Woman stabbed while taking out garbage in West Ridge

Attack on a Chicago Woman Leaves Her with Cuts, Suspect at Large

A brazen and violent attack left a 65-year-old woman injured in the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago early Wednesday morning. The assault occurred while she was taking out her garbage behind her home in the 6200 block of North Fairfield Avenue.

According to authorities, a person dressed in all black approached the woman and used a sharp object to stab her. The victim suffered cuts on her head and left forearm before the attacker fled the scene. Fortunately for the woman, she received treatment at St. Francis Hospital and was listed as being in good condition by police.

Despite efforts by Area 3 detectives to find the suspect, no arrests have been made yet. Alderman Debra Silverstein (50th ward), who has been working closely with authorities, urged residents to remain vigilant and cautious of their surroundings, especially at night.

Silverstein's words echoed a message of unity and respect for each other that is at the heart of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. The 50-year-old alderman emphasized the importance of calling 911 if anything feels uncomfortable or suspicious. Her dedication to keeping her community safe was clear as she vowed to do everything in her power to prevent such incidents.

The investigation into the attack continues, with detectives working tirelessly to identify the suspect and bring them to justice.

OMG u guys, this is so upsetting ๐Ÿค•!! I mean, who does that to someone? leaving a 65-yr-old lady with cuts like that ๐Ÿ˜ฑ, it's just heartbreaking! ๐Ÿค— and Alderman Silverstein is doing her best to keep the community safe ๐Ÿ’–. She's right tho, we gotta look out for each other, especially at night ๐ŸŒƒ, you never know who might be lurking around ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ. 911 should be everyone's BFF, if anything feels off or suspicious, just call 'em! ๐Ÿ“ž

๐Ÿ˜” This is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. Can't even take out the trash without being attacked anymore ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. As a parent, it's heartbreaking thinking about my own kids walking home from school or playing in the park with no one around. The 50th ward alderman is spot on though - we gotta be extra careful and look out for each other ๐Ÿ‘ซ. It's also so scary that this attacker was in plain sight, just lurking around waiting to strike ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ. I hope they catch the guy soon and put an end to this senseless violence ๐Ÿ’ช. My kiddos deserve to feel safe and sound at home too ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’•

Just heard about this crazy thing that happened in Chicago ๐Ÿค• I feel so bad for that woman who got stabbed, hope she's fully recovered by now. This kind of violent stuff shouldn't be happening anywhere, especially not in broad daylight or right outside people's homes. It's just not right ๐Ÿ˜ข. The fact that the police are working really hard to catch the person who did this is a big plus though, they deserve our support ๐Ÿ’ช. And Alderman Silverstein seems like an amazing person, always looking out for her community and keeping them safe ๐Ÿ™. I do think we should all be more aware of what's going on around us and look out for each other ๐Ÿ‘ซ. It's moments like these that remind us to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious ๐Ÿ’ก.

Ugh, can't believe this is still happening ๐Ÿ˜”! A 65-year-old woman, just trying to take out the trash like a normal person, gets stabbed by some psycho in black clothes... it's just not right ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, what's the world coming to? In my day, we didn't have all these violent attacks going on... we'd get a few broken bones or something, but stabbing? That's just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฒ.

And to think the police are still looking for this suspect? It's been days and no one's been caught yet... what's taking so long? I'm sure they're doing their best, but it feels like they're not getting any leads ๐Ÿค”. We need more community involvement, you know? People should be keeping an eye out for each other, reporting anything suspicious to the police right away.

I just wish we could go back to a time when people didn't have to worry about being mugged or attacked on their own front lawn... it was safer back then ๐Ÿ™. Anyway, I hope this woman recovers from her injuries and that justice is served soon ๐Ÿ’ช.

Ugh, this is so crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, attacking someone just for taking out their trash? That's like, completely unacceptable ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ. The fact that the suspect got away is even more disturbing ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I'm all for residents being aware of their surroundings, but what if they're not even prepared to defend themselves? ๐Ÿ˜จ

And what's with the lack of arrests? It's been days now and no one has been caught ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. That's just frustrating ๐Ÿ’”. I hope the detectives can get some leads soon or else this whole situation is gonna be a total waste of time โฑ๏ธ.

I do love that Alderman Silverstein is taking this seriously, though ๐Ÿ‘. She's got a point about calling 911 if anything feels off ๐Ÿ“ž. We gotta look out for each other in our neighborhoods, especially at night when it's dark and scary ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

๐Ÿ˜” my heart goes out to that poor woman, she's so lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ™. no one deserves to go through what she did, especially not at home in her own neighborhood ๐Ÿ˜ค. i'm so grateful for people like Alderman Silverstein who care about their community and are willing to do everything they can to keep everyone safe ๐Ÿ’•. i just hope the police catch the person who did this soon and bring them to justice ๐Ÿš”. meanwhile, i'm just sending all my positive vibes to that woman and her family, hoping she makes a full recovery ๐ŸŒŸ.

omg that's so scary what happened to that woman ๐Ÿค• i'm glad she's okay tho... i wonder if they're gonna catch whoever did it soon? like, what if they were just having a bad day or something? anyway, do you think chicago is safe anymore? i mean, i've never been there but i've heard it's a great city... ๐Ÿค”

This is just so messed up ๐Ÿค•... like, a 65-year-old woman getting stabbed because of what? Because someone else was having a bad day or something? It's not right that she's been left with cuts on her head and forearm and the guy who did it is still out there free. I mean, I know Chicago has a lot of crime issues but this is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

And you know what really gets me? The police are working hard to catch the guy, but we need residents like Alderman Silverstein to be vigilant too ๐Ÿค. We can't just sit back and hope someone else does our job for us. We gotta look out for each other, especially in neighborhoods that already feel safe.

I'm glad the woman made it through this without any life-threatening injuries though ๐Ÿ’ช. Let's all take a moment to think about what could've been if things had gone differently. This is why we need people like Silverstein who genuinely care about keeping our communities safe ๐Ÿ™.

Ugh this is so sad ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ข... I mean who does something like that? It's like something straight out of a movie, you know? Like from The Silence of the Lambs or something. ๐ŸŽฅโ€โ™‚๏ธ Anyway, it's scary when you hear about attacks like this and you're wondering if it could happen to anyone, anywhere. I hope the lady is doing okay and that they catch the person who did this soon. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ It's not just about keeping people safe, but also making sure we feel safe in our own neighborhoods ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I'm still shaken by this one! A 65-year-old woman almost lost her life because of some psycho's wild stabbing spree... it's just unacceptable ๐Ÿคฏ. I'm not surprised that Alderman Silverstein is pushing for us to be extra careful, though - we've gotta look out for each other in neighborhoods like this. It's crazy how quickly the area 3 detectives are working to catch the guy, but I still hope they find him ASAP ๐Ÿ’จ. What really gets me, tho, is that some people might think it's not a big deal because it happened in a quiet neighborhood... trust me, every neighborhood has its own problems ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. We need to stay alert and report anything suspicious ๐Ÿ“ž!
