US tariffs on Swiss goods cut to 15% in deal struck with Trump administration

US and Swiss officials have reached a breakthrough deal, striking a new trade pact that slashes tariffs from 39% to 15%, a significant reduction that will ease economic tensions between the two nations.

The agreement was announced after intense lobbying by Swiss firms and bilateral talks in Washington, marking a major concession by the Trump administration. According to US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, both sides have "essentially reached a deal", bringing tariffs on Switzerland in line with those imposed on neighboring European Union countries.

In exchange for reduced US tariffs, Switzerland will lower its own duties on a range of US products, including industrial goods, fish and seafood, as well as non-sensitive agricultural items. Additionally, Swiss officials committed to granting duty-free access to key US exports such as beef, bison meat, and poultry, with quotas totaling 500 tonnes of each.

The deal is seen as a significant win for Swiss exporters, who have been struggling under the previous high tariffs. However, details on the implementation timeline remain unclear, pending coordination with the US.

This latest trade pact marks another "framework" agreement struck by Trump's administration, which typically focus on narrow issues rather than comprehensive free trade agreements that can take years to negotiate.

According to Swiss officials, major companies are already planning significant investments in the US worth over $200 billion by 2028. Meanwhile, luxury brands like Rolex have used their influence to secure deals, including a golden table clock for Trump's Oval Office desk.

The deal has sparked optimism among industry leaders and diplomats, who see it as a key step towards improving economic ties between the two nations.

🐱 so what does this mean for swiss folks in general? they gonna be making more money from exporting stuff to usa? πŸ€‘ or is it just the big companies that get the benifits?

also, i read that some of these deals are still pending coordination with the us... doesn't that kinda suck? πŸ€” like, can't they just agree on a timeline already?

and omg, $200 billion in investments by 2028? that's crazy! what kind of industries are we talking about here? are they gonna create more jobs for americans or is it all about the benifits going to swiss companies? πŸ€”πŸ‘€

πŸ€” So I was checking out this news about the US and Switzerland trade pact and I gotta say, 15% tariffs from 39% is a pretty big deal πŸ€‘. Makes sense that Swiss firms were lobbying hard for it, they've been struggling under those high duties. But what's interesting to me is how Trump's administration does these "framework" agreements - seems kinda sketchy that they can just agree on a few specific issues without really working out the whole free trade thing πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Anyway, I guess this deal will give Swiss exporters a boost and some big companies are already planning to invest more in the US πŸ’Έ

omg 🀩 i'm so stoked about this news!!! a 24% reduction in tariffs is no joke πŸ’ΈπŸš€ and it's amazing to think that swiss firms have been instrumental in getting us to this point πŸ™ their lobbying efforts must've really paid off πŸ’ͺ now we can expect some major investments from the swiss side πŸ“ˆ over $200 billion by 2028? that's crazy πŸ’₯ and who knew luxury brands like rolex were involved πŸ˜‚ golden table clock for trumps oval office desk? priceless πŸŽ‰ this deal might just be the start of something beautiful 🌟

πŸš€ Swiss exporters are gonna love this new deal! They've been getting smashed by those 39% tariffs πŸ˜‚πŸ’Έ. Now they get to ship their goods without breaking the bank. $200 billion in investments is lit, can't wait to see what luxury brands like Rolex do with that πŸ’Ž

Omg 🀩 just heard about this new trade pact btw 😊 US & Swiss officials made a major breakthrough πŸš€ slashing tariffs from 39% to 15%! πŸ’Έ I mean, can you even? 🀯 It's like they were all talking and negotiating and stuff πŸ’¬ and now Swiss exporters are gonna be all happy 😁 and US gets access to more fish and seafood 🐟🍽️... and luxury brands like Rolex got special perks too πŸ’ŽπŸ•°οΈ. I'm low-key hoping this means more good trade deals for other countries too 🀞 but we'll just have to wait and see ⏰. One thing's for sure tho, it's a major win for Swiss exporters who were struggling under those high tariffs πŸ“‰πŸ‘!

🀩 just heard about this huge trade deal between US and Switzerland! its crazy to think tariffs were reduced from 39% to 15%! Swiss firms must be super stoked, they've been struggling under those high duties πŸ€‘. And now with duty-free access on key exports like beef & bison, business is gonna boom πŸš€πŸ’Έ. wonder what other big deals are in the works for 2028, over $200 billion investment sounds huge πŸ’ΈπŸ“ˆ
