Amazon has confirmed the release date for its new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and upgraded Kindle Scribe, which will be available to purchase starting December 10th. The e-reader will retain the same prices announced back in September, with a base model of $629.99 for the Colorsoft and an upgraded version priced at $499.99 that includes a built-in front light.
The revamped Kindles boast larger 11-inch screens, weighing around 400 grams and measuring just 5.4mm in thickness – thinner than the iPhone Air. The updated screens feature Amazon's new "texture-molded glass" for improved pen glide performance, while those with front lighting utilize a miniaturized LED system. These e-readers also come equipped with enhanced pens featuring stronger magnets to securely snap onto the device.
However, it appears that one variant – the $429.99 Scribe without front light – remains shrouded in mystery and is slated for release sometime in 2026.

I gotta say, these new Kindle e-readers from Amazon are giving me some food for thought... What's the value of progress? We're constantly upgrading and improving our tech, but sometimes it feels like we're losing that tactile connection to the world around us 
. The Scribe Colorsoft with its texture-molded glass screen is all about embracing imperfection, almost like how some artists intentionally leave brushstrokes on their canvas – it's a reminder that perfection isn't always necessary.

400 grams is like, what even is that weight? they're still thin tho 
i mean who needs front light when u got a decent pen game 
texture molded glass is cool and all but i'm more concerned about the $429 version... guess we'll just have to wait till 2026 for that one

but i'm still wondering why they didnt include the front light in all variants 400 grams is pretty heavy tho wouldve loved to see a lighter option for travel or backpacking trips

also, 11 inch screens are massive! i'm not sure about the pen performance though, did amazon really just copy ibooks?

. $629.99 feels like way too much cash just to read books on a device that's essentially a fancy e-reader.
And the pen game is strong with those upgraded pens, it's like they're ready for some serious digital doodling.
