AI Impact Drama ‘Humans in the Loop’ Lands U.S. Theatrical Release and Netflix Pact, Unveils Trailer (EXCLUSIVE)

Netflix to Stream, Theatrical Release for Drama 'Humans in the Loop' Ahead of US Launch on Nov 10.

A new drama film "Humans in the Loop", directed by Aranya Sahay and executive produced by Bijjo Toppo, has secured a dual release plan. Netflix will stream the movie from November 10 in the United States while boutique label One Rising is set to launch a limited theatrical run with an impact campaign starting on November 7 in Los Angeles.

The story follows an Indigenous woman who works at a data-annotation facility in rural India and trains AI systems, shedding light on the unseen human toll behind the global tech industry. Storiculture and Sauv Films produced the film, which also features producers Mathivanan Rajendran, Sarabhi Ravichandran, and Shilpa Kumar.

"Humans in the Loop" won Fipresci India's Grand Prix award and has garnered attention for its unique blend of intimate human storytelling with pressing global conversations about AI and social inequities. Misaq Kazimi, who previously worked on Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s "The Gardener", is now set to steer the U.S. campaign.

Sahay expressed gratitude for having Kazimi as executive producer, stating that he understands the film's heart and relevance. The seven-day Los Angeles run from November 7 to 13 positions the film for awards consideration, with Sahay attending screenings for Q&A sessions on AI ethics, labor, and representation.

The movie boasts a diverse cast including Sonal Madhushankar, Ridhima Singh, Geeta Guha, Anurag Lugun, Monika, and Sahay. Monica Tiwari and Harshit Saini lensed the film, with Swaroop Reghu and Sahay handling editing duties.

A trailer for the U.S. release has been unveiled, providing a glimpse into the film's narrative.

omg just heard about this new netflix movie "humans in the loop" 🤯 it seems so important to shed light on the unseen people working behind the scenes in the tech industry - i mean AI and social inequities are super relevant topics right now 💻🌎 can't wait to watch it on november 10th, but also gotta respect that they're gonna have a limited theatrical run in LA for a week too 🍿👏

can't believe they're releasing it on netflix but also showing it in theaters like what's wrong with people wanting to see it in a cinema you know? 🤷‍♂️ it's about time we highlight the human cost of tech industry and I'm hyped for this movie, sounds so powerful 💪

🤔 I'm low-key excited about this new drama 'Humans in the Loop' on Netflix. It's amazing how the filmmakers are shedding light on the darker side of AI and its impact on marginalized communities. 🌎 The fact that they're releasing a limited theatrical run too is dope! 🎥 I love how the cast is diverse, it's gonna bring so many different perspectives to the table. And with Misaq Kazimi leading the US campaign, I'm hoping we'll see some meaningful conversations about AI ethics and labor rights. 📚 The trailer looks intense, can't wait to dive in! 😊

omg can't wait 2 see dis movie!! 🤩 it looks like they really got their facts straight on the data-annotation industry & AI ethics... as someone who's worked in tech, i'm curious to see how accurate the storytelling is. love dat they're doing a limited theatrical run 2, hoping it'll get some buzz before the netflix release 🎬 also, Misaq Kazimi seems like an awesome exec producer 💪 hope dis movie gets the recognition it deserves 🌟

I'm kinda skeptical about this whole dual release plan, you feel? Like, isn't it gonna water down the experience of watching a movie in theaters? I mean, we're talking about a movie that's trying to shed light on some pretty heavy issues like AI and social inequities... shouldn't we be giving it our full attention and focus when we watch it? Streaming it on Netflix might just make it feel too casual or accessible, you know? And what's the point of having a limited theatrical run in LA if nobody can see it during that time unless they're already there 🤔🎥

man this film is like a wake-up call to us all we're so caught up in our screens and tech lives that we forget about the people behind the code and data annotation facilities are some of the most vulnerable jobs out there 🤖💻 it's crazy how much work goes into creating AI systems but what about the human toll?

it's like, we need to have a conversation about accountability and ethics in tech we can't just ignore the impact our devices have on people's lives

I think this is a great way to get more people interested in the movie 🎥. I'm not sure why Netflix didn't just do a straight-to-streaming thing though... might've gotten lost in all that noise 😐. The whole dual release plan seems kinda fancy and attention-grabbing, but hey, it's all about getting the word out about this important story about data annotation and AI 🤖. I'm not sure what to expect from the U.S. campaign yet, but Misaq Kazimi sounds like a solid choice 👍

omg i'm so excited to see this movie on netflix 📺💻! its so cool that they're doing a dual release plan, too - like, who wouldn't wanna catch it in theaters first? 🎥 but seriously, the story looks really powerful... i mean, highlighting the unseen human toll behind ai is somethin we need to talk about more often 💖. i'm also lovin the fact that its got a diverse cast, cuz representation matters so much 🌈! cant wait for nov 10 👀

I love how Netflix is trying to tackle these heavy issues like AI and social inequities through storytelling 🤖💡 "Humans in the Loop" sounds like a really powerful movie that sheds light on the unseen human toll behind our tech habits. I'm also excited to see the diverse cast, it's about time we saw more representation on screen 🌈👍

The theatrical release plan is also a great idea, giving fans a chance to experience the film in a different way before streaming it 🎥💻 The LA run and Q&A sessions with the director could be really interesting, especially given the themes of AI ethics and labor 👏

I'm curious to see how this will all play out, but I'm definitely looking forward to checking out "Humans in the Loop" when it drops on November 10 🎬👀
