Trump pardons Florida fraudster after commuting her sentence during his first term

President Donald Trump has seen fit to grant clemency to a Florida woman who was convicted twice for running a fake 5-Hour Energy drink scheme, just months into his second term in office.

Adriana Camberos had already been given a lenient sentence by Trump ahead of his first presidency coming to an end in 2021. She and several co-conspirators had attached counterfeit labels to the bottles and filled them with a phony liquid before selling them at inflated prices, in an effort to avoid paying taxes on the items.

However, just two years later, Camberos was convicted again, this time alongside her brother Andres for lying to manufacturers about selling discounted groceries and other goods. The siblings were found to be pocketing the savings and reselling the products at higher prices to US distributors.

The Camberoses' case is not an isolated one - Trump has announced several clemencies during his second term, many of which have targeted cases once considered strong by federal prosecutors. This trend comes as part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to erode certain integrity guardrails and limit public accountability.

In total, 13 individuals received pardons on Thursday, while eight others had their sentences commuted. Other notable recipients include Terren Peizer, who was granted clemency after serving 42 months in prison for insider trading, and Wanda VΓ‘zquez, the former governor of Puerto Rico who pleaded guilty to a campaign finance violation.

The decision to pardon Camberos has raised questions about Trump's priorities and the limits of executive power. With several high-profile cases still pending review by his administration, it remains to be seen whether this trend will continue or if public pressure will force him to revisit some of these decisions.

πŸ€” another one bites the dust - clemency for fake 5-Hour Energy scams? I'm not buying it 🍺. How many more people does Trump need to pardon before we start questioning his judgment? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And what's with all these lenient sentences? Are we living in a world where crime pays off? 😬 I mean, Camberos was caught twice and still got a slap on the wrist. It's like he's trying to show us that money talks more than the law does πŸ’Έ.

I'm totally puzzled by this decision πŸ€”. I mean, Adriana Camberos is lucky she got clemency after serving two prison terms for running a fake energy drink scheme and scamming people out of their cash. And now her brother Andres is in trouble too? It just doesn't seem fair to me 😐. What's Trump trying to say with these pardons? That everyone deserves a second chance, no matter how shady they were? I'm not buying it πŸ™„. The public has a right to know what's going on behind closed doors, and clemencies like this are just another example of the lack of accountability in this administration πŸ‘Ž.

I'm like totally shocked that Trump is giving clemency to Adriana Camberos again 🀯. I mean, two convictions isn't exactly a slap on the wrist, you know? It's like she's getting a second chance after already getting a pretty lenient sentence from him in 2021. And now he's doing it again just months into his second term? That's some crazy stuff, dude πŸ€”. I'm worried about what this says about his priorities and how far he's willing to go with his pardons. It's like, does he think everyone deserves a second chance if they've already gotten one from him? I don't get it πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. And with all these high-profile cases still pending review, it's like Trump is just making a mess of things without even thinking about the consequences πŸ’”.

OMG, I'm so curious to know what's going through Trump's mind right now πŸ€”πŸ’‘. I mean, who would've thought that someone who ran a fake energy drink scheme (and was caught TWICE!) would get clemency? It's like, two strikes and you're out... or not, in this case πŸ˜‚. But for real, it raises some major questions about accountability and the power of the presidency. I'm all about giving people second chances, but this feels like a big deal 🀯. Was she really that sorry to have sold those fake energy drinks? Or was it just a clever scheme to get ahead? πŸ€‘ Either way, it's definitely got me thinking... what do you guys think?!

Come on... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ clemency for a scam artist? Like, what's next? Granting pardons to CEOs who cooked the books and got off scot-free? It just doesn't sit right with me that Trump is using his powers to shield folks like Adriana Camberos from accountability. I mean, yeah, she's done her time, but that doesn't erase the fact that she hurt people by selling fake energy drinks and ripping off US distributors. It feels like he's more interested in playing politics than doing what's right... πŸ˜’

πŸ€” I'm not sure what's more surprising, that Trump is granting clemency to someone who was just convicted for running a fake energy drink scheme... or that he did it TWICE! πŸ’Έ Like, come on, dude, how many chances do you give these people? It's like he's trying to make an example out of the US tax system. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And what's with this trend of eroding integrity guardrails and limiting public accountability? It feels like he's more concerned with helping his buddies than making sure justice is served. 🚫 The Camberoses' case is just another symptom of a bigger problem - the lack of transparency and oversight in Trump's administration is alarming, to say the least 😬. Can't wait to see how this plays out and if public pressure forces him to reconsider some of these decisions πŸ’ͺ

I don't get why Trump is giving out so many pardons now πŸ€”. This Camberos girl was really naughty, running a fake energy drink scheme and lying about discounted groceries? She got off with just two convictions already! It's like he's trying to make examples of people who've broken the law but didn't commit any major crimes... what's next? Giving pardons to everyone who's ever gotten into a little trouble πŸ€‘. And what's with all these clemencies coming out at once? Is he trying to show off or something? It just seems like a way for him to line his own pockets and avoid accountability πŸ’Έ. I'm not saying the guy deserves hate, but come on...

