A Supernatural Detective Mystery, FMV Terror, and Other New Indie Games Worth Checking Out

The indie game scene has been busy lately, with a slew of new titles vying for attention. This week's roundup highlights some standout games that are worth keeping an eye on.

One of the most intriguing new releases is "The Séance of Blake Manor" from Spooky Doorway and publisher Raw Fury. Released this week, this supernatural detective mystery game tasks you with investigating a woman's disappearance in 19th century Ireland. The goal is to unravel the complex web of clues and interview suspects to uncover the truth behind her vanishing act. This atmospheric game promises an immersive experience, complete with creepy goings-on and an art style reminiscent of classic games like "Lorelei and the Laser Eyes" and "Blue Prince."

In a different vein, there's "The Run," a choose-your-own-adventure interactive film from PRM Games, Benacus Entertainment, and RNF Productions. You play as Roxanne McKee, a fitness influencer who finds herself in a desperate bid for survival after being hunted by masked figures in northern Italy. With 20 possible deaths and five endings, this FMV experience is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. "The Run" is out now on iOS for $10 and will be available on Android and Steam soon.

Meanwhile, solo developer Yannick Audéoud has released his debut game, "Orbyss," which promises a fresh take on puzzle-solving. Playing as a firefly of energy, you'll bounce between orbs to solve increasingly complex puzzles. With time-manipulation puzzles and drone-based challenges, this game is sure to provide plenty of brain food. "Orbyss" is now available on Steam with a 15% discount until November 12.

For fans of roguelites, there's "Death by Scrolling," the latest from Ron Gilbert's Terrible Toybox and publisher MicroProse Software. Released recently, this vertically scrolling game challenges you to stay alive long enough to earn gold to pay for a ferryman's passage out of purgatory. With each attempt, things will change in unexpected ways, making this game a true test of survival skills.

Other notable releases include "Golden Retriever Simple Life," an FMV game that lets you care for and play with the adorable Pichu, developer Pablo Coma's pet pooch; and "Egging On," a precision platformer where you control an egg as it attempts to escape a farm. Both of these games are coming soon to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox PC, and Steam.

Finally, there's "Anchor" from Fearem, which promises a survival horror experience set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with danger and uncertainty. With the ability to genetically engineer creatures, you'll need to build and defend your base against threats both human and animal. Unfortunately, no release window has been announced yet for this title.

Last but not least, there's "Agni: Village of Calamity," a debut survival horror game from Separuh Interactive, set in the beautiful Indonesian countryside. As an investigator named Agni, you'll need to solve puzzles, fend off monsters, and uncover the secrets behind a mysterious village's dark past. With a unique blend of horror and folklore, this game promises to be a thrilling experience.

Hopefully it's not too gory or spooky for those who aren't into that sorta thing 😅. And $10 on iOS isn't bad at all! 👍

I also love how immersive it's supposed to be, i need to try it ASAP 📚💻 "The Run" is another great one too, who doesn't love a good FMV experience? 😱 the fact that there are 20 possible deaths is making me nervous but in a good way 😂 can't wait to play it on my phone. and yay for puzzle game "Orbyss" with time-manipulation puzzles... mind blown 🤯 what's up with all these awesome games coming out lately? 🎮👏

Just got wind of these new indie games and I'm hyped 🤩! "The Séance of Blake Manor" sounds like a real mind-bender with that 19th century Ireland setting. Can't wait to dive into the creepy atmosphere and unravel those clues 💡. And who wouldn't want to play as a fitness influencer trying to survive in northern Italy, right? 😂 "The Run" is definitely giving me some FMV vibes from back in the day.

I'm also stoked about "Orbyss" with its time-manipulation puzzles and drone-based challenges 🤔. Puzzle games are always a great way to challenge my brain, and this one sounds like it's going to be a real thinker.

Needless to say, I'll be keeping an eye out for the rest of these releases, especially "Anchor" with its survival horror setting 🌳. And who knows, maybe we'll see some new favorites in the indie game scene 🔥

omg i'm soooo hyped about these new indie games!!!

