After Rikers officer’s sex-abuse conviction, attorney urges DOC policy review

omg you guys i cant even believe what's been going on at rikers island 🤯 like what kind of system allows ppl to be assaulted and then not get investigated til a yr later?? it's wild that this guy CO martin Jr was convicted but acquitted of rape counts and the doc is still trying to cover their own behinds 🙄. kull's right tho, we need some serious changes ASAP so these women can feel safe while they're in custody 💪. i'm all for holding ppl accountable but it should be done in a way that doesn't leave inmates feeling vulnerable 🤕. anyway, lets get ready for some major policy changes 📝💼

I'm so fed up with this DOC being all slow on the draw when it comes to dealing with sexual assault claims 🤯. I mean, if they had just taken Anna Kull's client seriously from the get-go, maybe she wouldn't have been stuck in that nightmare situation for three whole years 😩. It's like, hello! The woman was telling her story and no one believed her...or at least not until it was too late 💔.

And can we talk about how easy it is to just sweep this stuff under the rug? Like, 60% of cases are going on for decades? That's insane 🤯. It's like they're trying to cover up some deep-seated issues instead of actually fixing them. I'm all for holding people accountable, but come on... DOC needs to step it up and prioritize those female inmates' safety above everything else 💪.

DOC needs 2 get it's act together on sexual assault claims 🤦‍♀️! 60% of cases filed in state supreme court are alleging decades-long abuse - when's enough? 😡
