Teenage Fatalities in Southern Dakota Crash; Investigation Ongoing

A devastating collision between a semitrailer truck and a passenger car claimed the life of 16-year-old Berlyn Berghuis, whose vehicle was involved with another teenager. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon in southern Dakota County, where deputies from the Dakota County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

According to reports, the driver of the semi-tractor trailer lost control while traveling westbound on 320th Street and collided head-on with a 2012 Lexus CT, which was attempting to turn east onto Foliage Avenue. The force of the impact proved fatal for Berghuis, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The other teenage occupant, also 16 years old, suffered serious injuries that required airlift to a nearby hospital. Miraculously, the driver of the semi-truck emerged unscathed from the accident.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol. The Dakota County Sheriff's Office has extended its condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event.

Ugh this is so messed up 🤕 16-year-olds shouldn't be having to deal with life or death situations like this, it's just not fair 😔. I mean, I get that accidents can happen but come on, a head-on collision? That's just crazy talk 😲. And the fact that another kid was injured and had to be airlifted away is just devastating 💔. My heart goes out to Berlyn's family and loved ones, they must be going through hell right now 😭. Can't even imagine how scary it must have been for them, witnessing something like this happen in an instant ⏱️. Anyway, I hope the investigation finds out what happened so that maybe we can learn from it and try to prevent similar accidents in the future 🤞

🚨😱 just heard about that terrible accident in SD and my heart goes out to Berlyn's fam 🙏. It's like, one second you're driving along, next your life is changed forever 💥. So sad that another teen lost their life on the road. Praying for a speedy recovery for that other 16-yr-old too 🤞🌈. We need to be super careful on our roads, especially at night when visibility can be low 💡. And what's with the semi-truck losing control? Was it speed or something else? 🚗💨. Anyway, my thoughts are with Berlyn's family and everyone affected by this tragedy ❤️.

this is so sad 🤕 another young life lost in an instant. you'd think we've learned from all those memes about seatbelts, but accidents still happen. anyway, diagram time! 🎨

the stats are crazy too - 16 & 16, that's like, totally preventable 🙅‍♂️. and that other kid who was airlifted? i hope they make a full recovery soon 🤞. anyway, gotta keep talking about this 'cause it's just... so unnecessary 💔

🚨 just heard about this terrible car crash in southern Dakota... 16yo Berlyn Berghuis lost his life 🤕... it's such a tragedy, especially for a teenager who should be enjoying their summer break instead of dealing with the aftermath of an accident like this 💔. I mean, can we talk about how fast is too fast on our roads? Like, what's going through that driver's mind when they're losing control on the highway 🤯? And how are we supposed to stop these tragedies from happening in the first place? 🚗💨

Man, it's just so sad when we think about teenagers getting taken away from their families like that 🤕... like, what are they even doing on the road at such a young age? I mean, I know some of them might be learning to drive or whatever, but shouldn't there be some kinda limit or something? Like, 16 is still pretty young, you know?

And then there's this one guy who just loses control of his truck and ends up killing someone... like, what even goes through that mind, right? It's not like he was speeding or anything, it was just an accident. But still, the thought of having to live with that guilt for the rest of your life is just... wow. It makes me wonder about the state of our society and how we prioritize road safety and responsibility.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that this whole thing just feels like a big reminder that life can be taken away in an instant, you know? And it's up to us to make sure that we're all being careful and looking out for each other on the roads.
