Trump rejects new Venezuela election until US can "rebuild the oil"

US President Donald Trump has signaled that Venezuela is not yet ready for free and fair elections, citing the country's deteriorating state as a major obstacle. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that the US must "rebuild" Venezuela before it can hold such polls.

Trump believes the country's collapse into chaos renders it incapable of conducting elections fairly. He went so far as to say that Venezuela's current state would not even know how to organize an election, likening it to a Third World nation in disarray.

As part of his efforts to exert control over the oil-rich nation, Trump announced plans to meet with top oil executives on Friday to discuss investment and rebuilding strategies. According to Trump, US companies are expected to inject at least $100 billion into Venezuela's oil infrastructure.

Trump made it clear that his administration will be taking a leading role in rebuilding Venezuela's oil industry, stating that they will "be in charge" of the process. He expressed confidence that this effort would yield significant profits and pave the way for future elections.

The President also revealed plans to meet with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. However, Trump expressed doubt about her ability to secure widespread support and ultimately lead the country.

With Vice President Delcy Rodriguez serving as acting president since Maduro's capture, Trump's actions have left Venezuela in a state of uncertainty. It remains to be seen whether his efforts will ultimately lead to free and fair elections or exacerbate the nation's ongoing crisis.

Ugh, this is so messed up 😡. Trump thinks he can just swoop in and "rebuild" Venezuela like it's some kind of game? Newsflash, dude: you can't just fix a country by throwing money at it and expecting everything to be okay. It's not that simple. And what's with the whole "they wouldn't know how to organize an election" thing? That's super condescending and dismissive of the Venezuelan people.

And I'm so tired of Trump's ego-tripping about being in charge. Like, no one asked you to be in charge of Venezuela, dude. This is a sovereign nation that needs its own leaders and its own solutions, not some billionaire businessman with a Twitter account telling them what to do.

I also don't get why he's still trying to exert control over the oil industry after all this time. Can't he just leave Venezuela alone? The fact that he thinks he can inject $100 billion into the country without consulting anyone else is just laughable. This whole thing is a huge power grab, and I'm not buying it 🤬

I'm not sure if Trump's plan is gonna help or make things worse for Venezuela 🤔... They need some real change, but at least he's talking to Machado, that's a good start 💬. I mean, $100 billion to rebuild the oil industry? That sounds like a lot of money to me 💸... What if it just gets sucked up by the same old corrupt people in power? 🤷‍♂️ Trump saying they'll be "in charge" of the process is weird too... Like, who exactly is he gonna put in charge? Maduro's still acting president or something? 🤯 And what about the people? They're the ones who really need help and support here 👥. I don't know, man, this whole thing just feels like a lot of hot air to me 😒...

Ugh man, can't believe trump is trying to insert himself into Venezuela's mess again 🤯. like what even makes him think he knows more about rebuilding the country than the actual people who live there? newsflash trump: your idea of "rebuilding" just means making a profit off their resources 🤑.

and what's up with his plan to hand-pick oil executives and dictate how much money goes where? sounds like a recipe for corruption 💸. I'm all for helping Venezuela get back on its feet, but we need real experts and not some clueless billionaire trying to make a buck.

and have you seen the way he's treating opposition leader Machado? like, what even is this guy's problem with her? 🤔. it's just more proof that trump doesn't care about actually helping Venezuela, he just wants to exert his influence and control 💪.

omg trump is at it again 🤯 like seriously he thinks we need him to rebuild venezuela before they can even have an election lol what kinda "rebuilding" strategy does that even sound like 🤑 $100 billion just for oil infrastructure is crazy 💸 and has he forgotten about the fact that venezuela already has a functioning government with delcy rodriguez as acting president? 🤷‍♀️ and meeting with machado doesn't even seem to be about supporting her as leader but more about using her as some kinda puppet 🕵️‍♂️ i'm not buying it, trump's just trying to exert control over the country and its resources 💪

I'm so worried about what's happening in Venezuela 🤕. As a parent, it breaks my heart to think that innocent kids are suffering because of the political instability. Trump saying that Venezuela isn't ready for free and fair elections just makes me want to shake my head. Like, how can we not have an election when people are dying every day?

And I'm so frustrated with Trump's plans to meet with oil executives without even talking to the Venezuelan people 🤔. Doesn't he know that this is a country that needs democracy and freedom? Not just a bunch of rich guys making money off their resources.

I also don't understand why Trump is being so condescending towards Maria Corina Machado 👎. Just because she won the Nobel Peace Prize doesn't mean she's going to magically fix everything. We need to listen to her, support her, and work together with the Venezuelan people to build a better future for everyone.

It's like, can't we just try to help instead of trying to control? 💔

I'm getting so frustrated with this news... 🤯 The guy is essentially saying that only when Venezuela "rebuilds" its oil industry (i.e. under US control) can we even think about holding free elections? Like, what kind of democracy is that?! And $100 billion for rebuilding just to further his own agenda? No way... I think the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was right to win that Nobel Peace Prize in 2025... 💪

🤔 I'm worried about this, America is supposed to be an example of democracy not trying to impose their will on other countries 🌎 Trump's approach seems like a classic case of interference which might only make things worse in Venezuela 💔 The country needs help but it should come from within, and also from organizations that specialize in international aid 🚧

I dont think its cool that Trump is trying to decide for everyone what's best for Venezuela... like he knows better than them? 🤷‍♂️ He thinks they need to "rebuild" before they can have free and fair elections, but what if the problem isn't the country itself, but the people in power? shouldn't they be able to figure that out themselves? 🤔 And $100 billion is a lot of money... do we really think it'll just magically fix everything? 💸

Ugh, this is just what I needed, another expert on democracy who thinks he can fix Venezuela with a magic wand 🙄. Trump's 'rebuilding' plan sounds suspiciously like a way to exploit Venezuela's resources for US gain. And let's be real, the guy has been saying some pretty outlandish things about elections and governance in the past... I'm not sure I trust his assessment of Venezuela's readiness for free and fair polls 🤔.

I mean, come on, $100 billion investment and Trump thinks he can just waltz in and save the day? It sounds like a classic case of 'good guys' vs. 'bad guys' narrative, where the US is always the hero, and Venezuela's problems are just a result of poor leadership (ahem, Maduro). Give me a break 🙄.

It's interesting that he wants to meet with Maria Corina Machado, though - maybe she can school him on what real democracy looks like. And I'm low-key excited to see how this all plays out... because, let's be real, it's not like Trump has a track record of getting things right 😂.

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say this is some crazy stuff 🤯. Like, how can you just decide that a country isn't ready for free and fair elections? What about the people who are already suffering over there? Don’t they deserve to have their voices heard? And now he's trying to take control of the oil industry too... like, that's not even what the Nobel Peace Prize is for 🤷‍♂️. I don’t know if Trump really thinks his way is going to make things better or just more profitable for US companies 💸. It feels like a power play to me 🚧.
