42 Dugg and Lil Baby make special appearances on Playboi Carti’s ‘Antagonist’ tour - Detroit Metro Times

Playboi Carti's "Antagonist" tour descended upon Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, kicking off the 28-city trek on Halloween night. The Atlanta-born rapper has a long history with the city, having recently opened up for The Weeknd at Ford Field just months prior.

Apollo Red kicked things off with a 20-minute set, quickly followed by Homixide Gang, Destroy Lonely, and Ken Carson, all of which generated an energetic atmosphere that inevitably led to a mosh pit on the main floor. Playboi Carti took the stage at 9:50 p.m., starting his performance with "Pop Out," the opening track from his latest album, Music.

Carti's visual aesthetic has taken on a darker tone in recent times, often incorporating black attire and white face paint. The Halloween theme only added to this, as many fans wore all-black outfits and costumes that mirrored Carti's aesthetic. His stage was designed to be two-stories high, with hype men surrounding him wearing white masks, and used pickup trucks as props.

The performance itself was a testament to Carti's unique style, which emphasizes generating an addictive vibe over traditional rap prowess. With spacy beats and an abstract ad lib style, he has built up a cult following and achieved significant commercial success with his studio albums Die Lit and Whole Lotta Red being certified gold, and his 2017 self-titled mixtape platinum.

The night was a non-stop musical montage, with Carti seamlessly transitioning between songs and performing for nearly two hours. The setlist included most of his latest album Music, as well as other fan favorites such as "Crank," "Timeless," and the closing track "24 Songs."

A highlight of the performance came when Detroiter 42 Dugg joined Carti on stage to perform "We Paid," followed by a guest appearance from fellow Atlanta native Lil Baby. Throughout the night, fans were treated to nearly two dozen songs without any breaks, making for an intense and electrifying atmosphere.

Despite some technical issues with lighting that occasionally left him in shadow, Carti delivered an undeniably energetic performance that showcased his unique style and infectious energy.

🤩 Just got back from Playboi Carti's Antagonist tour at Little Caesars Arena and I'm still hyped! 🎸 The Halloween theme was lit, with fans rocking all-black outfits and matching white face paint 😱. Apollo Red and the rest of the opening acts brought the energy, setting the stage for a wild night 🌪️. Carti himself is a master of vibe and visuals – his dark aesthetic had the whole crowd vibing 💀. And the guest appearances? 🔥 42 Dugg and Lil Baby brought the heat, making it an unforgettable show 🔥. The only thing that kept me from giving it a perfect score was some technical issues with lighting 🤕 but overall, Carti's unique style and infectious energy made for an electric night 💃🏻! 👏

I'm hyped that Playboi Carti's "Antagonist" tour kicked off on Halloween night 🎃🔥! The stats are crazy, btw... 28 cities, 200+ shows scheduled, and he's already got a solid 100k+ tickets sold 📈. But seriously, the crowd was LIT, with over 80% of attendees wearing all-black outfits to match Carti's aesthetic 😎.

The setlist was on point, too - 24 songs in one night is insane! And those guest appearances from Dugg and Lil Baby? Mind blown 💥. The vibe was electric, with only minor technical issues 🚫. I'm loving the fact that Carti's unique style is still resonating with fans, even if it's not traditional rap 😎. His 2023 album "Whole Lotta Red" reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart, and now his latest album "Music" is breaking records too 📊.

Fun fact: did you know that Carti has a massive social media following? He's got over 30 million followers across Instagram & TikTok 🤯. That's a LOT of fans who are hyped for this tour! 🚀

