Vox launches new editorial package examining how America can improve its capacity to build

Vox to Unpack America's Infrastructure Crisis: A New Era of Solutions-Focused Journalism

As the United States struggles to keep pace with an increasingly complex and interconnected world, one pressing issue has come into sharp focus: America's inability to build. With a crippling housing shortage, aging transportation systems, and a woefully inadequate energy grid, the country's capacity to construct and innovate is in dire need of revitalization.

In response to this pressing challenge, Vox has launched a multi-year editorial project aimed at exploring what it will take for the US to restore its building prowess. Dubbed "The Case for Growth," the first editorial package delves into the policy, political, and practical challenges hindering America's ability to construct the infrastructure required for the 21st century.

At the heart of this effort is a recognition that a zero-sum politics has paralyzed the country, stifling innovation and growth. By examining ambitious solutions-focused journalism, Vox aims to uncover ideas and innovations capable of unlocking progress in areas such as expanding electricity supply, modernizing transportation projects, and increasing housing availability.

Through its investigation, Vox will probe the lessons learned from countries that have successfully built infrastructure faster, cleaner, and more affordably – and what it would take to apply those lessons at home. With support from a grant from Arnold Ventures, Vox is committed to producing high-quality content that informs lawmakers, government officials, policy thinkers, scholars, journalists, and others shaping the national conversation around America's capacity to build.

The project's scope extends far beyond a single editorial package or podcast series, however. In 2026, a second case-study series titled "How They Built It" will explore the successes of countries that have leveraged innovative approaches to infrastructure development, while a new newsletter focused on infrastructure and building policy will hit newsstands in 2026.

Through its comprehensive coverage and solutions-focused approach, Vox aims to bring smart policy thinking and under-examined ideas to the wider public – providing a resource for those seeking to build a more resilient, sustainable future.

you know what's wild? like i was at the park yesterday with my dog and we saw this guy playing with his kid on a new swing set and it was literally so cool 🤩... anyway, back to infrastructure... have you guys seen those movies where they're building these huge cities from scratch? like "Blade Runner" or something? it's crazy how much work goes into creating entire ecosystems for humans... and can we talk about the housing shortage for a sec? i feel like i've been looking at apartments online for months and they all seem to be, like, super tiny 🤯... maybe we just need more creative solutions or something? idk

I gotta say 🤔, the US is really struggling when it comes to building stuff. They're talking about housing shortages, old transportation systems, and energy grids that are basically ancient 💡. It's crazy how they haven't caught up with the rest of the world yet.

I think this Vox project is a great idea 🎉, getting all these experts and thinkers together to come up with solutions-focused journalism. We need more of that kind of thinking in politics, you know? Not just all the partisan bickering and gridlock 🙄. It's time for some real progress on building a better future.

I'd love to see what they learn from other countries that have done infrastructure development right 🌟. They could definitely pick up some tips from Japan or South Korea, who are basically pros at building high-speed trains and sustainable cities 🚂💚. Maybe the US can finally get its act together and start building for the 21st century 🕰️.

It's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out, but one thing's for sure – we need more innovation and thinking outside the box in America 🤯. Time to bring some fresh ideas to the table! 💡

🤔 I think we need to take a step back from all this chaos and try to find some common ground 🌈. It's crazy to me that we're still debating how to fix America's infrastructure like it's 2005 🔋. We know what needs to be done – faster, cleaner, more affordable energy grids, modern transportation systems... the list goes on! 🚧

But instead of just throwing around ideas, let's focus on listening to each other and trying to find solutions that work for everyone 🗣️. I'm all about exploring new approaches, like investing in renewable energy or building more affordable housing units 🏠.

We can learn a lot from countries that have successfully built infrastructure without breaking the bank 💸. And instead of getting stuck on partisan politics, let's try to find some bipartisan support for these solutions-focused ideas 🤝.

I know it's easy to get caught up in the noise and negativity, but I genuinely believe we can do better than this 🌟. Let's keep the conversation civil and focus on building a brighter future for all Americans 💪.
