2025: day two - Australia's Mitchell Starc takes diving catch to dismiss England's Zak Crawley

In a bizarre turn of events, Australia's Mitchell Starc has taken a diving catch off his own bowling to dismiss England's Zak Crawley for a duck in the first over again on day two of the highly anticipated Ashes Test in Perth.

The stunning turn of fortunes is a familiar story for both players, as it marks Crawley's second duck in this series. The Englishman has been struggling at the crease, and Starc's quick reflexes have finally paid off.

The Australian bowler's brilliance was on full display as he fielded a shot from Crawley that seemed destined to be a boundary. Instead, Starc leapt into the air, stretching out his glove-hand to snag the catch and send the ball flying back to the wicketkeeper. The crowd at the WACA Ground erupted in cheers as Starc celebrated his stunning feat.

The fall of Crawley has given Australia some much-needed momentum on day two, as they look to build a strong total ahead of England's second innings. The Aussies will be delighted by Starc's display, which highlights their team's ability to adapt and respond under pressure.

As the series hangs in the balance, every run counts, and Starc's incredible catch has sent a shot of hope through the Australian camp. Will they be able to capitalize on this momentum, or will England manage to claw back? The battle for supremacy in the Ashes continues to unfold at breakneck pace.

I gotta give it up for Mitch Starc! 😂 that diving catch was straight fire! I mean, Crawley's been struggling all series and Starc is like "nah, I got this" 🤦‍♂️. It's not the first time he's done something crazy on the field and I think it shows his confidence and skill as a cricketer. Australia's definitely in a good spot now and with their momentum building, they're gonna be tough for England to take back. Can't wait to see how this series plays out 🤔

I'm lovin' the drama that's unfolding at the WACA Ground 😂! Mitchell Starc just showed us what it means to be a true sports hero - lightning-quick reflexes and an instinctive glove-hand are EVERYTHING! The crowd must've gone wild, and I'm pretty sure the Aussie team is dancing with joy 🕺. It's all about bounces back from tough starts now, and I love how Starc and Co. are seizing every chance to get back on track 💪. Can't wait to see what the rest of this Ashes series has in store for us - bring it on! ⚾

omg what a game changer that diving catch by starc 🤯! i mean australia's been struggling but starc's reflexes are insane. and crawley's been having a tough time anyway, so this isn't exactly shocking. but still, it's nice to see the aussies getting some momentum going. the question is though, can they keep this up? will england find a way to claw back or will australia build on this? one thing for sure, starc's gonna be the hero of this series 😂. btw, i'm not sold on the aussies yet, they've still got some big questions to answer...

OMG, what a save by Mitch Starc!!! 🤯 That catch was INSANE! I'm literally shaking my head just thinking about it 😂. Crawley's gotta be so frustrated right now, but at least he got out on his own terms. The Aussie team is gonna love this one, it's like they're saying "game on" to England 🎾. Australia needs a big total to stay in this series and Starc just gave 'em the boost they needed 💥. This Ashes series is getting more intense by the minute and I'm SO here for it 😅

Another batsman gets out for 0... Zak Crawley's got some serious bad luck going on 😂🤦‍♂️. It's like Australia's just sitting back, waiting for these English guys to make silly mistakes and then swoop in with a catch 🕸️. Starc was always gonna be a thorn in Crawley's side, I reckon he's just been waiting for the perfect moment to pounce 💪🏽. The Aussies seem like they're getting their mojo back now... but can they keep it up? ⚠️

omg what an amazing catch!!! 😍 i was literally watching that and my jaw dropped like 5 times! starc's reflexes are insane 💥 and it's just so cool to see him come out on top after crawley got the worst of him twice already 🤣 australia needs all the momentum they can get right now, so hopefully this is a turning point for them 🤞 the english team is gonna have to pull their socks up if they wanna compete with the aussies 😅