"The Séance of Blake Manor" sounds like the ultimate whodunit mystery 🤔 and "The Run" is literally giving me the heebie-jeebies with that FMV terror vibe 😱. I mean, 20 possible deaths? 💀 that's just too much! And can we talk about how adorable "Golden Retriever Simple Life" is? 🐶 I'm already sold on playing as Pablo Coma's cute pup 😊.

And what's up with the new roguelite "Death by Scrolling"? 🔥 it sounds like a true test of survival skills, and I'm here for it! 😂 I love how each attempt changes in unexpected ways, making it super challenging but also kinda exciting? 🤯

The only game that's giving me some major concerns is "Anchor" - the post-apocalyptic setting with genetic engineering creatures sounds way too much for my nerves 🙅‍♂️. But hey, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised when I play it?

Overall, these new indie games are looking 🔥 and I'm so excited to dive in and try them out! 👉

I'm loving the new wave of indie games out there 😊. "The Séance of Blake Manor" sounds like a real nail-biter - who doesn't love a good supernatural mystery? 🕵️‍♀️ The art style reminds me of old-school classics, which is always a win in my book. But what really caught my attention was "The Run". I mean, an FMV game with 20 possible deaths and five endings? That's like the ultimate thrill ride experience! 🎥 Can't wait to dive into that one.

And then there's "Orbyss" - puzzle games are always a favorite of mine. The time-manipulation puzzles sound particularly intriguing... might have to give this one a try soon 🤔. And roguelites are just so much fun, right? "Death by Scrolling" has my name written all over it 😅.

What's interesting is how these new games are pushing the boundaries of what we expect from indie releases. They're not afraid to experiment and take risks, which I think is really cool 💡.

I'm low-key disappointed that more people aren't talking about "Agni: Village of Calamity" yet. I mean, the Indonesian countryside setting sounds like it's straight out of a horror movie 🌴👻. I've been following the developer, Separuh Interactive, and they seem to be putting in some serious effort into creating a unique blend of horror and folklore. The gameplay sounds intense, with puzzles to solve and monsters to fend off - can't wait to dive in and see what all the fuss is about 🤔💀.

I remember when FMV games were all the rage back in the 90s with those cheesy movies 🤣... anyway, these new ones sound pretty cool. "The Séance of Blake Manor" sounds like it's got that old-school detective vibe going on, and I'm curious to see how they'll use the atmosphere to build tension. And who wouldn't want to play as a fitness influencer being hunted in northern Italy? 😂 But what really caught my eye is "Orbyss", because puzzle games were always my thing back in the day, like "Myst" 🤔... and it's interesting that they're using time-manipulation puzzles. Not sure if I'll get to play them before the release of all these other new releases tho 🎮

just heard that the new Agni: Village of Calamity game has been delayed like 3 times already 🤯... and now it's supposed to come out in march but we've all seen how that goes 😒... also, I'm really disappointed that they're releasing Anchor now, a survival horror game, when we haven't even gotten an update on the other 2 games from Separuh Interactive in ages 💔🕷️

I'm so over these new indie games everyone's talking about 🙄. Like, who needs more FMV terror or supernatural detective mysteries? Can't we just play some good old-fashioned platformers or maybe something with a little less angst and existential dread? "Orbyss" is fine, I guess, but it's just another puzzle game to me... I mean, how many times can you bounce around orbs before you lose your mind? 😴

I just saw this list of new indie games and I'm like totally stoked 😆. "The Séance of Blake Manor" sounds sooo creepy, I love the idea of investigating a mystery in 19th century Ireland 🧐. And "The Run" is giving me serious horror vibes, I need to check it out ASAP! 🎃

🤔 I'm so hyped about "Orbyss" right now! As someone who loves puzzle games, the time-manipulation puzzles and drone-based challenges sound like an absolute blast 🎮. Yannick Audéoud's solo effort looks super polished, and the fact that it's available on Steam with a discount is a major win for indie devs everywhere 💸. I'm also intrigued by "Agni: Village of Calamity" – Indonesian folklore meets horror game = instant interest 😱🌿. Anyone else excited about these new releases? 🤗
