2 killed, 1 injured in Southwest Side crash

Deadly Crash on Southwest Side Leaves Two Lives Lost, One Life Saved

A chaotic afternoon on the Southwest Side turned deadly when a young driver plowed into an SUV attempting to make a left turn onto California Avenue. The 21-year-old sedan driver, traveling westbound in the 2800 block of West 87th Street, failed to slow down and collided with the vehicle.

The impact proved fatal for the occupants of the SUV, a 73-year-old man and his 76-year-old female passenger. Both were pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they were taken following the accident.

Miraculously, the sedan driver emerged from the wreckage with non-life-threatening injuries, including an injury to his right leg. He was transported to the same hospital in fair condition and later received a citation for failing to reduce his speed before the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but so far, no further details have been made public.

Ugh, this is such a bummer πŸ€•. Can we please fix our roads already?! I mean, it's not that hard to slow down when turning left... right? It's just common sense, you know? And what's with all these young drivers speeding around like they own the place?! They need some serious crash courses (no pun intended) on road safety. And of course, the authorities are still investigating... well, it's about time! I want to see those dashcams from every car involved in this crash and a thorough review of the traffic patterns on that block. We can't keep relying on luck to save lives like this πŸ™. And what's with all these citations for speed? It seems like just another slap on the wrist to me...

omg thats so shocking 😱, like 2 lives lost already just because of a stupid accident? the fact that the young driver didn't slow down at all makes me wanna scream 🀯 its just so irresponsible and inconsiderate of others on the road. i feel bad for the family of the victims tho, their loss is so sad πŸ˜”. hope the guy who was driving the sedan gets his priorities straight ASAP πŸ’ͺ. and yeah 1 life saved is def a miracle πŸ™. this should be a wake-up call to all drivers out there to please drive safely πŸš—πŸ’¨

Man what's wrong with young drivers these days? Can't even slow down when they're trying to make a left turn... like that 21-year-old was completely oblivious to his surroundings πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And now two innocent people are gone, just because he wasn't paying attention... it's just so senseless πŸ˜”.

And can you believe the sedan driver got off scot-free with a leg injury? Like, what's even the point of that? He should be facing some serious consequences for his reckless behavior πŸ™„. And now he's just gonna get a slap on the wrist and go about his day... meanwhile the families of those two people who died are left to pick up the pieces... it's just not right 😒.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being too harsh, but this whole thing just feels like another example of how reckless some drivers can be... πŸš—πŸ˜‘.

Ugh I'm still shakin' rn 😩 just saw this on my newsfeed and it's like why do things like this happen?! 🀯 the guy who lost his life in that car accident was only 73 and had a daughter, I've got two kids too and it's just... too much. πŸ™ the sedan driver is lucky to be alive, but still, what's with all these reckless drivers out there? πŸš—πŸ˜‘ I don't think we'll ever understand why some people are so careless behind the wheel. Anyway, my heart goes out to that family and their loved ones πŸ’”

πŸ˜• this is just heartbreaking... two lives lost, one saved 🀞 you'd think with all the safety features in cars today, accidents like these should be a thing of the past πŸ’” especially when it comes to young drivers, they're always on their phones while driving πŸ“± which is just reckless. anyway, glad the kid is alive and only suffered minor injuries πŸ™ hope he learns from this and becomes a better driver πŸ‘

I'm still trying to process this... a young driver just plowed into another car thinking they could make that left turn? 😱 It's like they were in a rush or something. I can imagine how scary it must've been for the other drivers and pedestrians on the street.

And poor old man and woman who got hurt, 73 and 76 years old... what are the chances? πŸ˜” I hope the hospital took good care of them before it was too late.

I do feel bad for the young driver, though. One leg injury isn't so bad, I guess. But still, you'd think they'd slow down a bit before making a turn, right?

This whole thing just makes me think about how we all need to be more careful on the road. There's always going to be some risk when driving, but I wish people would take it more seriously. πŸš—πŸ’¨

Ugh this guy's gotta be shaking, thinking about what happened on the road πŸ€•... a 21-year-old life lost already? and not even the driver of that sedan was too lucky to escape with major injuries πŸ™Œ at least he's gonna be alright for now though...

But seriously, can we just talk about how crazy drivers are sometimes?! this guy was traveling super fast on a residential street and still didn't slow down... what if those two were his family or friends? 😩... anyway, hope the police get to the bottom of it soon πŸš”πŸ’‘

πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ another life lost on our roads πŸš—πŸ˜± can't believe people still don't know how to drive... like, what's the point of having a left turn signal if you're just gonna speed through it? πŸ™„ anyway, glad that cop was there to give him a ticket so he won't be speeding around again anytime soon πŸš”. hope the family gets some answers about what really happened... but I guess we'll just have to wait for the police report or whatever πŸ“.
