What’s going on in metro Detroit this week (Oct. 22-28) - Detroit Metro Times

This weekend, metro Detroit is in full swing with a variety of events and activities to suit all ages. First up, the city's newest park, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, officially opens its gates to the public after years of planning. The $80 million development boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including basketball courts, playgrounds, water gardens, and walking trails.

To celebrate this milestone, the Detroit Harvest Fest is taking over the park for two days, Saturday and Sunday, October 25-26. The event features food trucks, live music performances, pumpkin painting, and games that are perfect for families. Visitors can also expect a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., head over to Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park in Detroit to experience the Detroit Harvest Fest. With no cover charge and free activities for all ages, this is an event not to be missed.

If you're looking for something spookier, then The Hive at BDT in Hazel Park is hosting a Halloween party that's part smoke shop, part cannabis dispensary. This year's Spooktacular Halloween Party features vendors, food trucks, and prizes galore. And the best part? It's free! With no cover charge and plenty of treats to go around, this event promises to be a howling good time.

The Crofoot in Pontiac will also be hosting an unforgettable night of horror-themed fun with Cheapy Creepy XVII. This year's short film festival features 10 films that are sure to leave you shivering, plus tribute bands, costume contests, and plenty of retro video games to keep you entertained until the wee hours.

Last but not least, if you're a fan of indie music or just love a good party, then Cheapy Creepy XVII is an event not to be missed. With its short film festival, prize giveaways, and all-night rave atmosphere, this year's party promises to be one for the books.

Ugh, I'm getting so nostalgic thinking about these events 🤔. Reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to have harvest festivals at our town's park. We'd make our own crafts, like that pumpkin painting stuff, and just enjoy the fall vibes with our families. This year's Detroit Harvest Fest sounds like it's going to be so much fun! 🎃 The Hive's free Halloween party is another great idea, I used to go to those when I was younger with my friends... we'd dress up in costumes and just dance all night long 💃. And Cheapy Creepy XVII? That just screams of our favorite old-school video games and horror movies from back in the day 🎮😱. Anyway, I'm def heading out to these events this weekend! 🎉

I'm so down for that Detroit Harvest Fest, gotta check it out! They're doing everything right, free activities for all ages, food trucks, live music... perfect way to spend a Saturday. I'm low-key excited 😏. Can't wait to see what the night has in store!

Metro Detroit's got some serious vibes goin' on this weekend! You know what I'm gettin' at? It's all about community, man 🤝. This city's comin' together to celebrate life, love, and good times. Ralph C. Wilson Jr Centennial Park is like a symbol of new beginnings – $80 million worth of progress and growth. And the Detroit Harvest Fest? That's just the icing on the cake 🍰. It's all about family, food, music, and fun for all ages.

But here's the thing: events like these remind us that life's short, so let's make it count! We gotta enjoy the little things, 'cause they add up to a whole lotta love ❤️. Don't be a stranger to your community – get out there and soak up the spirit of the season. You never know what amazing connections you might make or memories you'll create 🎉.

And hey, if you're feelin' extra spooky or just wanna let loose, The Hive at BDT and Cheapy Creepy XVII got you covered 😈. It's all about embracin' your weird side and havin' a blast with friends. That's what life's all about – livin' in the moment and lovin' every minute of it 🌞!

I'm low-key stoked that Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park is finally opening up! $80 million is a huge investment in Detroit's community, and I love how they're hosting the Detroit Harvest Fest as a grand opening celebration 🎉🍁. Food trucks, live music, and pumpkin painting sound like so much fun for the fam - gotta get the kids out there enjoying nature after all those screen time sessions 😂. And who doesn't love free events? The Hive's Spooktacular Halloween Party sounds like a blast too! Who needs a smoke shop when you can have vendors and treats galore 🎃. Cheapy Creepy XVII is on my radar now - indie music, retro video games, and short films all night? Count me in for a spooky good time 😈.

Just what Detroit needed - more free stuff 🎉! Free Halloween party at The Hive? Yeah, that sounds like a blast 🔥! And I'm all about those retro video games, can't wait for Cheapy Creepy XVII 🤖👻.

Man, I'm thinkin' about how we consume events nowadays... like, we're always chasing that next thrill or experience 🎃. But what does it say about us when every event has to have a grand opening ceremony or some kinda "spooktacular" vibe? Is it just about the hype and the Instagram likes 📸? I mean, do we ever truly stop to appreciate the value in what's right in front of us? Take Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park for example... $80 million is a pretty penny, but is that amount of money really worth the experience or just perpetuating a cycle of materialism? And then there's Cheapy Creepy XVII... it feels like we're stuck in this never-ending loop of trying to be entertained until we can't take it anymore 😴. Maybe we need to slow down and find meaning in the little things, you know?

I'm hyped that metro Detroit is gettin' a new park finally! Ralph C. Wilson Jr Centennial Park sounds like an awesome spot for families & outdoor enthusiasts 🌳💚 However, I gotta say, $80 million is a pretty penny for a park... hope it's worth it in the long run 💸.

The Harvest Fest sounds like so much fun, especially with food trucks & live music! But, 10 am grand opening ceremony might be kinda early for some folks 😴. And, free activities for all ages? That's awesome, but what about parking & logistics? 🤔

Hazel Park's Halloween party at The Hive seems super cool, though! Free entry is always a plus, and smoke shop vibe? Who knew that could be fun 😏.

The Crofoot's horror-themed event sounds terrifying... in a good way! Short film fest, tribute bands, & retro video games? That's a recipe for an epic night out 🎃. I'm totes here for it! 👻

I'm so excited to see metro Detroit come alive this weekend! The new park finally opens and it looks amazing 🌳💚 I love how they've included everything from water gardens to playgrounds - something for everyone. And the Detroit Harvest Fest sounds like a blast, especially with all the free activities and food trucks 🎉🍔

I'm also intrigued by that Halloween party at The Hive in Hazel Park - it's great that they're making it free and fun for everyone 👻💫 And who wouldn't want to spend an all-night horror-themed rave? I've been to some crazy parties in my time, but this one sounds like a real treat 😂👍

I just wish more people would come out to support these local events - it's what makes our city so special and vibrant 🌆💖