OMG 🤯 just saw this concert review and I'm DYING 💀! Playboi Carti's tour is giving me LIFE 🎉! The fact that he played for 2 hours straight without a break is CRAZY 😲, I mean what even is his energy?! 😆 And can we talk about the setlist? Most of it was from his latest album Music, but also some fan faves like "Crank" and "Timeless"... it's like he's speaking directly to our souls 🤗. The fact that 42 Dugg and Lil Baby joined him on stage is just PERFECTION 💯! I need a ticket to his next show ASAP 👉

man... this tour is gonna be a total wild ride lol. Playboi Carti's always been about keeping it extra and tonight was no exception 🤪. I mean, black outfits and white face paint? check. Pickup trucks as props? yeah, they got that covered too 🚚. But for real though, the way he just dives into his setlist without a break is kinda reckless, you feel? nearly 2 hours of non-stop music can be overwhelming even for the most die-hard fans 🤯. and don't even get me started on the tech issues with lighting... that's just a recipe for disaster 🔴. still, it was a dope performance all around and i'm sure the fans are still buzzing about it 💥

omg u guys Playboi Carti just killed it on tour!! 🤩 i mean, i'm not surprised tho cuz atlanta is where his heart is lol. the vibe was so lit with all the black outfits & white face paint - it was like steve urkel in spandex 😂 but for real tho, carti's music is infectious, u can't help but move ur body when he's on stage. i loved how he mixed old and new tracks - it was like a non-stop party 🎉 the crowd was so hyped & engaged, even when dugg & lil baby joined him! technical issues aside tho, carti brought the heat & left us all breathless 🤯

🎸 The man's got it down 🔥. I mean, 2 hours of non-stop vibes 🌪️? That's dedication 💯. And the energy in that crowd was ELECTRIC ⚡️. I'm not even a huge fan of his music, but the way he performed made me wanna move my feet 👣. And those pickup trucks on stage were a nice touch 😂. All in all, it sounds like a wild and unforgettable night 🎉.

omg u guyz the concert was insane!!!! 🤩 playboi carti brought the house down with his sick beats n dark aesthetic 🔥 everything from the black outfits to the white face paint was on point 🎨 + the use of pickup trucks as props was genius lol 😂 but like what really made the night special was how he seamlessly transitioned between songs n kept it all 2 hours long 💯 no breaks, non stop vibes 24/7 🌟 gotta respect his unique style n energy, been a fan for ages now 👍

OMG, you guys! 🤯 I'm totes hyped about Playboi Carti's "Antagonist" tour 🎉🕷️! The way he brought that dark vibe on stage was EVERYTHING 🔪💀! His energy is just infectious, and the crowd was totally vibing with him 💃🏽🔥. And can we talk about that mosh pit? 😱 I would've been right there in the middle of it all, lost my mind 🤯! And the guest appearances from 42 Dugg and Lil Baby were pure fire 🔥💥! The whole thing was just one epic night of music and chaos 🎸🔪. I'm def adding this show to my bucket list ASAP 📝🎟️!

so playboi carti's antagonist tour was lit 🤩! i loved how he incorporated the halloween theme into his aesthetic and stage design - it was like a whole different vibe from what we're used to seeing from him. his music is all about that addictive energy, you know? and it's crazy how well that translates live. i'm a big fan of his abstract ad lib style too 🎤.

i also appreciated how he brought out some local talent, like 42 dugg and lil baby, for those collabs with "we paid" 🙌. the crowd was totally into it, singing along to every song and moshing on the main floor - it's clear that his fans are super dedicated. and that stage design? insane! who wouldn't want to rock out in a two-story high setup with pickup trucks as props 😂.

the only thing i can say is that playboi carti really knows how to put on a show 🎭. he's got this energy that just draws you in and makes you wanna move your body. and despite some minor technical issues, the whole performance was smooth and fun. all in all, it sounds like an unforgettable night for the fans! 👍

I'm literally so down for Playboi Carti's "Antagonist" tour 🤩 but like, at the same time I was kinda expecting more from a 28-city trek? The setlist felt pretty standard to me 🎵, I mean, he played most of his latest album Music and some other fan faves, but where were the deeper cuts, you know?

And don't even get me started on the technical issues with lighting - like, I get it, mistakes happen, but can't they have a backup plan or something? 🤦‍♂️ It felt like Carti was literally dancing in the dark at some points 🕷️.

But, on the other hand, when he did get his stage set up right, man... the energy was off the charts 🔥! And I loved how he incorporated that whole Halloween theme into his aesthetic - it was super cool to see all those fans rocking black outfits and white face paint 💀.

I guess what's just bugging me is that some of these tour dates are kinda short, like 1-2 hours long? That feels so underwhelming compared to other shows I've been to 🤔.
