Alan Cumming Sets 2026 Pitlochry Festival Theatre Lineup: ‘My Fair Lady,’ ‘King Lear’ and More

Pitlochry Festival Theatre's Lineup for 2026 Revealed, Featuring Alan Cumming in Star-Studded Productions

Alan Cumming has unveiled the lineup for Pitlochry Festival Theatre's 2026 season, marking his inaugural year as artistic director. The program coincides with the theater's 75th anniversary and features a diverse range of productions that showcase the talents of both established and emerging artists.

Cumming's own passion project is Henry Higgins in Lerner Loewe's "My Fair Lady," which he has directed alongside Maria Friedman. This will be a highlight of the festival, bringing his unique energy to the iconic role. In addition to this, other notable productions include "Once" directed by John Tiffany and choreographed by Steven Hoggett, as well as new plays like Martin Sherman's "I'll Be Seeing You," which stars Simon Russell Beale and Fra Fee.

Other shows will feature more established names, including Adura Onashile and Sandy Grierson in Douglas Maxwell's "Inexperience" alongside Scottish playwright Frances Ruffelle. The lineup also includes the UK premiere of "Ceilidh," directed by Sam Pinkleton, as well as a production of William Shakespeare's "King Lear" with Maureen Beattie and Forbes Masson.

Cumming has stated that his programming reflects his personal values, including a belief in dreaming big and the power of positivity. He has drawn inspiration from John Stewart, who founded Pitlochry Festival Theatre 75 years ago. The lineup promises to be an exciting celebration of theater, with a mix of classic shows and new works.

Priority booking for members and patrons begins on November 13, with public bookings opening on November 27.

Ugh, another year another bunch of overpriced tickets 🤑🎟️. I mean, I'm excited that Alan Cumming is involved and all, but can't they find a way to make the productions more affordable? It's going to be a packed season with so many big names lined up. And 75 years old is still pretty young to retire, you know? Why not have some younger talent take center stage for once? 🤔😒

🎭 I'm so down for this lineup! Alan Cumming is going to bring so much energy to the stage, especially in "My Fair Lady". I love that he's doing his own passion project - it'll be a real treat for fans. And can we talk about the rest of the lineup? "Once" and "King Lear" are already making me excited... and I'm intrigued by "I'll Be Seeing You" too. I've always been a fan of Martin Sherman's writing, so that one is definitely on my radar. 🎬

I don’t usually comment but I just had to share my thoughts on this Alan Cumming thing 🤔... so, he's directing "My Fair Lady" and I think that's a big deal 🎭! He's got some amazing talent lined up for the festival, I'm especially excited about "Once" – it's one of my fave shows from way back 🌟. But, I don't know if I'm entirely sure what to make of the whole artistic director thing... I mean, I love Alan Cumming and all but is he really ready for that kind of responsibility? 😬 Still, fingers crossed it'll be a great show!

Love that they're focusing on positivity and big dreams in their programming 💫, its a breath of fresh air in an industry thats often stuck in tradition 👏. Fingers crossed priority booking goes quickly for members and patrons 🤞

Just saw the lineup for Pitlochry Festival Theatre's 2026 season 🎭. Really excited to see Alan Cumming bring his energy to "My Fair Lady"! 😊 The mix of classic shows and new works is going to be great, can't wait to see it all come together. Also love that they're showcasing emerging artists alongside established names, think it's a really positive vibe 🌞. Booking opening on Nov 27? Got my calendar marked 😉

So Alan Cumming's got a big job ahead of him as artistic director at Pitlochry Festival Theatre 🎭, but it looks like he's off to a great start with this lineup! The mix of classic shows and new works is really interesting - I'm not sure how "Once" will sit alongside "My Fair Lady", but John Tiffany's involved so fingers crossed it'll be good 😅. The fact that Cumming has put his own passion project in the lineup is a great move, and I think fans of "My Fair Lady" are gonna love seeing Alan bring Henry Higgins to life 🎶. Overall, it's looking like a pretty solid 2026 season - can't wait to see what they do! 👏

I gotta say, this is super cool 🤩! It's awesome that Alan Cumming has taken the reins at Pitlochry Festival Theatre and is bringing in some amazing talent to celebrate their 75th anniversary. What I love about this lineup is it's all about diversity and inclusivity - you've got a mix of classic shows, new works, and talented actors from all walks of life. It's like Cumming is saying, "Hey, everyone has something unique to offer, let's shine our lights!" That's such an important lesson, don't you think? 🌟 Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that everyone has value, regardless of their background or experience. Anyway, I'm definitely gonna be checking out these shows - who knows what inspiration we might take away from them? 🎭

🤔 I'm loving the fact that Alan Cumming is bringing his own passion project to Pitlochry Festival Theatre! It's amazing how something as iconic as "My Fair Lady" can be revamped with fresh energy. This just goes to show that art and politics aren't mutually exclusive - in fact, they often go hand-in-hand. I mean, who better to bring out the best in a classic like "Once" than someone who's not afraid to take risks? It's all about creating opportunities for new talent and pushing boundaries, kinda like how we need more progressive policies to create a level playing field for artists and individuals alike.

