Amazon's New World: Aeternum MMO will go offline January 31, 2027

Amazon's MMORPG New World: Aeternum to shut down servers in 2027, but game remains live until January 31st.

In a move that marks the end of an era for fans of massively multiplayer online games, Amazon has confirmed that it will be discontinuing support for its MMO, New World: Aeternum. While all sales of the game will cease effective immediately, the servers are set to go offline on January 31st, 2027, giving players a little over two years to wrap up any remaining gameplay.

Those who have already purchased and installed the game will still be able to continue playing until the shutdown date, but once the servers go dark, they will no longer be available. Players can expect to lose access to in-game currencies like Marks of Fortune, which will stop being sellable from July 20th of this year. Notably, refunds for any Marks of Fortune purchases will not be offered.

The discontinuation comes as part of Amazon's broader plan to focus its gaming efforts elsewhere, with the Aeternum game serving as the final chapter in a once-promising MMO experience.

Man, can't believe they're shutting down New World: Aeternum ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, I knew it was never going to be like Final Fantasy XIV or WoW, but still sad to see it go... Amazon's probably focusing on other things now, trying to revamp their gaming strategy. But, for those of us who spent countless hours in the world of Aeternum, it's gonna leave a void ๐Ÿ˜” I'm guessing there are still some dedicated players out there who'll keep it alive till the very end... or until they run out of Marks of Fortune ๐Ÿ’ธ, lol! Anyway, gotta make the most of these last two years and enjoy the game while it's still playable ๐ŸŽฎ

Ugh, can't believe they're shutting down New World: Aeternum ๐Ÿค•. I mean, I knew it was struggling, but 2027 feels like too soon? ๐Ÿค” Still, I guess it's not surprising given the whole gaming overhaul thing Amazon's been going through lately.

I'm kinda curious about what they'll do with the remaining servers, though. Are they just gonna leave them sitting there or is that part of the plan to maybe spin off a new game or something? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And those Marks of Fortune are really gonna hurt some players - I mean, who buys in-game currency? ๐Ÿ˜’ Guess it's just one more thing for gamers to deal with.

It's also weird they're not offering refunds on the Marks of Fortune purchases. You'd think that would be a no-brainer, but I guess Amazon's all about making that cash ๐Ÿ’ธ. Anyway, can't say I'm gonna miss Aeternum too much. The game was always kinda meh to me anyway ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

๐Ÿค” I've been playing New World: Aeternum for a while now and gotta say, it's a shame that Amazon is shutting down the servers. The game had some great moments, but it also had its fair share of issues with bugs and balance problems. ๐Ÿ˜ Still, I know there were many fans who loved the game and will be sad to see it go.

I'm not surprised that Amazon is phasing out the game, though - their gaming efforts have always been a bit hit-or-miss for me. They're clearly focusing on other areas now, which might be good for them in the long run. ๐Ÿ“ˆ However, it's still disappointing for those of us who are fans of the game.

I guess we'll just have to make the most of the remaining time left before the servers shut down and start wrapping up our progress. Any last-minute raids or achievements? ๐ŸŽฎ

awwwww ๐Ÿ˜” it's sad to hear that New World: Aeternum is shutting down ๐Ÿค• but 2 years is still plenty of time for us to say goodbye and make some amazing memories with our fellow players ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’– i'm gonna make sure to spend as much time in game as possible before it goes dark ๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒŸ mark of fortune, i'll miss you ๐Ÿ˜ข anyway, thanks amazon for giving us a heads up ๐Ÿ™ and to all my friends out there, let's keep the good times rolling till jan 31st ๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Man... 2 years is a pretty short notice ๐Ÿคฏ I feel bad for all the players who've sunk thousands of hours into this game and now have to start over from scratch ๐Ÿ’”. And no refunds on Marks of Fortune purchases? That's harsh, Amazon ๐Ÿค‘. On one hand, I get it, they need to cut losses and focus on other areas. But can't they just give fans a bit more time or some kind of closure? It's like they're leaving the community hanging ๐Ÿ˜”. I guess we'll just have to see how the remaining players cope with the shutdown ๐Ÿคž.

I'm so bummed about New World: Aeternum shutting down! I spent countless hours exploring that world and making friends with my fellow adventurers ๐Ÿ˜”. It's crazy that they're just gonna cut off servers in 2027, leaving us with barely two years to wrap up our stories ๐Ÿคฏ. And no refunds for Marks of Fortune? That's harsh, tbh ๐Ÿ’ธ. I get it, Amazon's moving on to other projects, but can't they at least give us a proper goodbye party or something? ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm low-key expecting this to be some sorta test run for Amazon's next big thing... they're basically saying we're just pawns in their experiment ๐Ÿค”. Shutting down servers after 2 years and not offering refunds for those Marks of Fortune purchases? That just feels like a clever way to get people hooked on buying more in-game cash without them feeling too entitled to a refund ๐Ÿ˜’. And what's with the "final chapter" label? Sounds like they're trying to make us think we'll never see anything like this again, but I've got my eye out for any clues... ๐Ÿ”

omg u guys are gonna miss new world so much lol they shouldve done this 2 yrs ago tho 2007 feels like forever ๐Ÿคฏ anyway i feel bad for ppl who spent so much money on marks of fortune and now they're stuck with it idk wut amazon was thinking not offering refunds is pretty shady though maybe its time to move on tho ๐Ÿ’”
