Andy Robertson transfer news: Spurs open talks to sign Liverpool defender

Tottenham have entered talks with Liverpool over a potential transfer deal for Scotland international left-back Andy Robertson. The 31-year-old, who is out of contract at Anfield in the summer, has expressed his desire to be involved regularly before the World Cup, which is just around the corner.

Robertson has been starting just four times in the Premier League this season and has been linked with a move away from Liverpool as Spurs look to bolster their squad. The club have completed the signing of Brazilian left-back Souza on Thursday, but it appears they are also interested in Robertson's services.

Liverpool signed Robertson from Hull City for ยฃ8m in 2017 during Jurgen Klopp's reign and he has made 363 appearances for the Reds. However, his recent form has been limited to just four starts in the Premier League this season, with summer signing Milos Kerkez winning a spot in the starting line-up.

The move would mark an unexpected departure for Robertson, who is Scotland's captain, but also brings an opportunity for Tottenham to strengthen their squad and bolster their midfield. The North London club are currently struggling with injuries, particularly at centre-back, where they have eight players out of action.

Tottenham have depth in their squad, particularly among the younger players such as Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence, but it appears that Spurs manager Thomas Frank is seeking an experienced player to help stabilize the team. Robertson's experience and leadership would be a valuable asset to the club, given their depleted midfield.

A deal could potentially see Liverpool recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma, as the Greek left-back has been out of form this season. The transfer could also be a significant development in Spurs' push for Champions League qualification next season.

I'm surprised to hear that Robertson is on the table. He's always been a top player for Liverpool and Scotland. I think Spurs want someone with his experience to beef up their squad, especially at centre-back, which they're struggling with right now. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out - will he take up the offer or stay put?

man i feel bad for robertson he's been starting like 4 times in the premier league this season and spurs are looking to sign him lol what about liverpool tho they signed souza just yesterday ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway i think it would be a good move for robertson he needs some game time before the world cup and tottenham need some stability in their midfield, plus 8 players out injured at centre back is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ

I'm thinking that if Tottenham wanna strengthen their squad and stabilize their midfield, Andy Robertson would be a great addition! He's got loads of experience playing at the highest level, and as captain of Scotland, he's got leadership qualities that would be super valuable to Spurs. Plus, Liverpool seems to think he's not getting enough game time there, so it could be a win-win for both clubs. I reckon Robertson wants to play regularly before the World Cup too, which makes sense.

I think it's kinda weird that Liverpool are considering selling Andy Robertson. He's such an important player for Scotland and has been with the club for ages, I mean 8 years already! ๐Ÿค” The fact that he's only starting 4 times in the Premier League this season is a bit of a worry, but I think the transfer would be a big win for Tottenham if they can get him. They've got some talented young players like Udogie and Spence who could learn a lot from Robertson's experience. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out, especially with Spurs needing to strengthen their midfield. Maybe it's time for Liverpool to rebuild and bring in some fresh faces? ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

idk why spurs would wanna sign robertson tho... they've got other decent leftbacks on the squad. souza seems like a good signing, btw. tbh think Robertson is having a bit of an identity crisis @ liverpool, he used to be their top dog but his form has dipped lately. maybe spurs can offer him more stability & game time? not sure about kosta being recalled tho

๐Ÿค” This is getting interesting! I mean, what's going on here? Liverpool thinks they can just offload Andy Robertson because he's not starting enough games and then suddenly they're interested in selling him to Tottenham? ๐Ÿค‘ It sounds like a classic case of "we don't want you anymore"... except this time it's more about Spurs trying to strengthen their squad, right? ๐Ÿ‘€ The fact that Tottenham are willing to step up and pay for Robertson is telling - they clearly see the value he brings to the table. But what does this say about Liverpool's strategy? Are they just not seeing his potential or are they really trying to get rid of him? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I've got a feeling that this might be a case of "buyer's remorse" down the line...

I'm loving the move by Tottenham to sign Robertson ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘! As a parent, I know how hard it is for kids (and adults ๐Ÿ˜‚) to feel like they're not getting enough playing time, and Andy's desire to be involved regularly before the World Cup is totally understandable.

But what really gets me is Spurs' need for an experienced player in midfield ๐Ÿค”. With all those young players, it can be tough for them to get that extra push when things get tough ๐Ÿ’ช. Robertson would bring a level of stability and leadership to that position, which would be amazing for the team!

And let's not forget about the potential benefits for Liverpool too ๐Ÿ˜Š! They've been struggling in midfield, so getting Kostas Tsimikas back from his loan spell at Roma could make all the difference. It's gonna be an interesting transfer saga to keep an eye on ๐Ÿ‘€

omg i cant believe liverpool is talking to spurs about signing andy robertson like isnt he scottish captin or smthn ๐Ÿคฃ i dont get why he would wanna leave anfield tho didnt they just build a new stadium and all that...i guess its all about getting more game time and being part of the world cup squad ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ˜ฌ i wonder if spurs will make it to champs league next season lol their midfield is so thin atm ๐Ÿ˜ฉ but robertson would def bring some stability and leadership ๐Ÿค maybe this move wont be as bad for liverpool as ppl think? ๐Ÿค”

