For the first time, you can use a Pixel phone as a webcam for Nintendo's Switch 2 console.
This change was not available at launch and it seems that it has been made possible by recent updates to Googleโs Android operating system or possibly by changes on Nintendo's end.
To test this out, we connected our Pixel 9 Pro directly to the Switch 2 using a single cable and switched the USB preferences to "Webcam" mode. This allowed us to use our smartphone as a webcam for the console's GameChat feature.
GameChat allows players to see their own face superimposed over a livestream of themselves during multiplayer matches, while also enabling real-time voice communication with other competitors.
This upgrade is likely to be particularly welcome for users who frequently take their Switch 2 consoles on the road without needing to carry a separate webcam.
