A new start after 60: I adopted a Guide Dog mum – and found true love, community and confidence

I can just imagine how scary it must've been for Helen Smith to feel like she was losing herself after the pandemic πŸ€•πŸ’”. I mean, 60 is a big milestone, but add to that the isolation and uncertainty of Brexit, and it's no wonder she felt lost 😩. But then comes Blossom, this adorable guide dog who brings so much joy and love into her life ❀️🐾! It's amazing how one little creature can change everything. And I think it's beautiful that Helen is finding new purpose in caring for the puppies - it's like a second chance at life πŸŽ‰. She's proving to herself (and everyone else) that it's never too late to rediscover who you are and find happiness again πŸ’–.

πŸΎπŸ’• OMG I am seriously inspired by Helen Smith's story! 60 can be daunting, but turning it into an existential crisis is kinda harsh 😳. But honestly, her journey with Blossom shows us that life has a way of surprising us in the best ways possible 🀯. Caring for puppies has brought out this whole new side of her and I am loving the transformation πŸ’ͺ! Who knew having kids (dog ones) would be the key to reigniting passion and confidence? πŸΆπŸ’•

Idk, I'm literally thinking one minute, and the next, I'm like totally disagreeing with myself πŸ€―πŸ’‘. Like, at first, I was thinking that getting a guide dog as an adult is just, like, too much to handle – all those responsibilities, vet bills, the whole thing. But then I'm like, hold up, maybe that's exactly what she needed? I mean, Blossom has basically given Helen a new reason to get out of bed in the morning, and she's found this whole community of people who care about guide dogs, so... πŸ€”πŸ’•

And can we talk about how awesome it is that she's finding confidence again? Like, being single at 60 can be tough, but Helen's not letting that define her. She's rocking the cafe alone thing, joining local events, and making new friends – that's something to be proud of, imo πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

But, like, what if it all falls apart? What if the puppies get sick or she can't afford the vet bills? That's when I'm like, "Uh, wait a minute... didn't we just say she was finding confidence again?" Yeah, okay, maybe that's a bit of an overthink πŸ˜‚πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. Maybe all Helen needs is a good dose of self-compassion and support from the people around her – including guide dogs like Blossom 🐾❀️

I just read this super inspiring story about Helen Smith and I'm literally feeling all the feels πŸ€©πŸ’•. She was so down in the dumps after losing her husband and facing isolation, but then she got Blossom, that adorable guide dog who turned her life around! 😍 Now she's out and about, making friends and even started a fundraising group for Guide Dogs πŸ’–. I mean, 60 is no joke, but it looks like Helen's found a new lease on life and I'm totally rooting for her πŸŽ‰. It's so great to see people finding purpose and joy at any age – I need that in my life right now! 😊