And let's talk about diversity - it's great to see so many established names alongside emerging talents. This just highlights the importance of investing in our communities and providing opportunities for everyone to shine. It's also interesting that Cumming has drawn inspiration from John Stewart, who founded this very festival 75 years ago. That's what I call a legacy worth celebrating! Now, if we could just apply some of that same vision to our own social and economic structures... 🤯

You gotta wonder what's behind Alan Cumming's decision to focus on "My Fair Lady" as his passion project. Is it just a classic case of Hollywood darling doing theatre for the sake of doing theatre? 🤔 I mean, don't get me wrong, he's got the skills and all, but has he thought about the economic implications of his choices? I'm sure there are some of us who would rather see more diversity in the lineup. And let's be real, with this being the festival's 75th anniversary, you'd think they'd want to highlight some of Scotland's own talents instead of bringing in international names. It's like they're saying, "Hey, we've got a rich cultural heritage, but let's just stick with what we know." I'm all for celebrating theatre, but can't we mix it up a bit? 🎭

"Omg just saw this and I'm beyond hyped for the Pitlochry Festival Theatre lineup in 2026!!! 🤩 Alan Cumming is going to bring so much energy to 'My Fair Lady' I've seen him perform live before and he's just incredible 💥 And it's amazing that they're doing a production of 'King Lear' too, Maureen Beattie and Forbes Masson are such talented actors 🙌 Can't wait to see what the rest of the lineup has in store! 🎭"

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, Alan Cumming sounds like a really cool guy and I love that he's bringing his own energy to "My Fair Lady". Like, who wouldn't want to see him in a musical? 🎭 It’s also super impressive that there are so many talented people involved in this festival – from established stars to newer faces. And 75 years of Pitlochry Festival Theatre is no joke! 😊 I think it’s awesome that they’re celebrating with a mix of classic shows and new works, too. It keeps things fresh and exciting for the audience. Can’t wait to see what the public bookings bring 🤞

omg I'm so hyped for the 2026 season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre!!! Alan Cumming as artistic director is a no-brainer - he's always brought that extra oomph to his projects 🤩 And Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady? genius casting choice! I've loved Maria Friedman's work, can't wait to see her shine alongside Cumming 🎭 The lineup looks super diverse and exciting, from Once to King Lear... what a mix of classic and new works! 💥 Also loving the fact that they're drawing inspiration from John Stewart - it's clear they're committed to keeping the festival's spirit alive 🔥 Who else is counting down the days till priority booking? 🎉

I'm not sure how Alan Cumming is managing to make my eyes light up about another "My Fair Lady" production 🤔💁‍♀️. Don't get me wrong, he's an incredible talent and I love the guy for it, but can't we have something new here? 😅 Meanwhile, it sounds like there's some amazing stuff lined up too - that John Tiffany-directed "Once" production is going to be epic! 🎵👏

omg 🤩 just saw the lineup for Pitlochry Festival Theatre's 2026 season and I'm SO hyped 🎉! did you know that Alan Cumming has been an artistic director at the National Theatre in London since 2015? anyway, his passion project "My Fair Lady" is gonna be lit 🔥 with Maria Friedman by his side. also, who else is excited for "Ceilidh" which is getting its UK premiere 🎉👏? stats say that Pitlochry Festival Theatre has a record-breaking 75% success rate of productions transferring to the West End 📈. that's a lot of buzz! 📰 and have you seen the lineup for Once? that show alone will get me to Scotland next year 💃

I'm not sure why I'm getting excited about some theatre lineup 😒... I mean, don't get me wrong, Alan Cumming as artistic director is cool and all 🤓, but what's the source on this info? Is it just a PR release from the theatre or are there actual reviews and articles that support these claims?

I also can't help but wonder how much of this is just hype. "Dreaming big" and "the power of positivity"... sounds like some marketing speak to me 🤦‍♂️. Where's the concrete evidence that these shows will actually be any good? Have they been reviewed by reputable critics or is it all just based on word of mouth?

I'm not trying to be negative, I just want to see some hard facts and data behind this announcement. Can't wait for the priority booking dates, but only if there's some substance to back up the excitement 😐
