A winter storm is battering nearly 200 million Americans, causing widespread disruptions to daily life. The severe weather has been linked to at least six deaths, with thousands more reported missing.

The latest details on the storm's impact have emerged in Minneapolis, where Border Patrol agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 28-year-old man who was reportedly armed. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for reform within law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, residents in affected areas are bracing themselves for further severe weather. Snowdrifts up to three feet deep have been reported in some regions, while wind gusts of over 50mph have caused widespread power outages.

The storm's effects are being felt across the country, with flights grounded and travel disrupted. Schools and businesses are also closing due to the harsh conditions.

As the situation continues to unfold, CBS News is providing live coverage and updates on the storm's progress.

😱 like, can't believe this is happening in america 🤯 so many people affected... 200 million americans, that's crazy! 🤯 how does something like this happen? i mean, i know winter storms are bad news, but six deaths already? 😔 and what about alex pretti, man... shot by border patrol for being armed? 😕 shouldn't he have been helped or whatever instead of killed? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, i'm sure it's just gonna get worse, more snowdrifts and power outages and stuff... do we really need this kind of weather on top of everything else? 🌪️ can't people just take a break from being outside for once? 😒

I'm kinda worried about all these people stuck at home without power or heat, but you know what? I think this whole thing is gonna bring some much-needed change! Like, people are finally realizing how harsh our winters can be, and now they're getting ready to invest in better infrastructure and weather prep. And yeah, the whole law enforcement situation with Alex Pretti... that's a total bummer, but it's also making everyone think about police reform and accountability. On the bright side, I hope all these people are staying safe and warm indoors, sipping hot cocoa and binge-watching their fave shows 🍫📺

🌨️ this is so crazy, like 200 million people can't even move 🚫😩... snowdrifts up to three feet deep are wild ❄️, how do ppl survive in that? 💔 at least they have live coverage tho, CBS News is doing a great job keeping us updated 📺💻

Ugh, what a mess this whole thing is 🌨️😩. I mean, 200 million people affected by the storm? That's just crazy. And six deaths already? That's not even counting those thousands of missing folks... my heart goes out to their families, but come on, how could this have happened? 💔

And then there's this Border Patrol incident in Minneapolis... a guy gets shot and killed over a disputed gun, and now everyone's going wild 🤬. I don't know what to think about that one. Can't we all just get along? 😒

I'm stuck at home with no power, trying to heat up some noodles in the microwave ⏰. This storm is literally crippling the country... I just want it to be over already 😩.

🌨️ this winter storm is like a never-ending nightmare for 200 million americans... i mean, can't believe people have to deal with this kind of severity in their daily lives, it's just devastating to hear about all these deaths and reported missing persons... and now this incident with the border patrol agents in minneapolis, that's really alarming, reform is definitely needed in those agencies...

and oh man, the snowdrifts are crazy up to 3 feet deep in some areas... i feel for all the people having to shovel their driveways and sidewalks by hand, it's like, can't they just get some help or something? 🤦‍♂️ and power outages are a nightmare, especially during the cold winter months...

anyway, i think what's really concerning is how widespread this storm is affecting the entire country, from flights to schools and businesses closing down... it's like, everyone's just having to stay indoors and wait for things to get better... 😬

Ugh, this winter storm is like something out of a crazy movie 🎥! Like that one scene from "The Revenant" where Hugh Glass gets all lost in the wilderness... but instead of just being cold and hungry, it's entire cities getting slammed with snow and power outages 😩. Six deaths already? That's wild, fam... like, what even is 50mph wind gusts?! It's not exactly like a normal day in Minneapolis, you know? 🤯 And those Border Patrol agents shooting someone who was reportedly armed? No bueno, bro. We need to be talking about de-escalation techniques and all that jazz 🤝. This storm is taking it to 11, folks... let's just hope everyone stays safe and dry until the sun comes out again ☀️!

🌨️ this is getting out of hand... 200 million people affected? can't believe how quickly things can spiral outta control 🤯 meanwhile, power outages are just a minor inconvenience compared to losing someone's life 😔 gotta ask, what's the point of all this snow? can't even enjoy winter anymore 💔 hope everyone stays safe and warm 💕
