Verizon Outage Knocks Out US Mobile Service, Including Some 911 Calls

Major Verizon Outage Brings US Mobile Services to a Standstill, Including Some 911 Calls

A nationwide outage affecting Verizon customers has left many Americans unable to access mobile data and complete calls, with some reports suggesting that the issue may also be impacting 911 calls.

According to Verizon spokesperson Christina Moon Ashraf, the telecom giant's engineers are working to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. However, with AT&T and T-Mobile customers also experiencing service disruptions in the same timeframe, it is unclear whether this outage is isolated to Verizon or has a broader impact on the US mobile network.

DownDetector, an outage tracking site, reported spikes in reports of service disruptions for all three major US mobile carriers, suggesting that the issue may be more widespread than initially thought. Many customers using both iOS and Android devices have reported that their phones are in SOS mode, allowing only emergency calls to be made.

In Washington DC, the official emergency alert channel noted that a nationwide Verizon Wireless outage may be affecting some users' ability to connect with 911. The channel advised those who cannot reach 911 via their Verizon device to use another carrier's device or call a landline, or visit a police station or fire station to report an emergency.

The cause of the outage is still unknown, but experts have noted that similar incidents in the past have shown that outages at one carrier can affect multiple telecoms due to collateral impacts. As the situation develops, Verizon and other carriers are urging customers to remain patient and check for updates on their mobile devices or online.

🤦‍♂️ honestly tho I'm stuck with no signal atm like what's good Verizon 🙄 and btw has anyone tried calling 911 yet? 📞💔 don't wanna be that guy who can't get help in an emergency 😬. been hearing these warnings about outages affecting both data & calls so yeah, glad someone is taking it seriously 👍

Ugh, what a bummer 🤕! A nationwide outage like this is so frustrating 😩, especially with 911 calls being affected too 🚨. I mean, can you imagine if you're in a life-threatening situation and can't even make a call? It's like, super scary 💀.

I'm glad Verizon is working on it ASAP ⏱️, but I hope they figure out the root cause of this issue soon 💡. And, um, AT&T and T-Mobile customers experiencing service disruptions too? Like, what's going on here? 🤔

It's crazy how downDetector reported spikes in reports across all three major carriers 📊. It's like, we need to get our act together as a tech community 🙏.

I hope Verizon gets this resolved soon, so I can get back to my Netflix binge-watching sessions 📺! Anyone else experiencing this outage? 🤗

Ugh, another major outage 🚫😩 and I'm still waiting for a reliable source on what caused it... like, where's the data? Where's the info from Verizon themselves? Christina Moon Ashraf just saying "engineers are working" isn't cutting it... this is a national emergency! And what's up with AT&T and T-Mobile customers experiencing service disruptions too? This sounds like more than just one carrier down...

omg u guys this is getting crazy 🤯 so theres a nationwide outage on verizon n they cant even make calls lol how r ppl supposed 2 deal w/ that??? i feel so bad 4 the ppl who r trying 2 reach loved ones but cant get thru 📱💔 and whats w/ the 911 thing?? i hope every1 s ok rn 💕

OMG, this is so crazy! 🤯 Like, how do you just lose all your cell service like that?! 😱 I'm glad AT&T & T-Mobile aren't the only ones experiencing issues tho, 'cause if it was just them, people would be super worried about their safety. The fact that 911 calls are also affected is a major red flag! 🚨 Like, what if someone's in an emergency and can't get help?! It's good to know there are other ways to reach out, like landlines or police stations.

I'm so curious about the cause of this outage, tho. 🤔 Is it something with their servers or infrastructure? I hope Verizon gets everything sorted out ASAP! 💻 These carriers need to make sure they're prepared for these kinds of situations to prevent it from happening again in the future. Fingers crossed it gets resolved soon! 🤞
