I can just imagine how scary it must've been for Helen Smith to feel like she was losing herself after the pandemic . Idk, I'm literally thinking one minute, and the next, I'm like totally disagreeing with myself . Like, at first, I was thinking that getting a guide dog as an adult is just, like, too much to handle – all those responsibilities, vet bills, the whole thing. But then I'm like, hold up, maybe that's exactly what she needed? I mean, Blossom has basically given Helen a new reason to get out of bed in the morning, and she's found this whole community of people who care about guide dogs, so...

And can we talk about how awesome it is that she's finding confidence again? Like, being single at 60 can be tough, but Helen's not letting that define her. She's rocking the cafe alone thing, joining local events, and making new friends – that's something to be proud of, imo

But, like, what if it all falls apart? What if the puppies get sick or she can't afford the vet bills? That's when I'm like, "Uh, wait a minute... didn't we just say she was finding confidence again?" Yeah, okay, maybe that's a bit of an overthink . Maybe all Helen needs is a good dose of self-compassion and support from the people around her – including guide dogs like Blossom