πŸ€” This is getting crazy 🚨. I mean, clemency for a fake energy drink scheme and grocery scams? πŸ˜’ What's next? A pardon for those who broke the law on purpose? πŸ€‘ It just doesn't seem right πŸ’”. President Trump seems to be prioritizing his friends over justice βš–οΈ. Is this what he means by "draining the swamp"? 🐜 I'm not convinced πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I hope there's accountability somewhere in all of this πŸ”.

omg I'm so not buying this πŸ™„... a 5-Hour Energy drink scheme? come on! that's like, not even a real thing anymore πŸ˜‚ and now she gets clemency? what about all the other people who got scammed by her stuff? doesn't seem fair to me πŸ€”

and have you seen the list of people Trump just pardoned? it's like he's giving away free passes to anyone who's connected to him πŸ’Έ... I don't get it, is this some kind of payback system? πŸ˜’

I'm all for second chances and all that, but when it comes down to it, you gotta earn your way outta trouble 🚫... and these people didn't exactly do anything impressive on their time in prison πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the public puts up with this or not πŸ‘€

πŸ€” I'm not sure what's going on with Trump's clemency decisions... like, two times for the same person? πŸ™„ Adriana Camberos' fake 5-Hour Energy scheme was already kinda laughable. And now she gets a second chance? πŸ’Έ It's all about the optics, right? He's trying to show that he's still got it going on, even if the cases are sketchy at best. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, what's next? Pardoning everyone with connections to his personal empire? πŸ˜’ I just hope there aren't a lot of people taking advantage of this... it feels like a slippery slope πŸ“‰

πŸ€” I'm not sure what's going on with Trump's clemency decisions, but it seems like he's showing favoritism towards people who have messed up big time. I mean, Camberos was convicted TWICE for the same kind of scheme, and now she gets a slap on the wrist? It's just not fair to others who are still serving their time or waiting for their cases to be reviewed.

I'm also worried about the trend of eroding integrity guardrails and limiting public accountability. If Trump can just grant clemency to people with questionable pasts, what's stopping him from doing it to others? It sets a bad precedent and undermines trust in the system.

I'm curious to see how this plays out and whether public pressure will force him to revisit some of these decisions. I hope so, because right now, it feels like justice is being ignored in favor of politics πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

omg 😱 can't believe trump is giving clemency to people who got caught red-handed! Adriana Camberos was running a fake energy drink scheme and lying about discounted groceries? that's some serious stuff πŸ€‘ but i guess 42 months in prison isn't enough for terren peizer or wanda vazquez πŸ€” meanwhile, the fact that trump is eroding integrity guardrails and limiting public accountability really gets my goat πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ we need more transparency not less! πŸ’‘

πŸ€” what's going on with this woman Adriana Camberos? Two times convicted and now she gets clemency from Trump? πŸ€‘ It seems like the system is broken, folks! You'd think that someone who's been caught twice would get a longer sentence, not less. I mean, I'm no expert, but it looks like Trump's trying to make a point by showing mercy to those in need of it... or maybe he's just doing it for personal gain πŸ€‘? Either way, it raises some serious questions about the limits of executive power and what we can expect from his second term. The fact that 13 people received pardons on Thursday is crazy talk! 😲 Can't say I'm surprised though - this administration has been all about eroding integrity guardrails and limiting public accountability... but still, clemency for a fake energy drink scheme? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I'm genuinely confused about Trump's clemency decisions lately... like, how many times can you mess up the system and get away with it? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ This woman, Adriana Camberos, was already given a slap on the wrist last time around and now she gets another pass. It's like he's trying to set a new record for most people who can scam their way out of trouble 😳. And what about all these others who are getting clemency? Is this some kind of 'I'm sorry, guys' thing? πŸ™„ Anyway, only time (and public pressure) will tell if Trump's antics continue to get a free pass πŸ’Έ https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/us/politics/donald-trump-clemency-granted-adriana-camberos.html

πŸ€” what's next for the country? Trump's second term is getting wilder by the minute... granted clemency to fake energy drink sellers and now others are getting a free pass too πŸ€‘. Is this part of some larger plan to undermine accountability? We'll have to wait and see how long people can keep pushing back before something changes πŸ’Έ