Wow ๐Ÿ™‚ I dont think its a good idea to sell Andy Robertson to Spurs. He's Scotland's captain and has been with Liverpool since 2017, it would be weird for him to go to the team that's trying to chase them for Europe

man i think tottenham is making a huge mistake if they sign robertson lol he's only 31 but his form has been way down lately, maybe milos kerkez is the future of lfc? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€ but at the same time, robertson would be an amazing addition to spurs' squad, especially with their current injury crisis at centre-back. i think the experience and leadership he'd bring would make a big difference for them. ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ’ช

omg can u believe it?????? ๐Ÿคฏ andy robertson to spurs would be AMAZING!!! ๐Ÿ˜ i know some ppl might say he's lost his touch but let me tell u, the guy is still one of the best left backs in europe and we need him in our squad ASAP!!! ๐Ÿ’ช we can't keep relying on destiny & djed to step up their game and with robertson on board, our midfield would be UNSTOPPABLE!!! ๐Ÿ’ฅ plus he's scotland's captain, lol what a legend! ๐Ÿค

Idk why everyone's going wild about Tottenham trying to sign Andy Robertson ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ, he's only 31 and still got some good years left in him... I mean, what's wrong with Milos Kerkez? He's been doing just fine in the starting lineup. And honestly, Spurs have all the depth they need right now, can't they just rely on their own youngsters to step up instead of trying to buy experience? ๐Ÿ™„ I think this move is just a huge overpay...

idk why robertson would wanna leave liverpool tbh ๐Ÿค” he's got a great team there and they're gonna need him if they wanna keep up with the big boys... maybe spurs are just looking to make a statement or something? ๐Ÿ˜ anyway, tottenham can't be that bad right? ๐Ÿ™„ 8 players out injured is a lot, so i guess robertson could bring some stability to their midfield, but at 31, isn't he past his prime already tho ๐Ÿ’”

omg i cant believe lfc is selling andy robertson!!! he's been such a legend for the team but i guess he needs to get more game time before the world cup ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐Ÿ‘‹

i think its kinda harsh on him tho, just cuz he's not starting every match dont mean hes not doing his job well enough ๐Ÿ˜. plus tottenham could use a good left back to help them out in the midfield ๐Ÿค”

but lol if spurs get him they might be able to push for champs league next season ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ช

idk why spurs are targeting robertson tho ๐Ÿค” he's not even getting much playing time at liverpool right now lol ๐Ÿ™„ but if it's to strengthen their midfield and get some experience then idk why not ? ๐Ÿค‘ i mean, robertson is a great player and he's captain of scotland so he must be good right ? ๐Ÿ˜…

Just think about it ๐Ÿคฏ... 31 yr old Robertson being played on the bench by Klopp, and now he's getting talks with Spurs to get regular minutes? That's crazy! ๐Ÿค” His stats are insane too - 363 appearances, 3.5 assists, 20 goals! He'd be a game-changer for Tottenham, especially if they can get him in time for the World Cup.

But here's the thing... Liverpool just signed Souza on Thursday ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Like, what were they thinking? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ That guy's gotta be more than just backup material. And now this talk of Robertson coming in? It's like they're trying to create a "super left-back" situation or something ๐Ÿ˜….

And can we talk about Spurs' injuries for a sec? Eight centre backs out, and they still wanna bring in another defender? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like they're setting themselves up for disaster. But hey, at least Robertson would be an upgrade over some of the other players they've got, right? ๐Ÿ’ช

By the way, have you seen Liverpool's 2nd team stats this season? ๐Ÿ“Š They're like -12 in goal difference... what's going on there? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ugh I cant even believe what's happening with Andy Robertson ๐Ÿคฏ... like he's just sitting on the bench at Liverpool and they're gonna let him go to Spurs?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I get it, Robertson wants to play regularly before the World Cup, but can't he see that his form has been all over the place lately? ๐Ÿ’” And now Spurs are trying to poach him? It's just so... so... frustrating ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ...

I mean, what about his team? Don't they deserve some loyalty or something? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I guess its every player for themselves in the Premier League nowadays ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... but still, it's a shame to see one of our top players leaving. And now Spurs are gonna strengthen their midfield with an experienced player? Like we didn't already have enough depth on that side ๐Ÿ™„...

And what about Liverpool?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I mean, they've got a great squad and now they're just letting Robertson go because he's not playing regularly? It doesn't make sense to me... Maybe they're gonna trade him or something? Idk ๐Ÿ’ญ... all I know is that Andy Robertson deserves better than this ๐Ÿค

I'm not sure what to make of this one. I mean, Andy Robertson is a quality player, no doubt about it ๐Ÿ’ฏ. But 31 and wanting to play regularly before the World Cup? It's a big ask. And at Spurs, of all teams? They've just signed Souza, but he's also looking for regular minutes ๐Ÿค”. I think Spurs need a more experienced player to help stabilize their midfield, especially with so many players out injured right now ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

I'm not sure how Robertson would fit in, either. Liverpool is such a strong team right now, and it's hard to see him starting over Milos Kerkez, who's been doing pretty well this season ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And what about the World Cup? Is he really ready to commit that much time away from his club team? Time will tell, I guess ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ.

Im thinkin... sometimes we feel like we're stuck in a rut, ya know? Like Andy Robertson, who's struggling to get regular starts at Liverpool. But then you realize, that's not his problem anymore if he joins Tottenham! It's all about perspective. He gets to join a new team, with new opportunities, and help stabilize their squad. Meanwhile, Liverpool gets to bring back Kostas Tsimikas from Roma... it's like they're giving each other a fresh start too. It just goes to show, sometimes we need a change of scenery to find our purpose again.
