... I mean what kinda protocol do you have for someone who's just having a mental health crisis? Holding a knife is crazy, but gettin shot 5 times? That's just insane 
. I'm not sayin the cops didn't think they needed to protect themselves or whatever, but this guy wasn't armed or threatenin anyone... it's like they didn't even try to talk him down or de-escalate the situation 
. Now Galfy's family's gotta deal with losin their loved one and I hope whoever investigates this gets to the bottom of what went wrong

it's not about breaking the law or being a threat, but being human & in need of help 
we should have more community support systems in place instead of relying on the cops to handle mental health crises 
u guys think the NYPD's body cams are just gonna help make us believe they're being transparent but honestly who needs that footage when you already know it's just gonna show some officers doing their jobs while other officers are more concerned with getting the right angle for their personal youtube channels 
. this is just another example of how we'll never really get the full story and even if we did, what does it do to change anything? we all know cops are gonna keep getting away with whatever they want as long as they've got that badge on 
. btw why cant we have some real training for officers on de-escalation tactics instead of just throwing more guns at the problem

. It's just not right. And what really gets me is the footage, it looks like a war zone out there... officers are literally yelling at this guy while he's already crying and holding a knife, who does that? 
This is exactly why we need better training for mental health situations, it's just basic human decency. Joseph's family deserves so much more than this 
. We're still waiting to hear what really went down in that moment and I'm guessing it's gonna be even more disturbing... 
i feel bad for his fam, they're already grieving and now they gotta deal with this? it's just so senseless 
the thing is, he was having a mental health crisis and they showed up instead of medics... like what even is that protocol? 
the authorities need to get their act together and figure out how to handle situations like this without resorting to force 
it's like they didn't even try to de-escalate the situation or call emergency services first 
what were those two cops thinking?! 
gotta make sure we're holding our law enforcement accountable for their actions and making sure they have the right training in place to deal with these kinds of situations 
maybe this is a wake-up call for us as a society to start having more open conversations about mental health and how to support people in crisis
