A devastating shooting in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood claimed the life of 23-year-old man whose identity has not been released, leaving his younger companion fighting for survival. The two victims were inside a car parked in the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard around 9 p.m. on Sunday night when gunfire erupted.

The older male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly after arrival. His age has not been disclosed, but he is believed to be over 33 years old, as his companion is significantly younger. In stark contrast, the 23-year-old victim sustained a single bullet wound to the buttocks and is listed in fair condition.

Detectives from Chicago police are currently investigating the incident with no arrests made so far.
