Lunar Software and Raw Fury, the game development duo behind sci-fi horror title Routine, have made good on their promise of finally releasing the game after over a decade in development. As of now, we can expect Routine to hit Steam and Xbox shelves by December 4, with day one availability on Game Pass.
Announced back at Gamescom in 2012, Routine was initially slated for release in 2013, but that window came and went without the game materializing. The project seemed to have gone dark after then, only resurfacing at Summer Game Fest 2022, which offered some reassuring news: it had been fully remade for new-gen hardware.
As we inch closer to Routine's December 4 release date, fans are left wondering what they've been waiting so long for. According to the developers, players will embark on a haunting journey through an abandoned lunar base, trying to unravel the mysteries behind its downfall. Along the way, gruesome murders by murderous robots seem to be lurking around every corner.
While Routine's developer has kept quiet about specifics details of its narrative and gameplay mechanics, the release teaser offers some tantalizing hints: think grainy film effects, makeshift gadgets, and โ above all โ a crushing sense of dread that permeates every corner of this abandoned base. Is this game the labor of love it's been touted to be? Only time will tell if Routine lives up to its hype when it finally drops on December 4.

, I'm so over games taking years to release! Like, what even is the point of having a release date if you're just gonna keep pushing it back? And now that it's finally coming out in Dec, I'm still not sure if I'll actually buy it. The gameplay and narrative sound kinda meh

. I mean, who waits that long for sci-fi horror to come out? Anyway, from what I've seen in the teasers, Routine seems like it's gonna be pretty intense - those grainy film effects and makeshift gadgets sound cool

I've been following this game for ages and I'm SO excited to play it! A decade-long development is crazy but it seems like the devs were trying to make something truly special. The idea of exploring an abandoned lunar base with murderous robots sounds CRAZY intense!

. But at the same time, i'm also kinda worried that it's gonna be a letdown . A decade of waiting is definitely a good enough reason to be hyped (or at least mildly interested). The fact that it's being remade for new-gen hardware is nice, but we all know how that usually goes... they promise the world and deliver something that's just 'good enough'. Can't wait to see if Routine lives up to its hype
